HP DC7900 SFF: battery cmos HP DC7900

Hello

I have a HP DC7900 SFF refurbished running Widows 7 SP1.

Everything's fine now, but as I've had the computer for about 18 months now, I find the CMOS battery will soon need to change the.  My questions relate to this situation.

(1) I have not yet opened the computer so I'm not sure of the model battery.  I type lithium batteries CR2032 3v as him my old Packard Bell XP computer.  This is a BIOS battery commonly used - the HP DC7900 SFF also use it and if not what battery does use?

(2) I downloaded documents HP regarding the HP DC7900 SFF, but I'm a little confused by the change information battery.  One document states that the BIOS got must be saved because they will be lost during the replacement process.  Is it true that I don't remember to do this on other computers?  If so, how can I save the settings?

All the other tips about the CMOS battery change for this model would be very much appreciated.

Thank you.

Hello:

Yes, you can use the battery 2032 what to have on hand.

The only thing that's going to happen to the BIOS settings when you remove the battery, it is that they will be set to their default values.

If you have not changed the BIOS settings, then there is no need to save the settings.

I make a few changes to the BIOS settings in my dc7800 and I remember just what they are.

I never saved before BIOS settings.

You will need to set the time and date after replacing the battery.

  • PC Pavilion laptop: no sound on Pavilion g6 after installing the new battery CMOS

I have a Pavilion g6z - 1 d 00 CTO Notebook PC, model A2F43AV number.  It came with Windows 7 Home Premium, and I upgraded the operating system to Windows 7 Pro (64 bit).

The problem is that I did not sound, either through headphones or the speakers even if the Volume is set at 55. I first noticed the audio problem after replacing the CMOS battery, as the laptop is 4 years old and he gave me intermittent wireless connectivity problems.  After installing the new battery CMOS, I noticed the wireless driver was missing and downloaded/installed.  Everything was fine except the audio.  Then I reset the BIOS but nothing there as the BIOS version is v.49, and it is the most recent.

I have also downloaded/installed the driver audio and rebooted the PC.  Still, there is no noise.

Finally, I have checked the audio drivers and the reporting system they work without any problem.

    What should I do next?

    Thanks for the reply,

I was under the impression that these links would take you to guide step by step, however, it seems that they do not work,

However, I have provided details below:

To perform a hard reset on a computer equipped with a removable battery, follow these steps:

    1. Turn off the computer.

    2. Remove the computer from the docking station or port replicator.

    3. Disconnect all external devices from devices such as USB, external displays storage devices and printers.

    4. Disconnect the power adapter from the computer.

    5. Remove the battery from the compartment to batteries.

    6. Press and hold button power for about 15 seconds, remove any residual electric charge capacitors that protect memory.

    7. Insert the battery and plug the power adapter into the laptop, but do not connect peripheral devices.

    8. Press the power button to turn on the computer.

    9. If a boot menu appears, use the arrow keys to select start Windows normally and then press the Enter key.

    10. After you have reconnected each peripheral device, run Windows Update and HP Support Assistant to update all device drivers.

  • RTC battery low - where is battery CMOS? C50 - B - 14 D

I also get a message at startup and strangely in Windows, low battery RTC. The laptop will simply shut down.

I suppose there is a fault or battery CMOS is actually dead. I removed the bottom to expose the jury and watched various tear downs, but still cannot locate the battery. I removed the main Board and the CMOS battery isn't here. Is there one on these units?

It is a fairly new laptop and otherwise in good condition.

    Any help appreciated.

Some models do not have an RTC battery, they rely on the main battery to keep the time.

  • Satellite Pro M40 - where battery CMOS

    Hello

Could someone please tell me where the CMOS battery on an M40 225, also do you know what it takes?

    Thank you

    Hello

Unfortunately I can't tell exactly where is the CMOS battery but it s certainly somewhere on the motherboard and the whole notebook must be disassembled to gain access to the battery of the bios.
For the most part this procedure of disassembly is very delicate and must be made in the right order.

