I bought a Windows 8.1 today and wish I hadn't! It's a pain to use (I had a Windows 7 previously). None of my games of Cossacks work on windows 8.1 either and I've tried them in compatibility mode. Is it possible to install Windows 7 on my new computer and replace the disastrous 8.1 version?

I would like to point out something that you may not realize: Windows 8
has two interfaces; the modern/Metro Interface (which may be all the)
you have looked at) and the traditional desktop Interface. You can use
one or both. This traditional desktop Interface is almost
identical to the interface of Windows 7. the biggest difference is that
There is no Orb start clicking to bring up the start menu.

But note that you can get the ORB start by using one of the many
third-party programs, are free or very cheap (the classic interface
    http://classicshell.sourceforge.NET/ and debut8 to
    http://www.stardock.com/products/start8/; my personal preference is
Debut8, but they are both very good).  And goes from an interface to
the other is very easy; There are several ways, but simply by pressing
the Windows key is perhaps the easiest.

Just install one of these two and using the traditional desktop computer
interface may be a better choice for you than going to Windows 7.
I use Windows 8, almost exclusively with traditional workstations
the interface and with 8 Start installed. If you were to look at and use
my computer, you may have a hard time realizing that it is not
    Windows 7.
I also recommend to read "how to make Windows 8 or 8.1 watch and.
    Want Windows 7 "to http://www.howtogeek.com/elk/298/45121/4206
I can't address the issue with your games, except to say that
whenever you move to a new version of the operating system, some of
which is used to run on the former does not work on the new. And it's
much more likely with utilities and games with companies
    applications.

Please download and save to your desktop.

Right click on the saved file and select extract all...

Save it in the default location

This should create a file sluicom64.reg

Right-click on the file and select Merge

Accept the warnings, you should then get a 'Success' message

I continued to by pressing DELETE and confirming, but the stupid icon was still there! Someone please help me or at least just tell me it's bugged and he is going to be there forever? Help, please!

Try a simple Reset: press and hold the Power and Home buttons until you see the Apple logo.

  • Flash drive, write protected after the use of Ready Boost

I have a 8 GB USB flash drive, and I've been using ~ 4 GB for Ready Boost for quite a while now. When I tried to write something on the drive recently, I get a message saying that it is write protected. I tried to change the size of the cache, but has nothing - no error and no change. Tried turning off RB for the drive and nothing. There is no protection switch on the drive, so nothing to break. Tried to restart, refomratting the drive - no joy.

Only, I could get a new drive because they are so cheap, but this one has a MicroSD in it like a separate disk drive, so I would keep

    Hello

You can remove your usb flash drive write protection using the method below:
    a. open the start menu, in the search bar type regedit, and then press ENTER. This wil open the registry editor.
    b. navigate to the following location:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\StorageDevicePolicies
    Note:
If StorageDevicePolicies registry key does not exist, you must create it manually.
    c. highlight StorageDevicePolicies, and then create a new DWORD called WriteProtect (32-bit).
    d. double-click the registration key in the right window, and then set it to a value of 0 in the value data box
    e. press OK
Important This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. My D drive is full. Ready Boost NVCACHE is the only file on it. Clean disk does not help, and the system will not let me delete the file. How can I solve this problem

    Hello

1 how long have you been faced with this problem?
    2. what exactly happens when you try to delete it?

This is perhaps due to ReadyBoost enabled on drive D.

Try to turn it off and check what is happening.

  • Ready Boost

Recently I plugged a USB 1 GB in a 32 bit Vista Premium system of House who has a memory of 1 GB installed.  Ready boost offered to use 870 MB of this stick, and when I tried to increse said it might slow down the system.  My question, which is a function of the size of stick or something else.  If I used a 2 GB or more big stick he uses more of it or still do not want to use the 870 MB?  Thank you
