  I've already owned an al-in-one HP Photosmart C5580. I could put something in on the flat and in the process document, select scan or "crop" one part you like. Somehow, I can't do this task on my new HP Photosmart 7720. If I can't do that, then the whole machine is useless for me. I often need to scan a selected a document part, save in My Documents and later in MS Word insert the "cropped" saved game in another document. How does this with the HP Photosmart 7720?   I think that you're wrong in the statement that HP does not provide a program for the cropping and rotation, etc. I finally found how do. First go to programs - HP 7520 Open - opens offering PRINT - SCAN - FAX... Select SCAN... open to many options of the element to analyze... Select Photo file... 7520 HP will then SCAN the item (custom) where you can CROP to be desired part... complete and SAVE... Open the SAVE item... Select and when the option to open with comes up, select Microsoft Office picture... manage all the options of CROP - ROTATION - etc. are there. Unfortunately, HP does not provide a very good quality, detailed, how-to instruction booklet. Thanks for your help. I check Picasa to see if it offers something beyond what I already have with Microsoft Vista - Microsoft Office - HP 7520. Thanks for your reply.

• CONVERTING SCAN TO ocr TEXT FILE

  I bought recently a new in the Deskjet One 4440.

  I used the disk supplied with the device implementation, and installed the COMPLETE INSTALLATION.

  I can't get the scanned document to save in a text file.  I even went online on the HP website and downloaded the new drivers and softwear nothing helps.

  I have read all the data in the event of problem and discovered that the program does not include the part of OCR program.

  OCR is what converts a document scanned into editable text.

  In the end, I spent an hour and a half (1 & 1/2 hours) on the phone with HP Tech Support.  The technology was very polite and patient, but could not fix the problem either.  Technology has even tried adding download drivers and additional software.

  All to nothing does not.

  It is the first HP printer scanner that I have ever owned, and so far I am very disappointed.

  I never had such problems with more Lexmark printers and a single units, except for the price for replacement ink cartridges.

  I still have a whole perfectly well and operational in a Lexmark, it's just more ink.

  If anyone has an idea of what's wrong with my new HP, I would be very grateful for any help.

  Meanwhile the next reminder of day Technical Support HP in India, I connected to this chat site and found that my new installation of the software does not include a program with OCR.

  I went to the HP website and downloaded "HP Photo Smart Full Program." (C309a)

  I installed it and it fixed my problem.

  I have read many entries on the blog of people who have had the same problem.

  I will suggest 2 things. First, go to hp.com site and select your device from the five listed here (http://www8.hp.com/us/en/support-drivers.html).

  Second suggestion is that you use the HP software to scan your document, where the native format is PDF.

  You use what Version of Acrobat? For Acrobat 11.0.4 If you have a PDF document is opened and as you scan a document it will automatically add to the existing PDF. For other versions, you must go to custom scan and select "Add to the existing file or portfolio" whenever you want to add.

  On my new HP Envy 4520 printer injet there doesn't seem to be an option to scan to a tiff file. The only option is the jpeg. Is it possible to scan to a tiff file?

  After some research, I found that Windows Fax and Scan software will work for scanning for tiff. There is also a new scanning on Windows 10 application that works. Given these options, I consider that the problem is resolved.

  Try this:
  Click Start , then run... and type cmd and press enter.
  Now, type enable RpcSs SYSTEM_AUTO_START and press enter.

  Restart your PC and see if you can run sfc.

  If not then try a chkdsk which is what helped me with the same question :)

  Looks like you have the default printer configured to be Microsoft XPS Document Writer.  Go to control panel > printers and devices and see which printer is enabled in a green circle.  If this is the XPS Document writer as I suspect, you can right click on your printer and then select "Set as default printer" after you do this, or if you cannot do this, answer with the brand and model of your printer and we are able to help if you have a driver problem.

  Unfortunately, I cannot even load the previously recommended THAT MSFT software to solve this error.  I also tried to install the software as 'Run as Administrator' and in 'Safe Mode '.  Even if I could not load the software recommended to MSFT, I was able to install iTunes to Apple through Apple Software Update, I guess, that they do not use Windows Installer.

  I think I found the solution for this point, because I have just encountered the same problem in our environment and here's what I did to solve it:

  -Create a higher level permissions at the root of the folder redirection (for example \\servername\mydocredirfolder): grant the Group authenticated users the following permissions and apply it to "this folder only" ALLOW: list folders/read data, reading, reading attributes, read extended attributes, create files / add data

  I think the MSI is trying to read the free space on the disk on the server, but it cannot because it tries to access the folder where your my documents redirection is sitting.