But may I ask what's wrong with the battery CMOS?
Is it empty? Have you tried to load?
Usually, you could reload the CMOS battery very easily. The laptop must be turned on and must be connected to the power adapter for 20-24 hours.
The laptop has to run all the time!

In any case, I found an interesting page on ['How to disassemble a Sat M45' | http://www.irisvista.com/tech/laptops/ToshibaM45/Satellite_M45_disassembly_1.htm]
The M45 is very similar to the portable M40.

But note; everything you do is at your own risk! I have

The CMOS battery swap is not so simply, and to do this you need to disassemble the laptop everything.
Can you do that as a beginner?
It's maintenance manual isn't public document and how to explain the exact disassembly steps now.

Have you tried to load the CMOS battery properly? Leave laptop on the power supply more than 48 hours and it must be fully charged again.

  • How to replace the battery CMOS on Satellite A30 504?

I have big problems with my satellite A30 504... it does'nt see the HARD disk at startup, my only solution was to press the power button for many times so far.

My HARD drive is ok so I think that the problem comes from the cmos battery, but I do not know how to find out what type it is and how to replace.

(PS. Sorry my English, I'm not an English speaker)

    Hi Adrian

Battery CMOS is always placed in an uncomfortable position and to swap the battery of the device must be removed. If you didn t done this before please don t do this alone. One small mistake and you can damage a plastic cover of the unit.

I recommend contacting the service and allow them to do this for you. It costs a little, but you will be sure it will be done on the professional track. When the unit is disassembled it can also be cleaned of dust.

Restore the PC to its original state with the recovery discs

If the PC cannot access the Windows desktop, and the Recovery Manager cannot be started by selecting the f11 at startup key, you can use either the recovery disc custom that you created, or you can order a recovery CD to replace HP, to boot the PC and restore the hard drive to its original operating state.
NOTE: perform the recovery process by using the custom recovery disk you created can take less than an hour, whilst using the replacement disks ordered directly from HP can take four to six hours and includes several reboots.
If the HP Recovery Disk Manager can access the hard drive, it will attempt to repair the recovery partition. If successful, a prompt to continue execution of the recovery using the Recovery Disk Manager.
Use the recovery discs to restore the PC by following the steps below.
    1. Insert the recovery disc into the optical disc drive and start the computer.
If the computer is running, insert the reinstallation disc and immediately click on Start and select restart to force the computer to boot from the recovery disc.
    2. When prompted, Press any key to boot from the CD or DVD, press any key on the keyboard.
    3. Leave the recovery disk boot and load the files required, while the Microsoft loading screen appears. It may take several minutes to load the required files.
    4. When the HP Recovery Manager window appears, click Advanced options , System Recovery , and then click Next to open the Recovery Manager.
    5. etc.

If you are having problems using the HP recovery process, you will need to contact HP, because this is Recovery process HP, not Microsoft.

  • Battery CMOS for Equium L40

My CMOS battery is dead, can someone tell where I can buy a replacement one.

    Thank you

    Adrian

    Hello

I'm afraid the RTC battery is soldered to the motherboard of Mr. Don t think you could easily remove it.

What you can do is to charge the battery.
To the RTC battery successfully, the main battery and the AC adapter must be connected to the laptop. In addition, the laptop must be turned on for about 18-20 hours.

By the way: it s a NiMH RTC battery supports the ability of voltage and output 3V 14mAh

  • Location of battery CMOS C50 - b satellite

Can someone help me locate the CMOS battery in a C50 - B?

I have not been able to find and that you can find no source of information on the internet until now. Is anyone else having the same problem? Whenever I stop, the clock loses its parameters as well as the date. The system tells me that the battery is almost discharged. SO it must be there somewhere and none of the tear down videos online presents helpful tips on its location.

I hope someone out there can help.

Here is a video of the tear down process of your laptop. The CMOS battery is round, flat and silver. It's almost close to the HARD drive and the CPU fan.

    Hello

The CMOS battery soldered cannot be deleted.
In this case try to load the CMOS battery again.
In this case the main battery must be connected as the power adapter.
In addition, the laptop should be on for approximately 16 hours and 20 minutes.
