Windows Security Center gives me a "alert" that my anti-virus is disabled. I have Win XP Professtional and'm running Windows defender and Microsoft Security Essentials times which I recently uninstalled, restarted the computer and reinstalled more updated. I read related security problems, but I have not found a match. I have a screenshot of the Win Security Center Alert, but unable to attach. It is said: ' Windows found multiple antivirus programs on this computer, but they all report that they could be updated or disabled. " Click on the recommendations for suggested actions... When I shoot to the top of MSE it says, "protection is enabled, and updated definitions.
Windows Defender said: "Nothing detected" and "computer running normally."
Before the uninstall and update, I ran System Mechanic from Iolo, who has done wonders for speed.

When it comes to antivirus software, you want one and only one installed and running on your computer. Two or more may come into conflict with eachother and degrade performance. I advise you to uninstall Windows defender and use soley mse.
also I strongly suggest that you avoid using "PC optimization" tools. They can help a little, but they often do more harm than good.

Should I deactivate Windows Defender running Microsoft Security Essentials?
I installed Microsoft Security Essentials on vista and I wanted to know if I should keep Windows Defender on or turn it off?
Windows Defender must stop automatically when you install MSE, but if not then I would recommend do you: MSE already has Defender engine everything in it, and it's not great to run both at the same time.

I use Microsoft Security Essentials on Vista x 32. Security Center tells me to start Windows Defender. I click to start, but he tells me that I have to restart my computer or manually start Defender myself. I go to services, and it does not advocate. It basically tells me that my system has no need currently the program or there is another reason, it does not start. Responses tells me that for the error code of course, I met error 0x800106ba later Code it tells me to try to start it manually if it doesn't work I have uninstall Defender and need to reinstall it. Yet when I go to uninstall programs, Defender is not listed. I tried to install it again because it is not listed, I thought I could. When I went to install it, it-error telling me that I have already as it came pre-installed with Vista.
Now, my question. Do I really need Defender since I use Microsoft Security Essentials? Is in fact an older version almost essential? Why it tells me to start it if it is not needed? And if necessary, why it won't start

Windows Defender features are included in MSE, defender of loading would be redundant.
Windows Defender antispyware =
MSE is antivirus + antispyware.
Then think about MSE as Windows Defender with more added (which is).
Check this box:
Startup tab - disable Windows Defender (if the list) and APPLY / OK - REBOOT
This should stop loading Defender.

cannot run or uninstall Microsoft security essentials or install new version
Original title: what is error code ox80073601
Hi DavidValentine,
Check that you have removed all other anti-malware real-time products that were already installed on your PC, including free products / trial that were installed when the PC was purchased (Norton, McAfee, TM, AVG, OneCare, Malware bytes (paid), etc.).
Note: If you use more than one antivirus or antispyware program at the same time, your PC may know a decrease in performance, become unstable, or restart unexpectedly. Before you install Microsoft Security Essentials, or if you want to solve problems with Microsoft Security Essentials, including the update of issues, you must first completely remove your PC Internet security programs.
You may have to uninstall/reinstall MSE. You should be able to remove MSE of the Control Panel. Uninstall problems see:http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/protect/forum/protect_start/uninstalling-mse/a63b8c4b-58ed-437e-8086-fa08d80725a4
Note: This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. For more information about how to back up and restore the registry, click on the number below to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base. How to back up and restore the registry in Windows:
http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/back-up-the-registryRecommend that you restart the computer to ensure that the uninstall is complete. You can download a new Installation of MSE file fromhttp://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows/security-essentials-download

I have 18 installed Firefox. This is the third time that Firefox has stopped opening.
I ran Malwarebytes and Microsoft Security Essentials all three times and each time found any problems. The only thing that worked was (using Revo Uninstaller) uninstalling and reinstalling.
It has worked well for three weeks and stopped opening again last night.
Oh, and attempt to use the mozilla help screens in Internet Explorer is a nightmare...
And I tried to use the troubleshooter below, IE won't let either.
One possible cause is security software (firewall, antivirus) that prevents or limits Firefox or plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after the detection of changes (update) for the Firefox program.
Delete all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container in the permissions list in the firewall and leave your firewall again ask permission to get full unlimited access to the internet for Firefox and the plugin-container and the update process.
See:
Try to start the computer in safe mode Windows with network support (on the startup screen, press F8) as a test to see if that helps.

Microsoft Security Essentials runs on Windows XP after April 2014?
Dear MS,
As Microsoft Security Essentials has proved to be a program of exceptional anti-virus/Malware protection for all current versions of Windows, MSE still support with updates for Windows XP after April 2014? Or Windows XP users will have to find a competitive package of anti-virus?
Kind regards
Jack
MSE will always protect you. This is XP which will not receive any further updates.

Windows Update and Microsoft Security Essentials error 80072EFE code
I am running windows vista sp2, recently I have problems with windows update, for some unknown reason, which I can't find an answer too, now I am unable to run updates. I tried to install Security Essentials to try to solve any pc problems but cannot do not run as it will not be updated.
If bound to all, my problems started with my lack of support during the connection user profile, and then receive several error messages (with no information) on the host files.
Can anyone help?
When (date about) don't you install Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE) and has been the computer fully-patched to Windows Update in time?
What antivirus application was installed before you installed MSE, was your subscription always news, and did you uninstall it before installing MSE?
A (another) Norton or McAfee application ever been installed on the computer (for example, a free trial version which is preinstalled when you bought it)?
