SMARTnet to asa5505

I recently bought an unlimited user ASA5505 for domestic use and it will come with the latest firmware/software?  (I bought it froma amazon).

Also I am looking for the purchase of smartnet for this device, I need support replacement of the device (response time no matter), which is the best option that I need to buy (I have seen that I can buy smartnet in CDW)

Thanks for any help.

If you got it from a legitimate dealer on Amazon, it will be eligible for a Smartnet service contract. CON-SNT-AS5ULBK9 would the line of correct billing.

If it was the grey market / personal resale, you may not be able to get the support of Smartnet. CDW (or anyone) should be validate your device with Cisco by serial number.

Okay, I was not quite correct in my first post.

These modules - modules only available for corresponding models of ASA.

They all can act as IPS (inline mode) or IDS ("Promiscuous" mode), depending on how you configure your policies.

When acting as IPS, ASA redirects all traffic through the module, then all the traffic is inspected and can be dropped inline if a signature is triggered.

When she acts as an ID, ASA a few exemplary traffic is the module for inspection, but the actual traffic is not affected by the module, as it's not inline in this case.

In addition, these modules can be both comdination. That is part of the traffic can be inspected "inline", when some other (more sensitive) traffic can be inspected in promiscuous mode.

  • Selection of ASA 5505 license and Smartnet

    Hello

We bought an ASA 5505 (ASA5505-BUN-K9) and more recently bought the license to upgrade from 10 to 50 users (L-ASA5505-10-50).

I want to provide remote access to users via AnyConnect - specifically, AnyConnnect under Windows as well as iPhone/iPad and Android.  My understanding is that I should buy the Anyconnect Essentials (L-ASA-AC-E-5505) and permits Anyconnect Mobile (L-ASA-AC-M-5505).  Is this correct?  If I do this, simultaneous remote access VPN connections (via the Anyconnect customers) how the ASA will then support?

In addition, we did not purchase initially Smartnet with this device, but I want to do to access the software updates.  Y at - it a document or a site where I can locate the SKU # s Smartnet contracts that would be appropriate with our device?  Or could someone provide a few example SKU #?

Daniel - the best way to determine if a device is still eligible to fix a support contract is to check for announcements of end of sale on cisco.com.  I have this look for the 3825; and it seems that the deadline of attachment of service was in October 2012. If you already have a contract, which would be honored and may be renewed through January 30, 2016.  Here is the link at the end of the newsletter of the life.

  • Configure ASA5505 as 802.1 X Client / Wired "eduroam"

    Good evening

I work at a local University who supports wired "eduroam". Wired eduroam use 802. 1 X EAP-PEAP and MSCHAPv2 as the second Phase.

I wanted to ask you is it possible / and how to configure an ASA5505 like wired Client 802. 1 X on the external Interface.

I got static IP, DHCP, and PAP, but I would need to use EAP-PEAP with MSCHAPv2 as described above.

    Thank you very much

The build-in switch of the ASA 5505 is quite limited. It is not possible on the 5505 to configure a switch as a port. 1 x supplicant.

  • SMARTnet include the update of GIS?

    Hi all!

I buy CISCO 3845 with Intrusion Detection System Module and SMARTnet Network.

Can I take the signature updates or I have to get an additional contract for updates?

    Hello

You will need to buy a contract of "services for IPS" to allow you to get updates of the signature.

The following link has the details:

    http://www.Cisco.com/application/PDF/en/us/guest/products/ps6076/c1592/cdccont_0900aecd8022e962.PDF

Once you have purchased the contract that you should save the serial number of the module and then you will be able to get updates.

You can always get a trial license 30 days pending...

    Hello

I doubt that it has nothing to do with subsequent changes, as the device is specced for only 150Mbps throughput.

I saw Cisco release any model replacement, even if I asked a few times.

I think that 2 GigabitEthernet interfaces refer to the internal-Data0 and Data1 internal interfaces

It is the output of my own ASA

The internal-Data0/0 interface ' ' is in place, line protocol is up

The material is y88acs06, BW 1000 Mbit/s, 10 DLY usec

    (Full-duplex), (1000 Mbps)

Internal-Data0/1 interface ' ' is in place, line protocol is up

The material is 88E6095, BW 1000 Mbit/s, 10 DLY usec

    (Full-duplex), (1000 Mbps)

  • ASA5505 c/o with the resumption of the ISP

    Hello world

I was wandering if possible the tent on the figure below.

    The situation is:

At the moment there is an ASA5505 that performs switching between the two suppliers using Internet services and monitoring SLA.

I need to add an another ASA5505 to implement failover c/o for the material, but I don't know if the ISP failover will work witht the deployment a/s.

Could someone confirm if this scenario is valid?

    Best regards

    Jose

Yes, I don't see a reason why it wouldn't work. He will continue to work with SLA followed because there is only 1 IP active using the ASA, and the same IP follows the active firewall.

  • Get a Smartnet contract also gives you updated signature IDS/IPS?

