  Windows Vista product key should be at the bottom of your laptop or the battery box (you may need to remove the battery).  What about other applications that may have installed, they should be inside the box of the product with the installation media.

  Yes, you must purchase a full license for the second installation of Windows 7 product key.  1 activation allows only one Windows 7 product key.  Apparently, you now have a second facility that requires a second product key. Carey Frisch

  This topic has been beaten to death, but I have a bit of a twist on the issue / problem.

  I volunteer for a small school non-profit private who uses the systems for a year and then a need to recreate the image. Under XP, it wasn't a problem because the product keys were not as scrutinized as they are today. Last year they were finally bought "most recent" authorized for Windows 7 systems. I created a standard image, sysprep had the image and that deployed to 20 systems. I wasn't expecting to have to type the product key on each system, but it is here nor there at this point (and something else).

  As we begin a new year, I need to recreate the image these systems in order to restore them to a standard image until they are distributed to new students. However, I expect the same scenario with the deployment of the updated image and be prompted for the activation key. My question is twofold. (A) Comment can I reactivate these systems Windows 7 without contacting the MS Support on each of them and explain it is a new picture of the host. (B) is there a way I can put the activation key for each computer in a file and use the file to activate instead of typing the code?

  As long as you reimage using an OEM installation, you will need to reactivate every time over the telephone. This isn't the purpose of the OEM license. I feel when you say that you did in Windows XP, you use probably a level of Volume in Windows XP Professional license as an OEM Windows XP would trigger to also be triggered whenever you reimage it unless they are standard systems run the same edition.

  In your case, the only way around this is using the Windows 7 Volume license upgrade that you would have to purchase licenses for. Otherwise, I let the systems as is and use the partition recovery or media provided with systems to reinstall Windows every year.

  Sorry, it is not possible. Only a Windows 7 Starter Edition key can activate Starter. A door-key Pro only lights Pro.
