HP pavilion 500-281 adding second drive

New HP Clubhouse 500 arrived today.

I have the sata pc win7 with m.b. blown off the power drive

When I plug in the sata, PC does not recognize the second disk?

If I connect it to my Dell with Win7, recognized instantly, so I do understand not (computer management/disk management)

STD sata drive W/D 1 TB harddrive

If I want to boot from a USB key, I can't get my PC to recognize. I thought I could just go to Configuration and change the sequence of boot for sandisk usb is selected? But at least computer/manage/diskmgmt shows the usb key.

Doesn't seem to change the boot, he wants to just go into windows?

Thank you, Howie

It was again being shipped with TPG/GUID/UEFI PC.

Unfortunately, this makes it almost impossible to restore a hard disk MBR or install linux dual boot.

Using Paragon Hard Drive Manager 14, I was able to convert the old UEFI/GPT disk and can start, at least as long, that's not the hard drive of the o/s. So, I can access its files, but not in the registry.

This also explains why I couldn't even boot with my USB (MBR) hard drive attached.

  • Pavilion 500-098: adding hard drive, but no 2nd hard drive Bay

I want to add a second internal hard drive to this computer, but unfortunately the computer has only a hard drive Bay. There is plenty of space for a second hard drive, I thought that I would put the player in the unused space, setting in place somehow so that it does not move. I know I could install an external hard drive, but prefer to have an internal hard drive. The power supply has a supplement of power supply (unused) harddrive.  The motherboard is a Joshua-H61-Μatx. It has 4 SATA connections on it.  SATA0 is connected to the hard drive, SATA2 is connected to the DVD player. SATA1 and SATA3 are free. My idea of adding a second hard drive without a second HDD Bay would work?

  • Pavilion dv7 4053 cl: Pavilion dv7 4053cl adding second hard drive

I replaced with success the stock HDD in my laptop with an SSD.

I want to continue to use the old HDD in the laptop well, and it seems that I have a second drive Bay HARD in which HARD drive can adapt. I have not, however, see a SATA connector on the motherboard for a second HDD connection.

There is a SATA connector to the disk HARD primary (symbols of disc 1, marked on the plastic) and there are two connectors near the RAM, which seem not to be SATA, and my optical disc drive is connected.

Am I missing something, or is there is no place on the motherboard to connect a second HARD (well, or SSD) via SATA drive?

Hi, this is my first post.

I want to add an SSD, I am looking at a Kingston 240 gig ssdnow v300 upgrade kit.

I still run the operating system with the already hard drive of 1 t. So the additional SSD will be an extra disk to run VSTs for piano who need the extra speed to run smooth.

I have the additional available seats in the 500-119 Office Pavilion and the motherboard will accept an SSD?

He do this upgrade and are there additional changes I have to do after having mounted the additional disk is easy?

    My system is:

    A10-6700 APU 3.70 GHz AMD

Any advise will be greatly appreciated.

Let's get down to the potential pitfalls:

    1. your HP computer uses Jasmine-R motherboard (MSI MS-7778) with six 6 internal SATA 6 Gb/s ports. beautiful card mother AMD, many SATA ports. GOOD to GO.
    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c03757575

    2. it is a MidTower case, with the hard drive mounted on a Vertical support, bottom left (view after removing the side panel). Follow the Web link below, for this how to (open side panel):
    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c04100666

    3. IF you want to add a second drive, in this case a 2.5 "Solid - State Drive (SSD), I see three 3 potential location.

(A.) mounted horizontally, with support of the adapter in the box below the DVD/CD drive.

    (B) vertically, mounted on the Panel lower front of the computer case.
A 3.5 "to 2.5" adapter support can facilitate this fixation or the player first itself (using the 4 holes tapped on bottom of SSD) IF the perforations (ventilation, fan, hard drive carrier) line up properly.

(C.) mounted horizontally on the botton (floor) of the case. Location does not fit all applications.
The San disk Extreme Pro SSD, I bought in 2014, has been mounting spacer/vibration rubber that could allow this type of editing with a contact adhesive. This montage approach is not appropriate in all cases.

Selling manufacturers SSD Kits and readers Raw (desktop, laptop)- so working with your store of the local computer for sale retail (££ or €) for a proper selection.

    4. REVIEW the available power cables (SATA style) for their ability to reach these 3 mounting locations.
Extensions are available from box Mod shops and retail stores.

