HP Pavilion G6 1053sa: 5 years, Pavilion G6 1053sa upgrade

Hi all

I have a few questions. I would like to update some of the equipment in my Pavilion 1053sa that I bought in 2011.  Firstly what processors can I switch to? Currently, I have the 2.66 GHz Intel Core i5 - 480 M, is it possible to upgrade to a Core core i7, 640M or a 620M? My laptop will still support another cpu?

Second, what is the maximum amount of RAM that I can integrate this laptop? Currently, I have 8 GB, is it possible to install more than that?

And the last question is really optional, but is it all eyboards backlit for this model? I've looked everywhere and the keyboards I have come across won't fit my laptop.

Thank you

You will need the manual of maintenance here:

Manual

But from the manual, you have used with the 1st generation of processor Core Intel HM55 chipset and the i5 - 480 M is the high-end. i7s are only offered with the HM65 chipset supported generation processors 2d. You can theoretically replace the motherboard and CPU, but this is not going to be a good financial option.

8 GB is the maximum memory. So the key is that you already have the computer maxxed out for the processor and the RAM. No backlit keyboard is available. If you want to keep the laptop, the only upgrade, I can recommend, and I do it without reservation is an SSD. It will not help the video performance, but improve the rest of the user experience so that you will think that you have an i7 and 16 GB of RAM. Time to start up faster (much faster) and just generally peppier performance is the result. A perfectly usable concert 240 SSD is about $90 and a 500 gig is maybe $ 170. And it's much easier to do than a processor.

After the back if you want to talk more.

    HI Brendan Strong,

Subscription is not attached to the version of Captivate. You can download 9 Captivate and use the same subscription id. Make sure you disconnect from Captivate 8, as this is considered to be new use for instance of Captivate with the subscription ID.

  • HP Pavilion 500-311no: the hp Pavilion 500-311no upgrade

Hp Pavilion 500-311no desktop PC, I bought a few years ago and now I feel like I would get some more power out of it then is it possible to upgrade this computer. I use mostly this pc for a game so what I'm looking to upgrade is the gpu. It seems that the motherboard supports the latest grphics cards and I think they should also fit the case. Incase of replacement parts, the power supply needs to be replaced probably as well. Also overclocking motherboard support and how the overclocking and replacement parts affect warranty?

    Greetings,

You have some positives on your side:

    PCIe available x 16 slot 3.0.

    UEFI BIOS.

Your chassis will limit the duration of the update of the graphics card.

You have only a 300 Watt power supply.

Most of the HP motherboards cannot be overclocked. I have a processor Intel 4820 K. HP offers limited overclocking abilities with this processor.

Check the measurements on the existing power supply.  A diet of 600 runs most new graphics cards high-end. NVIDIA cards tend to require less energy than equivalent AMD cards.

Check the height of the rear panel input/output where the x 16 slot is to determine the maximum length of a new card.

Shop for a new card graphics and power supply when you know your limits. The high-end cards are usually double slot. Make sure you have room to install a card double slot. You need to be able to burst a second plate of input/output rear panel to install a dual slot graphics card.

Modular power supplies reduce tangles of cables in the chassis.

    See you soon!

  • Pavilion 15-P035NF: upgrading RAM Pavilion 15-P035NF - Help!

    Hi evreyone.

    I have a Pavilion 15-P035NF (J1Y40EA #ABF) with 1 RAM memory 4 GB DDR3L 1600.

I would like to upgrade. But before disassembling the laptop (not simple operation) I would like to know if I have one or two slots available, as such, I can go (16 GB?) and what type of RAM is compatible.

I don't see it in the system of the free laptop because it broke down (my laptop age: 1.5 years...) and I need to replace the hard drive (by a SSD).

If I look in the specific information related to this laptop, HP customer support are not available...

    Can you help me please?

  • Clarification needed Pavilion a1120n memory upgrade

First time on the Forum, need for clarification after reading others entry and to collect the necessary information on the PC in question.

HP Media Center Edition Pavilion a1120n

    Processor: Pentium 4 519 (p) 3.06 ghz

Motherboard: Asus LRTP - THE (3 goldfish - GL8E) front bus at 800 mhz

Will support maximum 4 GB of ram

Unit is equipped with 4-240 pin Dimm, unbuffered, non - ECC 533/400 mhz sticks memory memory DDR2, dual channel architecture

This office has 2-258 or 516 MB PC2 3200 DDR SDRAM OEM.  I opened the unit to check for this.