One of my clients is looking into getting an ASA5510 with module AIP - SSM. I realize that with IDS/IPS systems, it is * essential * to keep files up-to-date signatures. Buying me the Smartnet contract for the bundle gives updates signature files, or is there another package that I need to buy?

I see references to the "Cisco Services for IPS", but this seems to be mainly for routers/IOS firewall/IDS packages.

There is not a Smartnet contract for the ASA/AIP-SSM bundle.

The only contract SmartNET SSM packages with the CSC - SSM and not the AIP - SSM.

When buying a bundle ASA/AIP-SSM, you'll need to buy a package maintenance contract. Package maintenance contracts are Cisco Service for the IPS markets and include the support of signature for the AIP - SSM and the software and hardware in support of ASA and AIP - SSM (software and hardware support, is what it is normally part of SmartNET).

Packages you will need to purchase a maintenance contract Service Cisco IPS using one of the formats following part numbers:

    CON-SUw-ASxAyKz

The 'w' will be 1,2,3 or 4 depending on the level of service.

The 'x' will be either 1 for the 5510, 2 for the 5520 or 4 for the 5540.

    'Y' will be 10 for the AIP-SSM-10 or 20 for the AIP-SSM-20.

The z will be 8 or 9 depending on the level of encryption.

    Thus, for example:

    CON-SU2-AS2A20K9 - would be 8 X 5 X 4 support for the ASA 5520 bundled with the AIP-SSM-20 with the top encryption.

NOTE: There is also SP contracts for purchase by service providers who follow a slightly different format.

There are a few users who have purchased the ASA and the AIP - SSM separately.

When purcahsed separately you would need to purchase a contract SmartNET for the ASA and a separate Department of Cisco for IPS for the AIP - SSM maintenance contract.

Maintenane AIP - SSM contract will be in the following format:

    CON-SUw-ASIPyK9

The 'w' will be 1,2,3 or 4 depending on the level of service.

    'Y' will be 10 for the AIP-SSM-10 or 20 for the AIP-SSM-20.

    Thus, for example:

    CON-SU2-ASIP20K9 would be 8 X 5 X 4 support for the AIP-SSM-20.

What you find is that buying a separate SmartNET for the ASA and Service Cisco IPS for the AIP - SSM will be more expensive than buying a single Cisco IPS's Service to the ASA/AIP-SSM bundle. This is because there is a discount when buying by the beam.

  • How to change the ASA and ASDM on ASA5505 questioned once

Can anyone suggest the way to upgrade the software on the Cisco ASA5505 simultaneously both ASA and ASDM without trouble, like I just did?

Here is what happened.  I copied the files asa821 - k8.bin and asdm - 621.bin for flash memory, then renamed the old versions like Oasa724 - k8.bin and Oasdm - 524.bin and then issued the command reload from the GUI of Windows.

Big mistake, I lost connectivity ASDM entirely and has been obliged to buy a USB to serial port adapter and plug the cable from port of CLI command so she can return to the unit.  I found that he was running the kernel asa821 - k8.bin, as expected, but apparently the ASDM was still under the version 5.24.

Should I have created a new folder and moved the older versions of this file, then issued the command reload system and hope for the best?

I feel that I've defiled things upwards, I guess I have to use tftp to reload the boot image to get the ASA5505 back up again (using the ROMMON commands)

In fact, the only way that I was able to recover the GUI of Windows used start to asa724 image - k8.bin older command.

What is the right way to upgrade to new versions asa 8.2 (1) and asdm 6.2 (1)?

Really, I don't want to risk losing my ability to speak with this box and I spent an anxious afternoon yesterday, when I got to the pop-up message box "can not display the asdm manager."

    ======

After working with the CLI port, I noticed the following error:

Set of images of Manager devices, but unable to find disk0: / asdm - 524.bin
    Out of config line 75, "asdm image disk0: / asdm-5...» »

So apparently some configuration file must point to the correct asdm and just blindly change the files in the folder will NOT work.

    ========

After working more with the port of the CLI and the GUI of Windows port, I found that the 'asdm image' command did NOT work in the CLI software, but was apparently working in the GUI software, so I ran this command to tell the system to use the recent 6.21 on start.

After that and issuing the command reload of the CLI, I was able to set up successfully with the latest software of asa and asdm.

I would like to have access to CLI is valuable in this case.

I DON'T know why the command 'asdm image' appears inaccessible on the CLI port.

    Any ideas?

As far as I'm concerned this problem has been resolved (using educated error)

The boot of the ASA when he tries to use the command 'system startup' file in the config. If it is not very well this file (it was not there because you renamed it), it starts the first image he will find...

However for ASDM ASA uses just the image you have. You were pointing to asdm5.2 and renamed, there was no valied ASDM image to use.

In other words you must have just changed the 'asdm image"and"system start"commands in the config and point to new files, save the configuration and restart and then it would have worked fine.

    I hope it helps.
