HP Pavilion 15-p211ne: upgrade to ssd drive

Hello

I recently bought a new HP Pavilion 15-p211ne and I want to replace the optical drive with ssd drive, I have the following questions:
1 should I put the SSD as a secondary drive and reinstall windows, or it must be primary?
2. What is the right size: 9.5 mm Universal SATA 2nd disc HARD SSD Hard Drive Caddy for CD / DVD-ROM optical Bay or 12.7 mm
3. is there an official Universal SATA drive 2nd HARD SSD Caddy drive for CD / DVD-ROM optical Bay of HP, and is it safe to install no hp caddy on my new laptop computer.

Kind regards

Here is the Service Manual:

Manual

It is a 9.5 mm optical drive. See page 63 for removal instructions. You can use any optical drive SATA 9.5 mm hard drive adapter tray. HP is no 'official' part, so you must use a version of alternative, and they are widely available. Try jacobsparts.com.

However, the SATA interface for the optical drive is slower and will not support booting from the hard disk into the adapter. So I advise you not to put a SSD in one of these adapters because it will not run at full speed.

The optimal configuration is an SSD as main boot drive and a mechanical drive in pure storage adapter.

Unfortunately, access to the hard drive inside the laptop is a little difficult and potentially void the warranty if you mess up anything in the process. The manual contains instructions to access the hard disk (p. 88), and these videos show the removal of the top cover (on a closely related model) which is the hardest part:

Pavilion DV6215us is SSD Samsung 850 EVO compatible? I cloned the original Hitachi hard drive and everything was going well. I have installed the Samsung and porwered upwards. The answer is only pushed Esc to get to settings that meets never or boots.  Given that the new drive to adapt very well and everything seemed fine before installing it is there any reason this SSD shouldn't work?  Y at - it info on SSD drives will work with the laptop?  Thank you

Yes the DV6000 by DV6499 series with AMD processor is not able to support an SSD. The storage controller uses a SATA interface, but it is 'false' SATA running on a legacy IDE bus. No ahci, which is necessary for the operation of the SSD. That's why we put Windows XP on them without any special driver tips during installation.

  • Pavilion DV6433cl: What I can Uprade HP Pavilion DV6433cl to 256 GB SSD drive

I have a HP Pavilion DV6433cl laptop and I would like to replace my 160 GB drive existing with a 256 GB SSD to speed things up. I'm running Windows Vista Ultimate and have bios f.2e installed.

    1 is it possible?

    2. If so, what are the specifications of the ssd I have to be on the lookout for and I need to install drivers or software to run easily and quickly?  Suggestions for specific ssd that work would be most appreciated.

I think I read somewhere that I can replace/install the sticks of memory 2 X 2 GB (4 GB of memory in total) for the 2 X 1 GB sticks that are currently in the laptop because I have the system BIOS F2. E installed?  The next job? : Hynix full 4 GB RAM 2x2gb DDR2-800 PC2 - 6400S DDR2 200pin SODIMM memory

Thanks in advance for your time and answers.

Yes, you have true SATA hardware more early in order to be able to run an SSD. Your SATA is SATA-I 150 Mbps, but more recent readers SATA-III will downclock. Samsung Evo 840 years ago great records and we'll work for you.

Your memory is officially maxxed to 2 GB, but 3 works for almost everyone. 4 will not. The memory is DDR2-667 DDR2-800 not.

I strongly suggest upgrading to Windows 7. He manages the SSD better than Vista. With Windows 7, it is roughly homogeneous. Just install the SSD as a hard drive and make sure that the storage of BIOS has native SATA (ahci) value and not the legacy (IDE).

  • HPE-400f: upgraded to SSD drive, partitions are left behind I need help to remove.

I upgraded to 250 GB SSD

I did the recovery disk and install it on the new SSD. How can I now safely remove partitions and merge it with the original disc of ssd? I want to use the 1 TB as a storage for programs to run off the SSD device how to do this and remove the operating system?

    Greetings,

Please refer to thisarticleon partitioning and formatting a HARD drive using disk management.

Yet once, you will be able to remove the volume of the BONE and, possibly, volume HP_Recovery Microsoft disk management. The reserved 100 MB volume will likely be removed using third-party disk management software.

Do not use HP Recovery Manager to remove the HP_Recovery Partition. You remove the HP_Recovery Partition SSD , not the HP_Recovery Partition of HARD drive.

