HP Compaq Presario V5000 Hard drive caddy missing

Good day everyone, my father bought a Compaq Presario V5000 to a garage sale and sent it here in the Philippines. to the arrival of the package, I tried to run the laptop, but diagnoses in bios option said that there is no HARD drive installed. subsequently done I discovered that not only the HARD drive broke, but the caddy was missing as well. is it advisable to use a newly purchased HARD drive without the caddy? Another question, about the specified capacity and speed, acoorcing to the specifications listed in the internet, this unit can handle up to 120 GB of HARD disk, at 4200 RPM / min. that explains why the Windows XP Setup program said that there wasn't any see hard drives when I tried to use a larger HARD drive capacity? What speed? Let's say I have a 120 GB HARD drive but speed is 5400 RPM, will it still work? Thank you very much

I have a Compaq Presario S6100NX desktop computer. A few days ago, the hard drive does not in it and now I have to go buy a new one. I preference as a used one that works (EBay) or find a good deal at Amazon or Newegg.com. Here is a link to the specs of my computer... (http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c00055286)

Now, it's the hard drive I found on EBay: (http://cgi.ebay.com/80GB-HDD-Hard-Drive-Desktop-PC-Internal-IDE-ATA-80-GB-/380258524610?pt=LH_Defaul...)

Yes, one on ebay will work, when you remove the old drive, check the jumper setting, be sure the new drive is jumper the same before you install it.

Beware, it is sold WITHOUT WARRANTY "such what."

  • How can I replace a compaq presario C762NR hard drive and reinstall windows?

My friend brought me his computer and said that he would not start. I tried to boot into safe mode and normal mode and it would not work. It would simply flash a blue screen and restart. After you run a test it is determined that the hard drive has failed. A new laptop is not an option at this point.

I bought a new hard drive and I ordered the HP recovery disk. What are the appropriate steps to complete this replacement?

The computer is out of warranty and so is the hard drive. The computer has Windows Vista on it. The failed hard drive was 160 gb, 2.5 ", SATA 1.5 gb/s, 8 MB cache. The news is the same except that it is SATA 3 gb/s.

This is my first time, replacing a hard drive. I'm confident about it, but I want to just make sure I do it correctly.

    Hello

All you have to do after replacing the HARD drive is the following.

Start Notepad and open the CD/DVD drive.  Insert the first disc of recovery.  Hold the power button until the laptop stops.  Press the power button to start the laptop that should now boot from the recovery disk and start the recovery process.

  • Compaq Presario V3000 hard drive question

My computer can not detect the hard drive and I want to replace it.  I know it's a 60 GB hard drive, but that's all the info I can get on it.  How can I tell if it's a SATA drive or not?

    Thanks for your help!

Remove the hard drive. There will be a label on the disc that will specify its type. It is the fastest and most reliable to determine what type it is.

I'm looking for a video driver for w7 or later

    Thank you

    Hello:

You can manually install the graphics driver Vista support page for your laptop as follows...

Download and run the driver below.  You will probably get an error not supported operating system.  Conclusion of any windows error.

This package contains the driver for the ATI Mobility Radeon Xpress 200 Series video in laptops models and operating systems.

This driver allows the ATI Mobility Radeon Xpress 200 series video display function and provides an interface for adjusting the resolution and display various properties.

    File name: sp35203.exe

Go to Device Manager and click to expand the category of cards display device and click on the VGA Standard map (or there may be a separate device listed as a video controller in the category other devices).

Click the driver tab.  Click on set to update driver.

Select her browse my computer for driver software option and navigate to the folder of the driver that was created when you ran the file.

This file will be located in C:\SWSetup\sp35203.

Make sure that the include subfolders is selected, and the driver should install.

Then restart the PC and graphics need to be working very well.

  • Update size of HDD for old Compaq Presario V5000

I have a Compaq Presario V5000 older n/p ET826UA #ABA that uses a Toshiba MK8025GAS 80 GB hard drive. The laptop is in perfect condition and I'm still very happy with it except disk space HARD is a bit cramped these days.

Could someone offer manufacturer part numbers that are compatible with this laptop that would allow me to increase the storage space of HARD drive to something more as big as in the range of 250-320 GB? I'm hoping to find something of surplus for a reasonable price.

I found online of many HARD drives that seem to agree, but have doubts about the requirements of the serial interface. The OEM drive is spec'd like an ATA-6 but was not sure if a disk ATA-7 or 8 - ATA / SATA-8 would be backward compatible for this older HD laptop chipset.

The other question is what is the largest size HDD I can go to without having to change the BIOS. Any help on these questions would be appreciated.

    Sparky

It's an IDE (PATA) hard drive. The Radeon Xpress 200 M chipset will support hard drives LBA that is 160 GB or more if you are only constrained by the market and not by the material. However, the market is a constraint as the price for the IDE drives laptop received top ridiculous as supply decreases. I suggest a seller on eBay with solid feedback. You will have difficulty finding something bigger than a 320 gig and more chance to find 160 gig drives. 500 gig PATA drives have been made, but no one is loose Cup of them. ATA - 6 is also fast had real IDE drives. Make sure that you do not get a SATA drive more modern with plastic connectors. Your will have a double row of pins in brass for the connection. You can speed things up a bit by finding at least a 5400 RPM spin speed. Yours is 4200 that is very pokey according to current standards. If you play your cards right there's even a 7200 RPM PATA drives to circulate there.

    Just a suggestion.

  • Satellite Pro C50 - A - 1 K 9 - use of the HARD Drive Caddy

    Hello

When I got my new laptop the first think I did was to install an SSD.

I don't usually use my optical Bay so I am planning to install a HARD drive enclosure.
Someone has already done this, and if so have you had any problems? Also, what are data transfer speeds?

    Thank you

    Fraser

I can't tell you if this extra HARD drive caddy will work in the Satellite Pro C50 series STRANGE Bay - A - 1 K 9 because that depends on the support of the BIOS and the controller.

I read about these updates several times in different forums and to be stone, sometimes it is possible, but in many cases, the BIOS does not recognize this drive caddy HARD and laptop does not start.

In the case where you have already tried these updates, please share the details with us!
I think it would be very interesting for others, if this update worked correctly.

  • HP Compaq Presario V5000 Intel 945GM motherboard computer laptop - 430198-001What processors can be used

HP Compaq Presario V5000 Intel 945 GM laptop motherboard - 430198-001, which processors support this mother borard, it says in the spec supports dual core processors, it is unclear at what speed or spec that it comes with a celaron, 1.4 ghz processor. the duel core processors up to 2.0 ghz GS, which I think it would support?

    You are the very welcome.

Yes, the T7200 is nice because of the 4 MB cache and can run a 64 bit (not necessary and not recommended unless you can install 4 GB of memory or more) OS.

The T2500 can only run a 32 bit OS, but it will certainly better than celery (I like to call them) processor you have in there now.

  • This hard drive is compatible with my laptop? Apple 80 GB HDD 3.5 SATA for my Compaq CQ62, the hard drive that I have for that one is a "WD 500 GB 2.5 SATA II.

I plan to buy an Apple 80 GB hard disk 3.5 SATA for my Compaq CQ62, the hard drive that I have for you is a "WD 500 GB 2.5 SATA II.

Ports appear as it will keep and everything, but I'm curious to know, if I get this drive, I'll be able to install my Macintosh on that hard drive and use it on my laptop Compaq CQ62 or not?
If this isn't the case, then I'll be able to install Windows 7 or uBuntu on this hard drive? The hard drive will fit even on my laptop? Thank you!

Why you want to replace a 500 GB with a 80 GB drive it?
