  Please don't be crazy on me, but why put just PSPA4E as description of the laptop model?
  If you see the Toshiba download page this info can be useful right on step 4 to choose the right laptop model.

  In any way, if you can't find it on the support page of Toshiba which means your laptop model is not supported for 64-bit operating system. Identify the sound card and try to find it on the manufacturers support page.

  There are some drivers 64 bit Vista published for these series, the sound chip seems to be Conexant and you will find the audio conexant driver as well.

  OK... Here's what I did. A little detective work...

  I like to use the free 7-zip file utility to extract the components of the exe files.

  When I extracted the driver who is seconded by HP for your model files that I've linked you here above, is the ID of the hardware for the Conexant Audio chip driver supports.

  As you can see, this driver supports a different audio chip Conexant as your laptop, because the hardware ID've posted you is PCI\VEN_1002 & DEV_4370

  So, I googled the ID of material and found several drivers having the main ID PCI\VEN_1002 & DEV_4370, but they had another & SUBSYS number.

  I had to download and extract the files to a few of them until I finally found one that matches the hardware ID exactly as yours which is PCI\VEN_1002 & DEV_4370 & SUBSYS_3091103C

  I had to reinstall windows on a friends computer, a compaq presario SR1420AN and long story short, that everything was going well until I came to install the audio drivers. I have tried everything I can think of to get the sound working... I tried the drivers from the hp site, tried those on the realtek site, googled around and found versions different and what-not, still nothing, I have a pretty good idea of how things work when it comes to computers, so any suggestions would be appreciated