  • Pavilion 500-281: where to install a SSD and the best way to get the operating system on it

I have a Pavilion nine 500-281 with Win 7. I bouight a SSD 128 GB to load the operating system on it.  Where can I get inside the chassis? It seem not to be berries of classical records. It came with an adapter with the screw plate, but it's not obvious where I was able to ride the thing!

In addition, can I just run a restore to get the OS on the SSD drive, once I have installed?  I received instructions with the SSD for ADATA software copy an image of the disk, but all I want is the operating system.  I'm dying to start using my new computer, but I think I want to get the reader installed first before you make any changes that he.

    Hello

Review the #8 message in this thread.  Not all models of the 500 - 2xx Pavilion are provisioned for the SSD in the location as shown.  In the indicated installation, an adapter plate was not necessary.

Most SSD manufacturers have free software migration.  I suggest that you image the entire HD, all partitions even hidden partitions.  Some of the more recent migration software will allow you to exclude your data records.

    Hi @Fraser11,

Welcome to the Forums of HP's Support.   I believe that since the departure of the power supply in your Pavilion 500-076ea that your hard drive is no longer detected.   I am convinced that I will be able to help you find a solution, and I ask only that pay you it forward. Thanks for any help you can give me.

    [Personal information]

HERE IS THE SPEC PAGE for this unit.  It lists the processors i5 which will work with the motherboard, just scroll down.

The intel hd graphics card 4400 is part of the processor but will be promoted to the Intel HD Graphics 4600 (GT2) with any of the i5 processors listed.  If more than one upgrade is necessary, you should know that food can be a problem and the graphical upgrade with Intel onboard graphics is somewhat a problem, too.  Be very sure, through research, that works in the motherboard video card to the study. • Pavilion 9408nr: Add a second drive for another main drive for laptops

How can I add a second drive for another main drive of laptop computers. I took the car on the same cell type that crashed by the motherboard. I put it in drive Bay 2. Problems with starting. I sometimes want to boot from disc 2. Is there a MBR somewhere? Are there jumpers to make it slave. Sometimes it will install the software on 2 without any question. Is there a way to make a slave?

Important-copy all data on the second hard drive you want to save on the first hard drive.

MBR of Windows with the hard drive. Use Windows Explorer to locate the second hard drive. Right-click on it and format it.  Once this done, all what one is a storage device and not bootable until the operating system is installed to it.

The BIOS will only see the hard drive as a bootable as it will now be the only drive with a MBR boot sector.

The days of placement of the jumpers to determine master or slave on the disks hard is long gone. SATA drives have no jumpers slave\master like the old school IDE and Eide did.

  • Adding second drive of DVD to H8-1234.

The H8-1234 has an open slot and a power connector of alternatives for adding a second DVD player.  However, the existing SATA cable has only one connector. HP offers a cable two connector? Can I use a SATA cable two connectors "generic"?  Finally, the H8-1234 will work with a second DVD disc?  Thank you.

Here are the specifications of your desktop HP Pavilion HPE h8-1234. According to specifications, your system has six (6) SATA connectors on the motherboard. Unlike the IDE/PATA, SATA supports only one device per cable. Install another CD/DVD/BluRay drive will require you to buy another SATA data cable to make it work. And YES, the computer will function normally with a second optical drive installed.

This office is new and has Windows 7.  I can't print from this computer.  I have an Officejet Pro 8600.  I have a popup that says "Search for wireless, network and eprint printers."   I don't know how to provide this popup with all that he needs.  The printer is already listed on the popup, but this is not enough.

  • Office pavilion 500-281 model: half-moon key wired keyboard

There are a few keys that are new and have uncertain functions.

    (1) the half-moon key. He hit once and monitor will dim but visible, he struck again and monitor goes completely dark, struck again and not change even after repeated srtrikes. How do you get screen back normal?

    (2) three lights? in the upper right corner. 1, has and a down arrow. What are the thses all about?

    Hi @ruska ,

Question #1 - the half moon button is for mode 'sleep'. Moving the mouse should get your normal screen after pressing this button.

Question #2 - these lights represent num, caps lock, shift, and stop scroll. When the NUMLOCK is turned on, the keypad 10 buttons on the side of the keyboard is activated. With the caps lock on, letters are typed in uppercase without hold the SHIFT key. Here is an article in Wikipedia where you can learn more on Scroll Lock.
