HP ENVY DV7-7212nr motherboard Possible failure?

HP DV7-7212nr ENVY

------------------------

  • Windows 8 (factory) upgraded to Windows Pro 8.1 thru Windows Store.
  • 8 GB RAM DDR3
  • NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M 2 GB GDDR5
  • 750 GB HARD drive with 32 GB WSSD Cache
  • Ralink RT3290 wireless card (beginning to remove connections a few days before this happened)

Last night, I was using my laptop normally and he sat to play a game. During the game, he's dead, and not even think, I just returned it to my office for the next day.

Well, today, I rebooted it and went to turn it on and I have almost nothing! The power light stays on and the hard disk activity is solid for about 2 seconds then turn off. The screen is blank, there is no blinking or beep codes and the WiFi light does not change color indicating that the computer has at least started.

Being a computer scientist, I removed the RAM and reinstalled it. That did not help. I also tried to boot without the hard drive is connected. That does not help either. I also tried the Win + B BIOS recovery with my hard drive and a USB drive and no luck there dry. The last (possibly) worst part is... I removed the RAM and lit without it and still, no code blink or beep.

At this point, I believe that my laptop has a failed motherboard, but I'm just checking from now until I have the chance to call HP support if there is anything else I can try. My warranty expires in three weeks only, if at least it happened before, not after.

In addition, no one knows the direct phone number to the HP support which is on the ground in the USA. I never had a good turn-out speaking with the support of offshore and would like to work with someone who can help me better right off the bat.

Thank you!

I agree, not getting an error with ram removed is a disturbing sign. With regard to the contact options I suggest filling out the form at the bottom of page. That should give you the choice of phone number or the Chat option to contact Technical Support.

    Greetings,

I am in a bind and need help to repair disk hard "do-it-yourself". My fault ID: 9C353G-GLV870-QFPJWJ-60E703

I am no longer under warranty and have no funds currently to be considered in a service center (if it is still available for my location).

Can we please: 1. tell me what means this failure code? and 2.  Is this something I could fix me?

He made a place for 2 hard drives, but the specifications say that it came with 1.

Windows 10 can be reinstalled on a new drive hard if your installation has been activated before. The activation servers Microsoft just know your computer and will be reactive. You must Access the media creation tool and have it make a bootable DVD player or you need a usb thumb drive at least 4 GB.

  • BIOS update failed - DV7-7212nr

I tried to update the BIOS of my Envy DV7-7212nr laptop with the sp60050.exe file, but the procedure was not successful despite having followed all the directions for the procedure. After the computer restarts, the done screen no longer lights. I waited for several hours, but nothing happened. Now when I try to connect to the laptop, the power light comes on, but nothing happens. The screen remains off. Is it possible to restore the BIOS to its previous state?

    Hello

Unzip the BIOS sp60050.exe softpaq and look for the BIOS 0818 file.

Copy it to a USB fash. Rename the extension of bin.

Do it once more and rename the other to. rom.

Now, you will have a picture of the BIOS to restore.

One of the two files will work.

Leave the USB drive connected and start in the environment of the--> management of the UEFI BIOS and this time path to where you have the file .bin and ROM file saved. Choose the image and restore the BIOS.

the following image is extracted from the sp60050.exe softpaq BIOS files.

  • Brand new dv7-7212nr want missing SW or config for SSD?

Just bought a new non-custom desire dv7-7212nr 2 days ago.  Main specifications are:

    3rd gen i7-3630QM

750 GB 7200 RPM HARD drive

Drive hard acceleration Cache 32 GB SSD

    8 GB OF SDRAM

    Windows 8

Other components are irrelevent to my questions or situation.

The wording 'Hard Drive Acceleraton Cache 32 GB SSD' spec would mainly means the technology Intel Rapid Storage, perhaps combined with the Intel Quick start technology.  Yet, on this computer, I can find only an Intel Rapid Start Technology Manager.

In Panel of-> system and security-> administration-> computer management tools > storage-> disk management, I can see disk 0 to 699 GB with several partitions, which include the OS (C) and (D) RECOVERY.

Disc 1 has proved to have an 8 GB partition.

I find that disk 1 is the SSD and this computer has only the Intel Rapid Start SW technology and configuration.  I read on the internet for this tech in fast ignition to work, an SSD should have a partition that is exactly the same size as the SDRAM.

My first set of questions are: 1) is my correct conclusion? (2) how HP put in an SSD of 32 GB and uses only 8 GB of it?

