HP dv6-7220us: want to upgrade processor 7220us dv6

Hello community HP,

I'm a dv6-7220us, and I want to upgrade the processor. I already updated to the maximum of 16 GB ram, but I need more 5 cores to run a program that I need. I was wondering what I need to upgrade the processor and what would be the most important, I could go with without having to buy a new motherboard?

Thank you

Well I am trying to run Autodesk Revit and requires 10 GB ram and 6 minimum hearts to work. I can't find the motherboard P/N, unless I take it all goes, I am a little hesitant to do that I don't know my way around a laptop that well and I don't really have the time to fix it if something is not bad. I've seen other laptops come with i6 and i7 processors so I was just wondering if it was possible to be upgraded before going to my local electronic store and jostling in the purchase of a new laptop.

Number of room in new laptops are in the battery compartment. If you need you'll have number of cores to come by the office. Laptop does not come with 6 hearts currently because of the restriction of heat / thermal and more likely price would be high. There is no i7 or i5 i6 and not unless your outlet and the advice is for the new processors iNtel you cannot simply move to those. Your needs require a computer desktop respond to your deduction limit to the core no laptop currently cannot do.

I have the motherboard and processor supported of the gateway information for upgrades of the processor. If I chose a compatible with the motherboard upgrade processor, the processor must have the same SL * as the current processor if the BSF MHz and required socket are identical? My processor is not incorporated and uses the LGA775 socket. Answers to the specific question are greatly appreciated!

  • Re: Satellite A350D PSALME I want to upgrade the processor

    Hello

    I have a Satellite A350D-10Y PSALME with processor AMD Turion x 2 zm-80.
I want to upgrade the processor with a powerful one.
CPU witch is my motherboard/BIOS card is supported?
    (My motherboard is KTKAE)

    Best regards

Don t mix for laptop and desktop PC.
There are two different things and upgrade CPU for laptops is not easy all this is complicated, as the motherboards are designed only for the specific model laptop.

So far as I know the A350D manages only the processor Dual-Core AMD TurionTM 64 X 2 or AMD AthlonTM X 2 Dual-Core Processor

I have a laptop 214dx CQ60. I want to upgrade the processor in it something else. I read on the Internet it is possible to replace the processor too long you will find the right socket, power, processor etc. Is there a list out there which is compatible with the laptop I have? I was hoping to find a processor that will consider a dual-core to a core2duo machine computer. Thanks for any info you can give me!

Thank you for your help. I'm looking to an improvement in the operating system memory/too, so that the processor could do the trick. Was probably go Windows 7 64 bit at the same time. Thanks again.

    Hello DavidShortt

As a general rule, you can upgrade or replace all the hardware components on your computer and maintain the license for the operating system Microsoft OEM original software, with the exception of an upgrade or replacement of the motherboard. An upgrade of the motherboard is supposed to lead to a "new personal computer. Software operating system Microsoft OEM cannot be transferred from one computer to the other. Therefore, if the motherboard is updated or replaced for other reasons that a defect was created to a new computer, the original license expires, and we need a new full operating system license (and not an upgrade). This is true even if the computer is covered by Software Assurance or other Volume Licensing programs.

  • Upgrade processor for Satellite M30 106

    Hello

I am looking to change the processor in my laptop, but anyone know what is the fastest processor I can use?

    Best regards
    Swarvek

Satellite M30 laptop is very nice. I worked for about 6 months on this laptop. For me the laptop is powerful enough and upgrade the CPU is really not necessary. What you need to do is upgrade of RAM at the level maximum and of course good configuration of the OS.

Can you please tell me what operations run so slow and you want to upgrade CPU on this laptop?

    LOL :D

Maybe you should check this FAQ from Toshiba:
    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/Ann.jspa?annID=13

You will find the information that the processor is removable, but this does not mean that you could improve it.
As you mentioned that it might be a BIOS compatibility issue and this would lead to a malfunction of the laptop so simply said CPU and GPU upgrades are not supported and if you want to upgrade the processor then you can do this ONLY at YOUR OWN RISK.