OEM preloaded with Windows XP Media Center Edition.

Now, most anyone looking at this request, probably why I'm wanting this on such an obsolete machine...

I have bought new at the beginning of 2005, used the PC for a few months, remarried & it packed to move.  My husband had a Pavilion, so instead of having 2 running side x side, I copied my files in his unit, left (the most recent of the two) packed mine, thinking that we would need it down the road.  The road became long 7 years.  More to the story, but I'll spare you the pain. The only way I can use this material is upgraded to Windows 7 home & I need to increase the memory to install even.  It will be dedicated to the dissemination of music on the internet in the shop, period.

Here are the complete specs for your HP Pavilion a1120n desktop and it is card mother PTGD - THE (Goldfish3). Please consider the purchase of 2 of the CORSAIR 2 GB Kit (2 x 1 GB) 240 pin DDR2 533 (PC2-4200) VS2GBKIT533D2 or 2 of the Crucial 2 GB kit (2 x 1 GB) DDR2-667 PC-5300 #CT475923 to bring your computer to the 4 GB maximum, it supports.

Indeed, I am of the India.

First of all, I would recommend what I felt the better for OUR laptops. Mine is a DV6 6121tx with the config following-Core i7 2630QM at 2.00 GHz with TB up to 2.90 GHz

    12 GB DDR3 RAM

256 GB SSD + 640 GB HDD (will tell you more info on my dual setup of HARD drive later.

    HD6770M 2 GB with DDR5 Mem

So everything I post here, you can directly go and fix it.

For my double HARD - SSD drive setup, here go it.

4.SSD - GB to 256 GB Samsung 840 EVO (best value) or 840 Pro (expensive, but with the best possible performance). Buy SSD that from PrimeABGB - the best online store for SSDS.

Just a few errors that I don't want to make you-

1 put the SSD in Caddy and cable of optical drive on a HARD disk. Reason: your SSD will be connected to the Sata 6.0GBps port. You may think that you can directly put a SSD instead of HARD drive and put the HARD drive in the caddy, but HARD DRIVE could vibrate in caddy culminating in his death.

2 carefully remove the ODD mounting plate and put it on the caddy. You get an extra façade with caddy. With cable, you can still use your DVD burner drive as external.

For your RAM, anyone with a 1333 MHz will be. CASE latency for most of the brands are the same. Do not go for a 1600 MHz, as it will be a waste of money.

I should also the total list of expenses involved in this upgrade-

    1 SSD EVO - Rs.11, 000

    2 SSD Caddy-Rs 750

    3.cable - Rs.650

    4.4 GB OF RAM-~ 2600

    Total - Rs.15000.

Believe me, you will fall in love with your laptop again.

Just a word of warning-reading on google how to make the best of the SSD. Its much different from your HARD drive and a lot of need to follow different practices. Also, I recommend for a 128 GB, as I personally have 185 GB free on SSD after winning 8 + all apps + 3 heavy games installed. So you can save any amount it.

    Good shopping

  • Pavilion dv6401ca: processor upgrade

My pavilion dv6401ca original installed celeron M520 1.6 GHz cpu.  I can it pass to T7600 core2duo T8300? I found the M520 is PPGA478 in the web site from outside, so do cpu T7600 and T8300 can also be installed in it?  If Yes, what should I do after the replaced cpu?

Another question is: is he would lower the effectiveness of the T8300 if I change the RAM to DDR2 PC2-5300 667 M Hz? The T8300 FSB is rated at 800 MHZ.

As you mentioned, the PC has 10 years and feedback technology was then more slowly compared to today's technology.

The DV series at the time was art of units of technology for this period, and was a fast PC.

When a motherboard or the PC is designed, all components such as curcuit page, fan, RAm, PCI cards, comonent holding components, display and thousands of other factors are taken into account. All of them are designed and ideal conditions value. For example, if you use a different processor to other components in the PC now has to help, even if the socket accepts the processor. Yes, the computer can work but not in his ideal State. The three best ways to attach the computer must have the max RAM capacity for computer, leave a free space of HARD/SSD drive and keep the virtual memory of automatic pagination or max.

If I were you, I would goahead and but a new computer which I consider as depreciation of 20% per year on a device of temperament and if I consider that 10 years, then the computer has is pretty good for my calculation. Again, this is my point of view.

