HP Elitebook 8440p recovery disk

I recently bought an a HP laptop, Elitebook of 8440p of a U.S. Government auction. The hard disk has been removed. It comes with a certificate of authenticity Microsoft, but it is almost faded and I can see the frst oly a few numbers. After some research it on Google, it seems that the only way out is to order a HP restore disc. However all attempts to follow the instructions designed by HP continues to me in an endless loop without disc. I'm in the United States. Can someone help me on how to get the disc? Is there another solution?

Thank you.

Hello:

HP business notebooks computers call this number, 1-800-334-5144 and order a set of HP recovery disks.

Have the serial number handy to give to the customer service rep.

You should not have the product key with the HP recovery discs because they detect they are used on a qualifying PC and windows will be pre activated.

You will have a choice of W7 32 or 64-bit.

    Greetings,

I upgraded from Win 7 pro to win 10 pro, and it was the most stupid thing I did lately.

After having worked well a couple of weeks, the computer stopped one day. Software dissappeared, Windows Start button did not work. Of course I did not of beforehand recovery disks.

So I decided to start over. In the meantime, I bought a Toshiba SSHD disk to speed things up and I replaced my HARD drive.

I got a flash drive with installation of Win 7 Enterprise society and began to install.

Everything stopped. It seems that the computer does not want to install a Win 7 OS without the recovery disks, which I did not. My old HDD is also dead, so I can't copy the recovery discs now.

So to make a long story short, I have a PC dead and none of the recovery disks.

Please, how can I get the recovery disc for my PC?

    Thanks for any response.

    Thank you RE051ST,

The problem has been resolved by ordering the new installation CD from the local distributor of HP. It took a while to find and install all the drivers, they do not all have the CD but now the PC is good as new, better yet, with an SSD.

    All the best

    Hello

First of all, I don't know if I post the question in the right place, and I apologize if I'm not.

I bought the laptop with windows 7 and received two CDs with it, one for install windows 10 and the other to re - install the software that came with the computer.

I used a program before moving on to Windows 10 * that has been activated with my finger, saved my passwords, and I was able to connect to my windows with the fingerprint account.

After the upgrade to windows 10 and install all of the software contained in the software recovery disk, I can't find this program.

This software should come in the recovery disk? Why is it missing? How can I get that again?

    * which I'm not 100% sure it was SimplePass

I bought this little gem of a laptop power PC on Ebay at a fair price. However, research recovery - Discs.com and other similar sites were not successful. Recovery - Discs.com has no one live you can join when you call them and their online registration does NOT work for the Canada addresses ! Other "so-called" recovery disk sites will sell you a disc containing the latest drivers ONLY , and is not the OS, still call their disc a "recovery solution ! Can someone direct me to a solution? I can not even find any information on the site of HP to order a set of replacement of the recovery disks. (??) Any suggestion would be appreciated.

    Hi @danielqk ,

Thank you for visiting the Forums HP's Support and welcome. I looked in your question about your 8440p and problems with start-up Elitebook. You get the error message is a hard drive error. Means that the hard drive has failed.

If the computer is out of warranty, most computer stores can help you select a replacement hard drive.

    I hope this helps.

  • HP ELITEBOOK 8440p: operating system

    Hi guys

I need an OS to my twowarcash computer hand laptop hp elitebook 8440p and is there a free download of this out there? THX

    Jjay00507

The answer to your question is - MAYBE!

That the PC is preinstalled with Win7 or Vista, and go do an install of OS would be buying HP recovery media to restore to the factory settings.  It's not FREE, but it is much less than the US $100 or you would have to pay to buy a copy of Win7.

Two problems with this good (that's what makes this a maybe):

    (1) version of the OS

    (2) availability of the recovery media

    (1) that the PC came with Enterprise, Pro and Home Basic to Win7 - and given that activation is version-specific, you need to restore using the same version.  This info should be on the COA sticker on the laptop.

    (2) HP is no longer a recovery media stocks for the Win7 PC, so a couple of other sites that you can visit are: http://www.computersurgeons.com/ and http://www.restoredisks.com/

Yet once again, that the media is not free, but the cost is far less than buying a copy retail.

As for free - technically, Win10 is not free; Instead, it can be activated from an existing version of Win7, 8, 8.1 - if you need runtime access to a PC with one of these versions of OS to work in order to use Win10.

    Good luck

  • EliteBook 8440p: elitebook 8440p upgrade of windows 10 mess with boot

    Hello!

I bought a refurbished elitebook 8440p with pre-installed windows 7, 8 GB of RAM, 2.40 GHz processor.  I continued to refuse the upgrade of windows 10 when he constantly jumped upward and then one day I turned on the computer and it updated in any cases without permission.

Since the upgrade, if I shut down my computer, or try to put in standby or Hibernate mode, when I go to wake up or put on, I always get a white screen. In general, I have to turn power several times on and off until any startup screen. Then half of the time, when I get a splash screen, my cursor is stuck at the top of the page, moving only left or right whenever I try to move it. So I have to turn and turn until a new screen is displayed.