    Well done dude

  • upgrading processor on SR5110NX

I HAVE a Compaq SR5110NX desktop computer. I want to upgrade the processor. It has an AMD atlon 64 3800 + single core. I would go to a dual core.  now, I replaced the 250 watt with a 400 Watt PSU. I upgraded the memory 512 to 4 concerts... DDR2, dual channel, non ecc, 401 mhz (6-6-6-18). 120g to 500g hard drive. don't know about the motherboard.  How do you know card mother of wich I have?  How about an Athlon 64 x 2 1.6 ghz 3800 + or more maybe?... I'm a bit lost here.

    Hi koiguy,

    Nice.

  • I want to upgrade my HDD to SSD on a 13 "MacBook Pro model 2011.

I want to upgrade the 512 GB drive HARD on my MacBook Pro 13 "2011 model to a 1 TB SSD.

I would like to know if it is safe and that it will improve the performance of my computer?

If your computer is under warranty I would take a first service provider since the upgrade of the disk hard yourself may void the warranty.

Hard disks have magnetic disks called platters, that something similar to a needle, called a head, uses to read and write data.  Solid disks have no moving parts so the data is read and written much faster than a hard drive.  From a HDD for one SSD must have a performance increase, but it will only increase performance when the determinant of the performance are the storage of read and write times.  The amount of applications that are running at the same time is always dependent on the amount of system memory.  The time that processor intensive tasks such as converting video and audio can take is still dependent on the processor.  Several components material impact on the overall performance of the computer system from a disk HARD of a DDI will only have an impact on performance when the data is written to or read from storage.

  • Qosmio F30: I want to upgrade to Core 2 Duo CPU

I WANT TO UPGRADE TO A CORE2DUO PROCESSOR ON THE QOSMIO F30. BIOS MUST BE VERY WELL I JUST FLASHED SUCCESSFULLY.

I WAS READY TO UPGRADE, BUT I'VE READ ADVICE FORM TOSHIBA NOT AS SOME TYPE OF TAPE IS USED ON PROCESSORS ON MOTHERBOARDS FOR TOSHIBA.

CAN IT BE OVERCOME AND ALL BANDS WOULD BE NEEDED TO UPGRADE OR CAN IGNORE THIS ERROR? I DON'T KNOW WHAT TYPE OF HOUSING MY MOTHERBOARD HAS. ALL TIPS THANK YOU?

    Hello

As you probably know, notebooks Qosmio F30 were delivered with different CPU's.
I discovered what processors were shipped with the units of F30:
Insuch Core Duo FSB: 667 MHz
    Core Duo - 2 M 1.66 GHz (processor number: T2300)
    Core Duo - 2 M 1.83 GHz (T2400 processor)
    Core Duo - 2 M 2.00 GHz (processor T2500)
    Core Duo - 2 M 2.16 GHz (processor T2600)

Processor Intel Core Solo FSB: 667 MHz
    Core Solo - 1 M 1.66 GHz (processor T1300)

Intel Celeron M FSB: 533 MHz
    Celeron M 1.60 GHz (processor 420)
    Celeron M 1.73GHz (processor 430)

As far as I know this support socket 478 CPU.
In addition, the Qosmio F30 units are equipped with Intel 945GM and 945 PM chipset.
Units with nVidia graphics cards support Intel 945 PM chipset!

On processors Intel page I found details about 945GM and 945 PM chipset.
Supports the 945 PM chipset Intel Core Duo and Intel Core Solo

    945 PM chipset
    945GM chipset

On this Intel websites, you can find information on CPU compatibility.

  • Upgrade processor in the Qosmio F50-108

    Hello

I would like to replace my CPU P8400 with Q9100.
Is this possible to do? Is P45 chipset and model of laptop is F50 - 108.

    Thank you

    Hello

    I agree with Akuma
Upgrading CPU is delicate first laptop disassembly procedure s isn't easy, you will need to remove all possible parts for laptop and it's not easy as with desktop PC s.

In addition, the BIOS doesn't allow all processors.
The chipset also has a page on Intel own CPU limitation you can check the specifications of the chipset.

But why you want to upgrade the processor?
Aware of the processor is good enough and you won't see a performance gain by using new CPU