I chatted online with an HP support who asked me to download from a website for HP Intel Rapid Storage Technology and SW drivers and assured me that the installation would not cause any problems or conflicts with the existing configuration, and so I did.  I have no ill effect (yet), but it doesn't seem to be that a good effect is.  On the one hand, it is supposed to be a new 'Intel Rapid Storage Technology' application, but there is none.  So HP support and I can not go further, and support suggested that I do a system recovery, return the setting to factory.  I told him the computer is 2 days, and I to him did nothing other than downloads, that he asked me to do.

My next set of questions are: a) HP wouldn't put in quick start and quick storage in this product, taking into account the SSD of 32 GB? (b) is there a way to add storage now fast SW and config to envy dv7-7212nr to fully use the 32 GB of SSD? (c) do I keep off to pass my own files on this computer before the problem of cache SSD?

Finally, I did the Windows experience index runs on the computer and got a score of 5.9 on performance of the hard disk.  I read on the internet that the score is in line with the performance of disk HARD 7200 RPM, which suggests no effect of cache SDS.

I realize I'm putting in a long post, but I wanted to provide enough information for the experts to evaluate and give answers.

    Thank you very much!

    XLIU wrote:

So, how do I know / check / detect that the other 24G of the 32 GB of SSD is used for the RAID config? Thought that the RAID has not SSD.

I looked at the config of the BIOS at startup; It shows no option for TSRI but only Intel Rapid Start Tech. It seems that the dv7-7212nr want to support any, TSRI unlike advertising on the dv7-7212nr box.

First of all, make sure that you download and install the driver of technology Intel Rapid STORAGE for the Envy HP dv7-7212nr here:

    http://h10025.www1.HP.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=ob-112591-1&cc=us&DLC=en&LC=en&OS=4132&product=5309489&sw_lang=

After installation, find Intel Rapid Storage Technology and run. It must start with a screen that looks like this:

It's my real desire HP dv7-7212nr. The screen may be slightly different from mine because I fiddled with technology Intel Rapid Storage Technology (for example, the default Cache volume is 22 GB, where, as mine said 21 GB). Although the WSSD is 32 GB, the size displayed in the Windows is always less than the specified size (30 GB instead of 32 GB). Similarly, the 750 GB hard drive is displayed as GB 699.

As you may already know, the 8 GB data volume is configured as a partition hibernation for Intel Quick START technology, and the rest, 21 GB in my case, is used as cache acceleration to Intel Rapid STORAGE Technology. The status of SATA (750 GB HDD) drive "fast-track" means that the hard drive is "fast-track" by the cache on the SSD drive and that it is configured and working properly. You can easily change these settings if you take the time to read and learn about it; for example, you can disable the quick START (hibernation partition) and use the whole SSD for fast STORAGE (acceleration).

Your BIOS should certainly have an entry indicating the Intel Rapid STORAGE technology works properly. I forgot the exact name of it, but I will edit this post to let you know what he said exactly once that I reboot to enter the BIOS again.

Edit: In the BIOS, go to System Configuration > UEFI Device Configuration (under Intel Rapid Start technology) > technology Intel Rapid Storage Technology and you should see a screen similar to mine below:

As you can see, I've fiddled with my setup of the WSSD, and so my quick partition start (hibernation) is in fact 8.3 GB (slightly larger than the default value) and my cache volume is 21.5 GB (slightly smaller than the default value).

  • Dv7-7250sw envy: replacing the motherboard in Envy dv7-7350sw

    Hello

I have some questions to ask:

    1. is it possible to replace the motherboard in this laptop with motherboard with better graphics card? If there is could you write a serial number and model.

    2. my motherboard is broken - beyond repair and I need a new, same motherboard that the original is not found. Is it possible to order directly form maker? If there is, I would ask for contact and some tips.

    I'd appreciate any help ^^

You have listed two different models, of which one is an AMD processor and the other is Intel. I will assume that you have the Intel model. Otherwise after return to clarify and we can do it for a model of AMD. Even if you have a processor AMD motherboard described below would be better, but you will have to get a motherboard and processor, of course.

    Here is the Service Manual:

    Your manual

    Your listing:

    http://h20564.www2.HP.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docid=c03635483

You have an i7-3630QM and nVidia GT650M video.

The jury will have a faster processor; up to an Intel Quad Core i7-3840QM but it is no better than the 650 M video, you already have. In other words, you have the top of the motherboard brand for this model, and no better motherboard will fit in the chassis.

    You have this motherboard:

To be used on computer models equipped with an Intel quad core NVIDIAR GeForceR 650 graphical subsystem of M with 2 GB memory discreet and operating system Windows 8 Standard 682040-501

I have some difficulty to check, but here he is waiting in HP Partsurfer upward:

    http://PartSurfer.HP.com/search.aspx?SearchText=682040-501

You can contact HP from this link, but I think it's maybe out of stock at HP.

