HP Pavilion DV7-6154nr incorrect sound driver?

Hello, I bought this laptop a few years ago, and since then, I had to reformat and update my installation of windows.

After the first time I did a format hard drive, I noticed my sound quality was MUCH worse, and my knees did NOT use the integrated subwoofer (Beats Audio). I have audio, but this isn't the same quality.

I was advised to install IDT audio drivers for my model, but I cannot yet access the audio interface of beats after, and will be the subwoofer or sound work improved.

After you have installed the recommended card drivers, I go to the control panel > sounds and try to find anything with a hint of the interface audio beats or settings, but I don't see speakers "2-high definition Audio Device", and device lists 2 audio interfaces Manager, ' AMD high definition Audio Device "and"high definition Audio Device ".

I'm sure theres nothing wrong with my speakers, they stopped just by using the improved sound and the subwoofer, after my reformat, just after in fact.

Model system and specifications:

HP Pavilion DV7-6154nr

Windows 7 Ultimate x 64

There is no sound from the internal speakers.  Last update of IDT Audio received 11/3.  Didn't notice any sound shortly after this.  OBD reported no sound internal speakers.  Do I need an updated driver?

    Thank you!

    Hello

    Try the following.

Download IDT Audio Installer on the link below and save it in your downloads folder.

    http://ftp.HP.com/pub/SoftPaq/sp58001-58500/sp58226.exe

One time finished, open windows control panel, open Device Manager and open sound, video and game controllers.  Right click on the IDT device and select uninstall - also, you should get a command prompt to delete the current driver, check the box allow this and then proceed to uninstall.

When you're done, shut down the laptop, unplug the AC adapter and then remove the battery.  Press and hold the Power button for 30 seconds.  Reinsert the battery and plug in the AC adapter.

Robinet tap away at the key esc that you start the computer to launch the Start Menu, and then select f10 to open the bios menu.  Press f5 to load the default values (sometimes it's f9, but the menu below indicates the correct key), use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and press ENTER.  Press f10 to save the setting and still use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and press on enter.

Allow Windows to fully - charge it will automatically load an audio driver, but let just this complete.  Then open your download folder, right-click on the IDT Installer and select "Run as Administrator" to launch the installation.  Once this done, do a right-click the speaker icon in the taskbar and select playback devices.  'Speakers and headphones' left click once to highlight, and then click the Set Default button - check if you now audio.

Can I replace the stock 640GB hard drive in HP Pavilion dv7-4285dx with a 2 to or is there a limit of 1 TB?

If not, I would like to add another hard drive in the second empty Bay, but don't see any plug for the extra cable in this notebook.

    Hi @LaurieJC ,

Thank you for visiting the HP Forums! A place where you can find solutions for your problems with the help of the community!

I stumbled upon your post on the laptop and wanted to help you! I looked in your question about your HP Pavilion dv7-4285dx Notebook and want to improve the hard. Here is a link to your service manual page 48 for Hard drive specifications. I checked on the possibility of installing 1 TB and it shows me if you keep to 1 TB 2.5 internal SSD SATA 6.0 GB/s • 555 MB/sec in reading, 500 MB/s write plug, you'll be fine.

I hope that this address your concerns.

    Thank you.

    Hello

The SMART error would certainly indicate the hard drive is faulty and should be replaced.  The first thing you can do is to back up all your personal files etc as soon as you can.

The player at the link below is an example of one that would be perfect for your laptop.

750 GB hard drive for laptop.

The procedure to replace the hard drive begins on Page 53 of your & Maintenance Guide.

Once this is done, simply use your recovery DVDs to reinstall the operating system on the new drive - see the document here.

If you do not have your recovery discs, you can order a replacement set using the link below.

    Order HP recovery disks.

If you have a problem with this link, order them directly from HP.

If you live in the United States, contact HP here.

  • HP Pavilion dv7-4180ea second hard drive

I recently bought a HP Pavilion dv7-4180ea (XE274EA #ABU). One of the reasons why I chose this laptop was because it was announced as being able to have two hard drives.

When I open the HDD I discovered that it there is no way to install a second hard drive, because the cable and the caddy is missing.

Anyone know the part number for it? The necessary cable is longer, so the previous parts for DV7 don't work with it. I called my local provider of HP, and they did not know the number of the piece, which is a little ridiculous. I probably have to pay RIP-OFF prices for something that should have been included in the laptop in the first place.

HP has not yet, but do to the sites of third parties.

    NewMode

These guys are the main suppliers of spare hard drive caddy. It will work. HP eventually will do the part available but don't hold your breath. $40 is a bit strong but not terrible. HP will charge more when they make available.

    Hello

If you have a MediaSmart software installed on your portable computer, the volume OSD (on-screen display) is provided by HP MediaSmart SmartMenu - you can download and reinstall this app from the following link.

    http://ftp.HP.com/pub/SoftPaq/sp45001-45500/sp45140.exe

When the installation is complete, restart the computer and let Windows load fully before checking if it works fine now.

  • HP Pavilion DV7 - 4183CL: what HARD drive can I install in a HP Pavilion DV7 - 4183CL?

    Hi all

Realized that my DV7 - 4183CL has an empty HARD disk can you please suggest what tech HARD drive config do I add? Thanks in advance.

It will take any hard disk 2.5 inch wide portable SATA. The real issue is the amount of space that you want to add, and what is your budget? The second hard drive is not bootable, so it's purely a place to store files. 500 GB drives are cheap and 500 gigs is a ton of space for music, photos, movies, even.

You're going to need a second hard drive enclosure and the connector:

  • Pavilion dv7: replace the boot drive primary hdd2

My flag has two hard drives. I cloned the startup disk (1) on the secondary drive (2). Now, I want to move the disc 2 in the main drive as boot drive Bay. What is necessary to achieve this. Is there the bios settings to change or identify the settings on the readers who need to change?

N ° all what you need to do is physically swap posts. The method varies a bit between generations dv7 different but basically you remove cover license plate and Exchange readers, for one another. If you give us the exact model, we can probably find illustrated instructions and maybe even a video.

Only in the Bay of primary is bootable, which serves as a fail-safe.

  • Pavilion dv7-6143 cl hard drive

    Hello

My lap top is 3 years old, and since I got it I had problems with the hard drive. HP replaced it last year, and it's broken again. I run the hard drive test, and it shows that the hd is full. It is not the case, because when I started in safe mode, he showed plant space. After that I booted up average reguar, power has been very slow, and when I tried to stop him, he is crushed. I just need a replacement, do not know what should I llok for. Can also use my recovery disk to download the drivers and the OS? The one I received from HP had all of the preloaded applications.

    Thank you

    Hello

The following HARD disk is an example that would be perfect for your laptop.

    750 GB hard drive.

The procedure to replace the hard drive begins on Page 64 of your & Maintenance Guide.

Your recovery disks will reinstall the operating system, all the drivers and almost all of the original software (the exception being often tests of MS Office).  They also recreate the original scores, including the recovery Partition - this procedure is detailed in the document of HP here.