I studied how to remove 10 windows and reinstall windows 7. I passed the period of 10 days or 30 days. Media creation tool asks for the product key which I type in the sticker on the bottom of the laptop, but do not pass the verification process saying to contact the manufacturer for help.  Apparently there may be specific drivers or something you took when it improved and the media tool does not allow me to create anything for me to do a clean reinstall of windows 7.

I tried to find an option after pressing esc at the f11 reset start screen. There was no option to do so. The best I could do was to 'reset' of the computer, but he took back to the original Windows that it is firstly set at level 10 to. All my files are deleted from the computer. I just want to return to Windows 7, but could not find an effective way to do it.

Thanks for any help you can offer.

  • Please tell me if the laptop HP Elitebook 8440p can be upgraded to 64-bit

I currently have a portable 32-bit HP Elitebook 8440p, running Windows 7. I was wondering if I could upgrade to 64 - bit, so I can actually use more RAM than only 2.98 GB. Please say that I can, I would be so happy. I'm not 100% sure if this is the phone I have, but I think it might be, not sure. http://h20000.www2.HP.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/document.jsp?objectID=c02030597&prodSeriesId=409587...

  • Maximum supported size of HARD drive for HP Elitebook 8440p Windows 7 Pro 64 bit runing

Hello, I just bought a HP Elitebook 8440p "off lease" of Tigerdirect and seeks to upgrade the two memory (from 4 GB to 8 GB) and put in the eligible of the biggest HARD drive I can. Either a 512 GB SSD or a 1 TB WD hybrid WD BLACK2 (1 TB HDD / 120 GB SSD Combo drive in a single package!). I would like to see more large disk addressable by using Windows 7 Pro 64 Bit OS since I don't seem able to find this info on the web. HP offers only only a 256 GB SSD in its specifications. but I didn't know if it was do limitations of BIOS or availability at the time of production, even for the HARD drive to 512 GB.

Also, I would like to know if 9.5 mm compliant Bay that it needs to be for the WD drive. Can't find that either, and while the new laptop has not yet happen, all measure exactly the same way regarding what works and what simply cannot be "cheated".

Thank you for taking the time to read this and NO information to that effect would be Greatl appreciated!

Essentially the reason why you do not have a maximum size of hard drive is because there is not everything. Between SATA and 64-bit OS', worrying about maximum size of hard drive is a thing of the past. Are the biggest readers found in the manual, as you suspected him, just a function of the market at the time of manufacture. It was a few years ago now, it is so understandable that the offerings were "at the time" more thin than now.

    Here is the Service Manual:

    Manual

Page 4-9 shows the procedure of the Bay and the replacement of the hard disk. The Bay is made for a 9.5 mm thickness 2.5-inch wide SATA hard but the new 7 mm readers also works. The black hybrid drive requires some software (included in the package) to treat the two drives in Windows and I read a modest amount of disappointment in the documentation about them. If you can afford the 512 GB SSD go in this direction and you will not be sorry. I use a Samsung 840 Evo and it has worked perfectly for me for almost 2 years and the most recent 850 I hear is even better.

  • HP Elitebook 8440p WWindows7

Hi I have a question, got this laptop (HP Elitebook 8440p) last month it came with 320 GB HD, 3 GB of RAM and Windows 7 Pro 32 bit installed (I also drive original windows 7 32 bit Pro that comes with it). Now, I intend to upgrade the RAM 8 GB, replace with a 128 GB Samsung SSD HD and install Windows 7 Pro 64 bit.

My question is can I use the product key on the underside of the laptop for the installation of 64-bit?

I phoned and asked HP, but I was told that it is not possible that the below key is useless without the original hp windows disc 7 with that he came.

    Hello:

    This is not true.

But why not order a set of recovery disc from HP for $10? Then you don't need the product key.

Tell them you want the floppy drive of W7 Pro 64 bit recovery game. That's what I did with my HP 6930p.

Mine came with 32 bit also and I wanted maximum memory of 8 GB, but only had a 32-bit recovery DVDs.

    Call HP at 1-800-334-5144.

Only, you must also provide the serial number of your PC.

If you don't want to spend $10, then everything just this...

If you can read the Microsoft windows 7 25-character product key, you can download simple Windows 7 ISO files to burn on a DVD for the version of windows that is installed on your PC, and which is listed on the Microsoft COA sticker on your PC case.

Burn the ISO with the option to burn the ISO on your DVD burning program and burn it at the slowest possible speed that will allow your program. This will create a bootable DVD.

Use 25 characters on the PC product key to activate the installation.

The key will activate a 32 or 64 bit installation.

Then go to the support of the PC and driver page to install the drivers you need.

Link to downloads ISO of W7 is below.

There is no default for the BIOS administrator password. It is not intended to be forgotten if defined.

Books of business as your class have stricter security than the class of consumer notebooks.

You can try the utility on this link at your own risk.

    https://forums.Hak5.org/index.php?/topic/31526-HP-probookelitebook-BIOS-password-reset-utility/

Otherwise, the BIOS CMOS chip will be replaced to remove the password.

"He said during the introduction of the" non-system disk or disk error Replace and strike any key when ready '. "."

The operating system BCD store may be corrupted, the hard drive has not, or you have a USB stick plugged into a port. There are a number of things that can cause this error.
