  Use system restore to go back to an earlier date at the beginning of the problem.  To run system restore, click Start-> programs-> Accessories-> System Tools-> system restore.  Click on the box that says show more restore points.

  It may be easier to create your own file with favorite sites and put a copy of a bookmark in this folder to have more control on your favorite Web sites.

  Then right click on the word 'Libraries' and choose 'Restore default libraries'

  Unfortunately, there is no such thing on these devices. We always recommend to have at least two locations to backup your data, just in case. You will need data recovery or file.

  Hi - Thanks for the details, but yes, that it will be too long to recover 'previous versions' - usually it will work for about 28 days.

  The only other possibility would be a file recovery program - a free, widely used by the people on this forum is "recuva" - I have (fortunately) not needed it myself, so I can't recommend it specifically, but I would try to only use it if lost information cannot be retrieved from old sources of paper etc.

  First, look in the Recycle Bin. If they aren't there, read
