I am not able to receive emails on live mail day before yesterday. I get an error message and cannot receive my email.

I was not able to receive emails through my Live Mail account yesterday.  I had no problem in the past.  It has just stopped working yesterday.

I get this error message:

Can't send or receive messages on behalf of mail.comcast.net. Your server suddenly put an end to the connection. The possible causes for this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of inactivity.

Server: "mail.comcast.net.

Any help?

Outlook Express 6, Windows XP SP 3

Problem: send an email, I get an error message and the email is not put in the sent items folder while the email (and attachments, if any) are successfully delivered to the recipient.

The full error message is always useful, but I'm sure you have damaged dbx files.

Spend most of your messages out of the Inbox and then create new folders to send and sent items box after having moved the messages you want to save to a local folder that you create.

Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store folder will reveal the location of your Outlook Express files. Note the location and navigate on it in Explorer Windows or, copy and paste in start | Run.

In Windows XP, Win2K & Win2K3 the OE user files (DBX and WAB) are by default marked as hidden. To view these files in Windows Explorer, you must enable Show hidden files and folders under start | Control Panel | Folder Options icon | Opinion, or in Windows Explorer. Tools | Folder options | View.

With OE closed, find the DBX files for the items in the Outbox and sent and delete them.  New ones will be created automatically when you open OE.

After you're done, followed by compacting your folders manually while working * off * and do it often.

Click Outlook Express at the top of the the folder tree so no folders are open. Then: File | Work offline (or double-click on work online in the status bar). File | Folder | Compact all folders. Don't touch anything until the compacting is completed.

    General precautions for Outlook Express:

Do not archive mail in the receipt or sent items box. Create your own user-defined folders and move messages you want to put in them. Empty the deleted items folder daily. Although the dbx files have a theoretical capacity of 2 GB, I recommend all a 300 MB max for less risk of corruption.

Disable analysis in your e-mail anti-virus program. It is a redundant layer of protection that devours the CPUs, slows down sending and receiving and causes a multitude of problems such as time-outs, account setting changes and has even been responsible for the loss of messages. Your up-to-date A / V program will continue to protect you sufficiently. For more information, see:

Note that for some AV programs, it may be necessary to uninstall the program and reinstall in custom Mode and uncheck analysis when the option is the result of e-mail messages.

    Compact often as specified above.

    And backup often.

  • Emails sent to me are getting an error message, and the sender is not sure I got the email - how to fix this?

I used to get my messages without using a password - now, I have to enter the password twice when I open Thunderbird. I received an email from an organization that I subscribed and they informed me that they've taken their list because they kept receiving error messages when they sent me a message. I don't know if that's happening with others but she could be. Do I have a virus, or is there something wrong with the operating system on my computer for Thunderbird? Thanks for any help you can offer

It's your email providers server blocking what he probably considered a hacking attempt. Whatever your email provider is the one with which you communicate.

  • Since I updated to Firefox 8 on Mac OS x 10.4.11, Firefox does not open more (not same previous versions downloaded via Safari). I get the error message "You cannot use Firefox with this version of Mac OS x" (translated from Dutch).

I tried to create a new profile, the problem remains the same.

None of the 3 accounts on this desktop computer can use Firefox. This has never been a problem. Today (14.11.11) I've updated Firefox to 8 and nothing more. Via Safari, I downloaded Firefox 7 to reinstall, same error message.

From Firefox 4, Mac must have an Intel x 86 processor (which you do not have) and OSX 10.5 or higher (version OSX 10.4).

The good news is that Firefox 3.6.24 still support OSX 10.4 and Mac with the PPC Mac architecture. The bad news is that the support for Firefox 3.6.x series is likely to end in the first quarter of 2012.

    • It seems that if you re - enable new Site Advisor and restart Firefox you agree. At least you know where to look if you get the error again, or research on Google to slow down.

    Ideas:

    • You have problems with programs
    • Error messages
    • Recent changes to your computer
    • What you have already tried to solve the problem

    Hi Mefrombigd,

    1. it happens with all types of CD?

    2. did you of recent changes on the computer?

3 when was the last time it was working fine?

    4. you receive the error message when you insert the CD into the CD drive?

    Method 1

Check if you can access the contents of the CD using Windows Explorer application.

    (a) click the start menu, and then double-click computer.

    (b) make a right click on the CD drive, click Open.

    (c) check if you can access it.

    Method 2

It is possible that some third-party programs installed on the computer is causing the problem.

I suggest that you perform a clean boot and check.

To help resolve the error and other messages, you can start Windows Vista or Windows 7 by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

  • Why do I get messages saying that I have not destroyed tabs; I ususally click on the red dot. why I get this error message?

In the past I could navigate from one site to another without closing a tab. The messages now appear that say I have does not close a tab and need to close or to restore. I tried closing of tabs as I've used them but my tab bar shows no tabs open when I close Firefox. When I restart Firefox I get messages saying that I did not close the tabs! It's very annoying. How do I put it back for when I click the red dot, it is closed. and when I restarted Firefox it just goes to my home page? I use a Mac 10.6.8

No, there is no problem now with this parameter when the bug is fixed.
the problem is basically firefox 20 wrong classifies this way to close the browser as an accident & will launch the restore function of session at the next launch of the browser. the key to everything: config above completely shuts down service sessionrestore for accidents.

Once the bug should be fixed in firefox 21, I would recommend resetting browser.sessionstore.resume_from_crash back to its default value "true" If, so that you get the benefit of a restored session, where firefox crashes really some time.

    Hello

Permissions and security issues with Vista/Win7?

    Check the following settings.

All the users who are allowed to share need to have an account on all computers that they are allowed to connect to.

Everyone is an account, that means a group of all users who already have an account now as users.

Using the functionality of all saved the need to configure authorization for each of the established users, it does mean not all those who feel that they would like to connect.

Users who do not have an account on the computer are not part of the Everyone group.

If the LAN security is useless and users are not established, then move on the guest account provides the semi-open configuration.

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/turn-the-guest-account-on-or-off

    ---------------------

Point to a folder that wants to share do right click and choose Properties.

    In the properties

Click on the Security tab shown in the bellows of the photo on the right) and verify that users and their permissions (see photo below Centre and left) are configured correctly. Then do the same for the authorization tab.

This screen shot is to Win 7, Vista menus are similar.

    http://www.ezlan.NET/Win7/permission-security.jpg

The Security Panel and the authorization Panel, you need to highlight each user/group and consider that the authorization controls are verified correctly.

When everything is OK, restart the network (router and computer).

    * Note . The groups and users listed in the screen-shoot are just an example. Your list will focus on how your system is configured.

  • I just installed Firefox for the first time (v9.0.1) & could not save all of the bookmarks. I don't get an error message and it looks like my saved bookmark but when I watch my favorites, there is nothing there.

I have also problems to import my IE Favorites. I went through the steps to import data from another browser, and it seems that it worked, but when I go to my favorites, it's always empty.

In Firefox help (Alt + H) > troubleshooting information > Open containing folder. Open it this profile Firefox folder. Once the file is open, exit Firefox and rename the places.sqlite file in the folder and launch Firefox. Before importing anything, please try to score some sites and check.
