  What is the attachment file extension? If you know what program should open with, just do the following.
   
  1. download and save the attachment to the office.
  2. right click on the saved file.
  3. Select: Open with on the shortcut menu.
  4. click on: choose [default] program.
  5. Select: The appropriate program.
  6. check: always use the selected program to open this type of file.
  7. click on OK.
   
  This should allow you to open these attachments directly from email address now.

  I'm running an iMac mid-2007, with El Capitan updated 10.11.2 and Mail I think 9.2. 2.4 GHz and 4 GB of memory.

  This AM. After the update to EC 10.11.2 I tried to load Mail.  The program seems open (i.e. the bar at the top - file, window etc.) but no viewer will appear.  No e-mail does appear, now or otherwise.  Have tried everything I know.  Restart the iMac.  Close and open Mail.  Nothing.

  Please stop Mail. Force quit if necessary.

  Back up all data before proceeding.

  If you use OS X 10.11 ("El Capitan") or version later, triple - click anywhere in the line below on this page to select:

  Copy the selected text in the Clipboard by pressing Control-C key combination. In the Finder, select

  in the menu bar. Paste in the box that opens by pressing Command + V, then press return.

  I setup a gmail account to and works very well. When I try to add another gmail account, I get an error 'User name' or invalid password. I can connect to this second gmail via the web to gmail account and the account active imap.

  PS - I use these accounts for the years through the web

  I also tried to delete completely the TB and reinstalled to try the problem gmail account and it still doesn't work.

  When checking on the 2-factor authentication, which I use, I noticed something. The work gmail account has allowed access to less secure applications"and my problem of account does not. I activated that and managed to add it to the TB. Everything works now!

  Not sure if less secure applications is a good thing, but its working.

  The only one you can do now is to clear your whole cat or attempted to correct the incorrect timestamp using 3rd party applications.
