HP Z820: Have a few questions on my HP Z820

First of all excuse me if I do not properly explain some terms. I'll do the best I can say everything correctly.

So before we get to the technique I'll quickly explain that I have an older HP Z820 1 year I bought for my business to our server. Long story short I now want to just use it for personal use, but in the melee of the things the original copy of Windows 7 that came over her, disappeared and windows server 2008 R2 (64-bit) has been installed.  I'll list my questions and if I can get any help I would be very happy. My ultimate goal is to restore completely the way HP has built.

1. I want to remove windows Server 2008 R2 and reinstall Windows 7 PRO. I'm getting conflicting stories about what to do, mainly because I have the original disc more. Including the COMPUTER company I hired said I never gave it their or they returned.  It is a field control, but I ain't none of this care and would like to do as a new pc if possible. I explained that I first need to downgrade to sever2008 while others have said that I don't have to if I'll just install the new OS.  I was told that my score would have windows 7 but also told me that if my OS was changed, it was probably lost lol. I tried first to Microsoft, but they said to ask HP because it is OEM software I need. I look in my hard drive and it shows the recovery partition, but I don't know how to tell the difference between Windows 7 and server 2008. Its named WinRE.WIM. in any case, just need to know how to handle this.

2. during an update, I made lastnight from HP for my NVIDIA Quadro K5000 and my BIOS it some how changed my controller card, which has been set up as a SAS/SATA/AHCI. When I use to watch in the Device Manager, it he showed the right way, after the update, it shows is no longer like that. It still works very well but now my Mustang LSI 2308 shows just under storage as extra storage. This has also affected my Bios, it allows to start using bios HP Megatrends then go to utility LSI of the Bios. now just bypasses LSI. I've read a ton about it and no matter what I change settings in the Bios it go back to the original game. I did a restore for all updates and it has not corrected. has that first need to be corrected before Windows 7 is reinstalled?  He he also deleted my CD/DVD player in my devices. However, in the Bios, it shows that he and shows that this operation but the OS, there are 0 signs of him. I even tried a few things I read him at reloacate and he went.

3. I read I should update, install the drivers and the important things until I change my OS now I'm afraid of since he already touched something so important. I obviously want capabilities and newer drivers possible. The computer was expensive to only use not and if I tried to sell it I wouldn't get a quarter of what it cost me.  When I let the HP scan myPC website it locates it's easy, but I are confused because even in the same category, many of the elements he said I need are in conflict. I think its mainly due to the changes that were made during the OS and what makes a domain? I'm not sure. Ill put a photo as an example. Its like that in several categories. For the Bios, it says that I need them all. I don't think it's possible, but it's maybe. When you look in the Bios I clearly see Bios HP, LSI utility of Bios, bios Intel but open habit that a just flashes on the screen of the Bios Megatrends?  Also reading I think that could make me lose how my controller has been implemented was that the chart was updated due to the way the map manages memory.

4. don't know if this is a realistic option. But I also read that I can just do a dual boot, I love almost but I can't help but to the envy of all the features of Server 2008 some how slow me down. Computer scientist put in place both intesne that doing anything on the computer is a pain in the thigh. Same logon or go online. I understand that it was for security, but none of this matters more to me at all.

If you need more info please let me know.  I hope that I myself explained correctly. Yet once again, I appreciate all help. If all goes well, I posted this in the appropriate thread.

Thank you

Marc

Some technical specifications:

Existing windows server 2008 R2 Enterprise 64-bit sp1 OS and indicates Windows NT

32 GB of Ram and 64 GB of virtual space (btw some of my virtual space disappeared after updating the drivers)

Card mother = HP 158 b Bios version d63 v03.06 Graphics = NVIDIA Quadro K5000

Hard drives storage = 1 = 256 GB SDD and 2nd, 128 GB SDD (also on S.M.A.R.T it shows healthy)

Also no CD/DVD as the computer will not recognize it since update.

If your HP z820 is still under warranty (which I believe it should be) then you simply have to call or send an email to HP Support Services and ask a new pair of installation disks. They sent me free and they arrived at the delivery the next day.  After that save what you want to keep and re - install from scratch.

Because these disks contain all the correct drivers for re-installed Windows 7 they will work right out of the box without any messing around.

I've done everything recently and it is painless. A single disk is the Windows 7 for HP (including all the required drivers - Windows 7 ISO standard you can download does NOT work in these machines due to missing drivers) and the second disc contains all the missing additional drivers that can then be installed after installing the Windows 7 kernel.