This seller has for $130, which is a pretty fair price:

    http://www.notebookparts.com/HP-envy-dv7-7200-dv7-7300-Intel-motherboard-682040-501/

I have bought from notebookparts.com and it is a reputable site.

    Hi all

I'm working on a laptop HP Envy dv7 - 7227cl.  I replaced the motherboard and have now two questions... one is that the system requires an activation again.

The other is that the new motherboard will not charge the battery... It wasn't a problem on the old motherboard...

Battery test told me that the battery failed the test when you use hardware diagnostics from the bios.

I don't have another battery to test with.

I know that the original motherboard is a 682220-501 (part number of HP), and the news he gave me is a 682220-001... Could it be the problem?

  • Upgrade the RAM for HP ENVY dv7-7233nr

How much could I add? I currently have 481 GB free of 569 GB. My computer will not slow down, but I use this laptop for games and I would like to have more space for custom content for the Sims 3 to download. It works not too badly, but there is a little late, and sometimes it freezes. I don't know if it is possible to add ram, so that's why I'm here.

I would like to know how I'm going to do.

    Hello

A little delay could be due to its graphics, BUT you can't do anything on this subject. Your machine currently has 6 GB of RAM:

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c03509235

You can switch to 16 GB as shown:

    http://www.crucial.com/upgrade/HP+-+Compaq-memory/envy+dv7/envy+dv7-7233nr-upgrades.html

You can buy from them or use the information (including the price) to buy elsewhere.

  • HP Envy Dv7-7255dx could not use records to Support HP; All testing equipment

    Hi all

I'm trying to fix my friend computer that crashed about 2 weeks ago.

My current problem is that the system recovery disks did not work at all on the 3 times I tried the system restore on this device.

I think there may be a BIOS problem, because it's the only option in addition to the hardware failure I try hard.  I contacted HP support to try to get the BIOS update file or a file of recovery, and they said that they cannot provide for me, so my only option with HP is to send in support and the unit is out of warranty.

The main thing I am looking for is the BIOS file so that I can reinstall the BIOS to see if it's actually the question before having to spend money to get this repaired laptop.

I searched a lot and have been unable to find any BIOS file for this exact model, so if anyone has any ideas as to where I could find it, or should I try, it would be greatly appreciated.

  • Hinge for the HP ENVY dv7 problem

I bought a HP ENVY dv7 two years December 6, 2012.  I don't really know when this hinge problem started, but when I saw the first time I've been a bit supprised then ignored it, thinking it was no big deal. But then he began to cause more problems than time and whenever I opened my laptop, problems such that the angle of the face has been slowly poping up and the window too.

I now could push corn on the backs of the part to place when never opened the laptop and the part comes out even when I close, so I would it push in place.

Last night, I discovered that the rear corner detached reveling inside the laptop when closed. I found the piece broke not for long. I think the part that is interrupted when I was placing the laptop inside my bag.  On a side note, not once I have droped laptop.

Is there anyway to fix my problem of Hindge?

In fact I recently fixed it my self...

I guess the screw jumped and it is the only screw that holds one side of the hinge in place.

I just replaced the missing screw with one of the screws in back and it's been fixed just like new. Well other than breakage of exhibits... I also noticed that the other screws were not tight all the way.

    I hope this helps.

  • activate the AHCI mode on Envy Dv7 - 7398ca with SSD

    Year old i7 envy Dv7 - 7398ca notebook with SSD Samsung 840 Pro x 256.  Windows 8.1

I've updated to the SSD shortly after I purchsed the laptop.

No problem except the Samsung SSD Wizard software keeps tagging me as AHCI mode is disabled and must be enabled and I do not see it in the BIOS.

Or I see anything that relates in the device as IDE Manager or other.

It seems that the SSD is optimizing not itself based on the fact that it considers that AHCI is disabled.

I apologize for the issue being this topic seems to be beaten to death over time, but I do not see what relates to this model or similar.

    Thanks for all the ideas.

The system is set to ahci or RAID mode. You can tell that by opening the Device Manager and look at the storage controllers. Anyway it is optimized for SSDS and TRIM is activated. You can simply remove the program from Samsung and rest assured that your SSD is optimized.

Yes, the BIOS of your laptop includes a white list. HP has ceased to put it on the new laptops on time of the year graces last on assembled laptops that later, but the withdrawal from the whitelist was not retroactive. If it was there when your laptop was new, it is still there.