In addition, it is not necessary to remove the reserved partition of 100 MB system on the HARD drive because it is so small relative to the size of the HARD drive. It is hidden so you won't see it in Windows Explorer.

  • Pavilion x 1035: upgrade to SSD and a few questions.

Sorry if some of these questions have been answered, but I've been reading for hours and really have not found an answer.

    I have a x 1035 Pavilion M6

    (1) I have a 500 GB Samsung 850 EVO HD I would install. According to the properties of the disk my Pavilion is a space 576 GB HD is this drive to small or compress it used cloning of adjustment (sorry showing 446 GB)?

    (2) I still have to make the recovery disks, but it would be better to do a new install?

    (3) I have a full version W7 can this be used? I don't have product key for my current installation, but do not know if I remember receiving OEM disc.

    (4) I did a more recent return as today, can I restore back to who?

    (5) th DVD rom can be removed and allows you to add a second HD?

Yes, you can use an optical drive bay adapter to fit a second hard drive. You see this as purely for storage because: 1. not bootable. and 2. turns at SATA I have 150 Mbps speed only. Still fast enough to playback video, but much slower than SATA-III 600 Mbps.

The best way to transfer settings is with Windows Easy Transfer. Make the 'old computer' Easy compressed Transfer of the old installation file, save on an external and then use the "new computer" transfer tool on the new configuration. Adjustment of the installation of the new on the SSD using the same Userid as the original installation made work better. It will transfer more stuff as Favorites, recorded the wireless identification information and other things which otherwise is very much work to reproduce. You can also use Easy Transfer to move docs, pictures, etc. on or just configured to save and transfer settings.

  • Can I add a third hard drive to h9 Pavilion HPE currently have an SSD drive and a SATA drive?

HP Pavilion HPE h9 (Phoenix), win 7 64

Can I add a third SATA drive to my system?  The specs say three bays are available, but when I ordered it I could not add a third (or greater than 1 TB drives).  Is there something on the SSD that changes the spacing of the drive Bay?  I prefer not to take the walk outside if there is no way to add another drive.

    Hello

Please report the number of HP for your PC product.

You review this article and video?  You will need to remove the cage hard disk to install the third hard disk. In general, the SSD is in the middle of each side mounting with HDDs of 3.5 ".  Hard drive cage is made for three hard disks.

The specifications indicate theProvisioning for three hard drives on this particular model. The firm seems to be the same as the other two models HPE H9.

  • Pavilion 15-n259se: upgrade to ssd Amp (power consumption) or

    Hi all
    I have 15-n259se flag which comes with 500 GB seagate with a consumption of 5 v, Amp.451
I bought a 1 TB SSD which have 5V power consumption and 1.5 Amp it will propply function is or is not
NOTE will have 1 SSD has more than normal HARD drive
    SRY for bad English
    THX

Not sure where the power requirement data comes. The SSD uses 335mw at idle and 1.76w read and 3.66 watt to write.

The hard drive uses 810mw idling and 220mw 2.85 watts in standby and 2.6 watts to read to write.

    http://www.AnandTech.com/show/8792/transcend-ssd370-128gb-256gb-512gb-review

    http://www.Seagate.com/docs/PDF/datasheet/disc/ds_momentus_5400_6.PDF

The SSD draws less power at idle and is good idling more than a hard drive because it ends its operations much more quickly so that it uses a lot less energy over time and in use.

Long story short: the SSD will be fine.

  • dv5 - 2077cl: upgrade to SSD drive

Is the operating system windows 7 configured to work automatically in sata ahci mode? I read on a blog that it is and that's why its not available as a selection in the system BIOS. Can anyone confirm? My system is a platform amd 880g with radeon hd4250 integrated mobile graphics processor. It is based ddr3 memory.

Update: the SSD works as it should after all windows 7 updates have been downloaded and installed. There is no need to change the registry settings. Thanks to all who have shared their knowledge in this area. Hope this information helps others.

  • Upgrade the hard drive and OSX

I have a macbook pro 2009 environment.  He was bought with Snow Leopard, but now running the Mavericks.  I'm looking to upgrade to SSD drive, but I don't want to clone each update of Snow Leopard for the Mavericks.  I was wondering if there was a simpler solution that: Copping files on an external drive, install the SSD with Snow leopard, then the upgrade to the Mavericks and reloading files.  Any other suggestions/easier way would be appreciated!

    Thank you

The easy way is to clone your current HDD to the SSD. Then you would start from where you are today.