All the stuff of field will disappear and you will get your Virgin machine back after a new full install / re - format.

Have you read this statement ? It explains how to set the registry value:

If the REG_SZ useDefaultTimer does not already exist, you must create it under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\National Instruments\CVI Run-Time Engine\cvirte. "" This can be done navigate to the appropriate folder, and then click Edit "New" string value. Then, click on means the name of the new value created, select Rename, and then specify useDefaultTimer as the name. Finally, double click on the name and specify the value True or False.

  • Hard drive failure: have a few questions!

    Some info about my computer:
    • Toshiba Satellite laptop P755
    • There was more than one year
    • Windows 7 Home Edition Premium came with the laptop.
    Hello
In the last few days I received an error saying that my hard drive can fail at any time, and for this reason, I have to back up my files. I run that a full backup as Windows Error Message had recommended that I do, but instead I just backed up my important files on a USB key. Finally, I know that my hard drive will fail, and at this point I am waiting. I am looking to buy a new HDD replacement , but I have a few questions that NEED to know before you proceed with the replacement of my current hard drive. Since I'm getting a new hard drive, should I buy a new key to activate Windows 7? Under my laptop, I have a Windows 7 Home Premium product key and my friend said that I will be able to borrow his Windows 7 Home Premium CD to install the operating system on my new hard drive. So do I still need to buy a new copy of Windows 7? I looked around forums and some people responded by saying that I won't need to buy a new copy of Windows 7 and when I install Windows on the new drive, it will be recognized that I had a genuine Windows 7 operating system. I had also heard tell that if I turned off my key using CMD, then I could re - use my key to install Windows. That's really all that I have questions, and I hope that this gets answered. Thank you.
I also ran a scan through my hard drive and here are the results.

    Hello

When the new drive arrives and it is installed, you shouldn't have any problems activating you replace just the hard drive and not the motherboard. The motherboard is what is important in the main OEM installations. If you have a COA sticker at the bottom of the laptop, or elsewhere, it will be what you use to activate Windows.

If you have however poorly (you shouldn't), don't panic, just follow the phone activation method and you will be straightened out:

    1. start > Search > in the search box, type slui.exe 4

    2. press the key "enter".

    3. Select your country in the list

    4. choose the phone Activation

    5. stay on the phone and wait for an operator to help you, do not press the buttons, etc. Once you get an operator, explain your activation trouble and you should be set.

    Kind regards

  • T61 with XP, you have a few questions...

I have a T61 that has been issued for me at work.  I had a few months and more is everything a decent computer. Once received Corp. they wiped clean and installed XP and all the software here. I have a few questions.

The fingerprint reader does not work, it shows to be installed but do not know how to operate.

Blue tooth does not work, the icon at the bottom of the screen turns on but it will not recognize anything I try and sinc with her.

I think to buy a 2nd HD, I can swap in the laptop while I am out of town so I can do it where I want, and then exchange the work one when I need to work.  I travel every week at least 3 days so it would keep me from having to buy and carry a 2nd laptop.  Does anyone know what size should I buy?

Wise hard drive SATA 2.5 inch and about 320 gig should be good. These things need software Lenovo you can get Lenovo.com

  • Make a disc to reinstal on the safeguarding of the Factory for the first time. Have a few questions.

Hi, as the title says I do a disc factory reinstal of backup for the first time. I have a few questions.

First of all, I need the disc because my current hard drive is a failure. (Not a SMART short self-test and.) And I wanted to know if the Dactory backup drive could be used on a new hard drive? That is mainly why I want to make the record.

Second, by original Image, this means that when I understand? As in, it'll be usable and such.

Thirdly, the bottom of AlienRespawn for factory return reinstal, it is said (as shown in this screenshot http://prntscr.com/432u15): Note: CD, Blue-ray, DL, XL. And all types of rewritable media are not supported.

What does it mean, exactly? What is this means that a DVD like this will work?

    http://www.Amazon.com/Memorex-8-5GB-double-layer-spindle/DP/B000UWYM5C/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&QID=1405464605&SR=8-1&keywords=8gb+DVD+blank+discs

    Or not?

    Thanks in advance for reading.

    Hello!

    1. Yes, you can use it on a different HARD disk.
    2. Yes, the image of the factory should have the OS, drivers and software pre-installed.
    3. No matter what recordable DVD or Blu - ray works, a regular CD or a DVD - RW will not.

    For instructions, see this article.

    I hope this helps!