  • HP Pavilion 500-326na: upgrade of power supply for HP Pavilion 500-326na

Last year, I bought a HP Pavilion 500-326na. I now want to update its graphics and to do this, I need to power level. I want to upgrade to a CX500, but the specs say that his current power is "external". I don't know what this means, and indeed, I don't know if I will be able to upgrade. I see no reason why I shouldn't be, but everything I've seen only offers assistance on internal types.

    Thanks for any help.

    Hello

Look at the power supply cord.  If you have a device of black brick similar to those for portable computers, then you have an external power supply. PC with external cannot be upgraded with the installation of an internal power supply as a Corsair CX500 according to HP internal.

These are all the ports that you have:

    Ports ● 3-pole AC power ● audio input (mono microphone) ● Audio output (stereo headset) ● HDMI version 1.4 supporting up to 1080 p, 1920 x 1200 at 60 Hz and 1920 x 1200 @ 60 Hz ● RJ45 DVI mode (Ethernet, includes the link and activity lights) ● USB 2.0 (3 ports) ● VGA (d - Sub 15-pin)

Laptops used to have a thing called a pcmcia slot, then it was expresscard 34 or 54, then 3 or 4 years, no extension module don't port except USB. Also, they get rid of firewire.

To be 100% clear as apparently I don't get my point across: no, there is no way to add a usb 3.0 port on this laptop. There is no pci-e slot or elsewhere outside or inside the laptop to plug such a thing in.

Said a slogan on bottom DV6700, but also DV6818CA (isn't it a Canadian cell phone, with a bilingual keyboard).

I think I'll give up the bilingual keyboard, because it lacks the F10 key they resemble only 15 dollars off Ebay in any case.

BUT, when I did a scan on Crucial.com memory, they said it was a Pavilion dv6700t series

It has 4 GB of RAM in it, right now and is under Win7 Home Premium.

I think to get the fastest processor that the Mobo can handle and stick it in there. At present, it has a @1 T2370. 73 Ghz, and from what I understand, I can put in the processor the faster is a T7800 @ 2.6 Ghz (if I read correctly)

Oh, and PS, I had read that an update of the BIOS when running Win7 would brick of the PC, is it true?

I can easily get back to Vista and do an update of the BIOS in the first place, if necessary, the new processor, then reinstall Win7.

My BIOS version is F.52 24/03/2008

    Hello:

I must have missed reading your post.

It's because I don't watch that normally messages unanswered, and yours is as responded because you posted more than once until I woke up the next morning.

Your laptop may actually take the T9500 since you have an equal or superior to F.45 bios.

The release notes for F.45 State... Adds support for Intel Core 2 Duo Mobile Processors T8100, T8300, T9300, T9500.  Fixes the problem where the 1394 port may not work after the release of the standby mode.

Yes, you will definitely your laptop brick if you update the BIOS while running Windows 7.  You need to Flash the BIOS in Vista.

Memory... Yes, your PC will work happily 2 x 4 GB PC2 - 5300 or memory 6400. However, unlike the desktop version of the 965 chipset that manages the memory at 800 MHz, the mobile version runs only the memory at 667 MHz.

You can read that this related thread about memory in dv6500 + Intel models with the 965 chipset.

    http://h30434.www3.HP.com/T5/notebook-hardware-e-g-Windows-8/the-dv6700z-and-dv9700z-will-support-over-4GB-of-RAM/m-p/566163#M42472

The bad news is that if you have not already this memory (or you can get it at a steep discount), you will pay over $ 200 for 2 x 4 GB for memory that you need.

I would think more than twice before shelling out that kind of $$$ for the memory of a dated PC.

  • HP pavilion zv5320us memory upgrade

We have a computer hp pavilion zv5320us laptop was bought about 6 years ago. It is used for multi media projects and running a few very large programs.  How can I determine what size memory is currently in the machine and how can I update.  I did a search to find out what memory to buy for my computer, but my computer model was not included.  Any ideas?

Just go to configuration/system Panel and it displays the amount of memory that you currently have. Most of the zv5000s came with 512 megs. The zv5000 series uses memory ddr333 or pc2700 (2 ways to describe the same thing). There is a slot on the bottom of the laptop under a door to add memory and a slot under the keyboard. You can run up to 2 GB of memory.  You can add a 1 GB module 256 instead probably, you will find in the bottom slot and have 1.25 GB which is enough for what you want to do with Windows XP.

This memory will work for you:

    http://crucial.com/store/listparts.aspx?model=Pavilion%20zv5300US%20Series

Crucial says your max is 1.25 GB but they assume that you will not delete it the keyboard.

$39 for a module of 1 gig is a good deal.