  • Plan to change VMWare ESXi, but have a few questions

Use VMWare server, but I'm cosnsidering passage to VMWare ESXi. I have a few simple newbie questions and apologize in advance if they are stupid. I tried myself, but have no spare hardware to do and I would like to clarify this before buying a new compatible server ESXi.

    1. read the communities that I discovered that ESXi does not support the USB storage device. It takes in charge USB devices or it does not support USB? USB ports will work in guest OS?

    2. I also read that it is possible to install and start ESXi on a USB? How is this possible if the USB storage devices are not supported? OK, the BIOS is set to boot from the flash drive, ESXi loads with a RAMDISK, but then does not recognize the device it was loading during the boot process?

3 is supported media such as sound, 3D graphics cards?

4 serial ports taken care of?

    5. does a GUI in which it is possible to connect, view and switch guest OS bewtween locally, corner the ESXi server machine, as in VMware server on Linux (with Fire Fox for GUI), or it does not have a GUI at all and is possible to connect to if you use another computer or a terminal to access of the guest OS on ethernet?

    6. I also read that esata disks work properly either, but techincally they SATA drives that are connected outside the chassis, and ESXi notice perhaps, that they aren't on the inside. All devices support SATA, hot by desing so how do drive hard hot and hot-switching connection work in ESXi?

    Thank you.

1 ESXi does not support the device of USB storage for local data warehouses.  I don't remember the extent to which the guest OSes on ESXi.  I read that USB is only supported network based USB hubs.

    2. you can install ESXi on a USB key and start it.  It does not appear as a store of data however.

    3. I don't see the option for the installation of sound cards and I do not know the support of 3D video cards.

    4. Yes, the serial ports are supported.

    5. do you are unable to view the comments from the host OS console.  If you need to do this you player, Workstation or Server.

6 ESXi does not support SATA in local storage.  It is possible however to use SATA RAID cards that emulate SCSI (Adaptec 210 X for example).

ESXi is essentially ESX without the full service console.  Both share the same features and functionality as eachother.  ESXi is smaller, hardened operating system that is not running under Red Hat.

  • I have a few questions about the internet and partition recovery

I deleted completely OS X Yosemite and only left Windows. Now that I'm pretty sick of Windows and want to use my Macbook Air for real, I am using recovery of the internet (order and R) to reinstall OS X.

I backed up all my data and that you haven't stored anything in my Macbook. My questions are: (I know they are long, but they are quick to respond)

    1. I want to erase everthing on my Mac. I have now 3 partitions. After starting and pressing command + R, I would use disk utility to erase everything, like this .

After you click Delete, would be merged my 3 partitions in 1 and I could repartition my Mac?

    2. I want to create a partition for OS X Yosemite (and possibly upgrade to El Capitan). What is the minimum recommended size for partition OS X Yosemite? (Because my SSD is only 128 GB)

    3. Let's say I create 3 partitions, let's name A for OS X, B for my data and C for reinstalling Windows. If I boot into Windows, I'd be able to use (read and modify) data on B, or just OS X could do that?

4 the amount of data I should download during the recuperation of the Internet? I guess that much since I'm downloading the OS X package, but my internet is quite slow, so I want to know how of SGB I have to download.

5 If I asks me to enter the Apple ID to download OS X, would any book Apple ID?

Thanks for reading. I would be extremely grateful if you answer my questions. See you soon

    • 0: have backups of everything that you care and disconnect external drives except those you use specifically.  While he isn't supposed to, repartitioning should always be supposed to cause a total loss of data.  Corruptions can and do happen sometimes, unfortunately.  Stray user commands can sometimes target bad drives for erasure or repartitioning, because errors can happen.  Do not connect anything unnecessarily.
    • 1: Yes.  You want to create a volume of GPT partitions.
    • 2: let Yosemite size and add his own scores.
    • 3: using Boot Camp to add the Windows partition.  With a small that disk, I might well Park out Windows on an external storage device, or use a virtual machine, and Windows as a guest.   In general, add additional user-defined partitions are not general, something I recommend.  Resizing and adding and removing partitions can meet with corruptions, provide for backups.
    • 4: depends on various factors, including least aren't servers from Apple how busy are, and how fast your network link is.  I have used to create a local installer and use it.   That fact also resumed and other operations more quickly, at the price of a few $ for a drive of sufficient size.  Recent versions of OS X are ~ 6 gigabytes in size, based on installers the.
    • 5: any Apple ID will work, but having more than one active Apple for OS and app ID buy usually leads to disputes to find out who bought what and who can update what.

  • Satellite L300D-11V - after the installation of new, I have a few questions

I had an accident important a few weeks ago, that came out the main partition on my hard drive (even if the other partition appears to be very well) and I installed Windows XP Pro on a new hard drive to install Windows 7 in the near future.

I found some drivers which I burned on disc, and install them on my new drive hard but now I have problems with her laptop in some areas:

-I can't the USB ports to work at all even though I thought I installed the proper drivers.
-I can't access Internet via WiFi even if the Ethernet connection works fine and I thought I had installed the correct drivers.
-The Touchpad works very slowly and in some cases, it takes an age to click on something like an 'X' button to close the software or anything else...

Can someone tell me how I can solve these problems as well as to get my laptop fully operational with Windows XP Pro.

Your Satellite L300D PSLC0E models is. I checked the Toshiba download page and your laptop is not supported for Windows XP Home edition operating system.
Toshiba doesn't offer any driver tested for your laptop model.

You have installed not supported OS and now you want to have all the hardware components work perfectly. How? Someone needs to find the drivers for you or what?

It will be best for you to use Vista supported, you got as a recovery image. To install Win7 is good idea and I can imagine your cell phone will be supported and all necessary drivers will be available in the future.

I'll do the same thing with my A300.

    Hi dude

I m not an expert, but I'll try to answer your questions. some

    > 1) I lost the restore windows vista disc so I put t know where I put it... So can I get a new one?
You can buy the ASP or from this site:
    https://backupmedia.Toshiba.EU/landing.aspx

(> 2) my laptop charger was broken AGAIN (so I wonder if Toshiba still have my guarantee service of Toshiba so I don't have to worry if my sister asked them)
You can get the new adapter of the ASP in your country. If the warranty is valid then you will get it for free. If the guarantee is not valid, then you will have to pay for this part

(> 3) I wonder what is Toshiba tempro since I n t update any version of Toshiba s
Toshiba Tempro or Tempo (she even) is a new tool that sends a notification if a new driver update is available on the page of Toshiba Europe. To be honest I put don't need to tool, and I don t my system update if it is not necessary to s!

(> 4) I have a camera which is build-in, however, I try to understand the difficulty, but I put t know what is the name of the Web site that is the camera...
The internal webcam is designed by Chicony but the necessary software and the driver can be downloaded from the European driver Toshiba page.

  • Upgrade from Vista Home Premium to Windows 7 Professional and I have a few questions?

I'm about to upgrade to Windows Vista 32-bit to Windows 7 64 bit, but I'm very nervous (stupid - I know).  Currently I have Vista on a SATA internal hard drive, but is planning to install Windows 7 on my much bigger and 2nd inside SATA hard drive, which currently has no importance to this subject?

    1. Is it possible to install Windows 7 on an internal hard drive with Vista on another?  I have no intention to use Vista more so once Windows 7 installed will not need to keep if it is possible to do.
    2. Assuming that I can install Windows 7 on disk more while Vista is a smaller, I cause operational problems by removing Vista once Windows 7 has been wing not unhooked?
    3. Assuming the above is possible I will be able to "faithfully" copy/move/import (not sure of the method - help please) users existing file structure and data from the old files of user profiles of Vista on the smaller disk to the new files in user profiles Windows 7 on disk more nothing lose or create compatibility problems?
    4. If not, should I just stick with the installation of Windows 7 over Vista and use the larger 2nd disk to store users.  I chose this option will data being stored on the disc more to maintain its security between users.  That is, if Winodws 7 is intalled on the smaller C drive and I connect like me, can I keep my data of user on the 2nd drive internal more all ensuring that other users cannot access the data just by accessing the 2nd disc via "my computer"? I hope that makes sense!
    5. It is even possible to store data of the user safely on another drive to the operating system, but still maintain user security principals / separate secure?
    6. It is possible to install Windows 7 on the 2nd largest drive I can (before deleting Vista) user folders simply drag - move in new files of the user, I create in Windows 7 or is it more complicated than that.  (I'll try to find the simplest method to keep user files structures and existing Vista and import/copy/move data in new user profiles in the new operating system).

Sorry for all the questions but the family counts on me to get it right.

Show stopper, is that you can do a upgrade in place of a 32 bit OS (Vista in your case) to a 64-bit (Windows 7 64 bit) OS, you must perform an installation "Custom"and clean. "

This means that you should backup your media files data external 9to) before starting and reinstall all of your applications after installing Windows 7 64 bit.

Question: Did you buy an "Upgrade" version or the "full version" of Windows 7?

Regarding the drive to use, either will work, but the procedure is different.
