I can install all programs on a separate hard drive to install Windows 7?

I have Windows 7 Ultimate and have been installing my programs on the C: drive. However, it is only 40 GB so I ordered a new drive and I was wondering if I could uninstall all my programs and re - install on the second disc, I would encounter problems such as file search programs in the hard drive? I have looked at other responses, but do not understand etc. extended partitions

Hello

Bad audio is not an uncommon problem in Windows 7. Try this for your audio problem:

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-in/windows7/how-do-i-stop-my-music-from-skipping-or-breaking-up-when-i-play-it .

Let me know if this fixes that issue for you.

The default installation directory, although you can change, all default Windows programs will be always need to reside in C:\Program Files and Program Files (x 86). You would be better to do a clean install with Windows and your programs to the new larger capacity disk and keeping the smaller disk to your audio and video files.

Kind regards

BearPup

P.S. I would increase the pagefile to 6144 (1.5 times the amount of RAM). Or you could try a 16 GB for the ReadyBoost flash drive. See the following article: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/using-windows-readyboost-to-increase-performance/ .

  • How can I transfer encrypted files from old hard drive removed (transfer windows easy?)

    Hello

I'm trying to get some files off my old hard drive encrypted. He has xp on it, and I can't start on my new computer. Since it is a separate, apparently, I can't do either windows easy transfer. Is it possible for me to locate the certificate and key, or to transfer files with the key and the certificate on my new computer (I have password from the old computer if I need that)? Can I somehow run WET on this hard drive for keys/certificates can be transferred. This seems to be a common problem from what I have read.
Otherwise, do you have ideas on how to start my old xp disk on my new system without reformatting?
Very important to get these files.
    Thank you!

First of all, I assume you mean encrypted files (EFS, Encrypting File System).  These files are encrypted with a key that is still encrypted in your system like a certificate.  In order to read your encrypted on any other system files, you must restore the certificate from a backup.  The short article is mandatory for anyone considering the use of EFS:

  • How I can run XP and Win7 on separate hard drives and one PC?

I had a HD crash all using XP Pro. I bought a new 1 TB hard drive. I got a free upgrade to Win7 with my PC. I proceeded to program my new hard drive with XP and made good.  When I bnotted I was asked if I wanted to go to Win7 or if I wanted to an earlier version. Worked pretty well.  2 OS - XP Pro and Win7 with their own hard drive.

Last week, I discovered 2 very important programs have to use XP. I bought another hard drive; and now my life is quickly falling away.  I have worked with Dell throughout the day and have the first hard drive using XP but I'm having some difficulties to paginate in Win7.  He suggested, I use the function F2 to setup and change the sequence of boot but that takes a lot of extra time. And now my (currently (E) CR reader contains a description of hard disk)

Can anyone provide a solution to this.

  • How can I replace a compaq presario C762NR hard drive and reinstall windows?

My friend brought me his computer and said that he would not start. I tried to boot into safe mode and normal mode and it would not work. It would simply flash a blue screen and restart. After you run a test it is determined that the hard drive has failed. A new laptop is not an option at this point.

I bought a new hard drive and I ordered the HP recovery disk. What are the appropriate steps to complete this replacement?

The computer is out of warranty and so is the hard drive. The computer has Windows Vista on it. The failed hard drive was 160 gb, 2.5 ", SATA 1.5 gb/s, 8 MB cache. The news is the same except that it is SATA 3 gb/s.

This is my first time, replacing a hard drive. I'm confident about it, but I want to just make sure I do it correctly.

    Hello

All you have to do after replacing the HARD drive is the following.

Start Notepad and open the CD/DVD drive.  Insert the first disc of recovery.  Hold the power button until the laptop stops.  Press the power button to start the laptop that should now boot from the recovery disk and start the recovery process.

I need to move my Creative Suite cloud of my boot drive on another drive, E: in this case. How can I configure this for all future programs Adobe go when downloaded and updated?

    1. installation location change the default (as described by the poster above, under applications / CC / installation location.)

2 uninstalling each app (using the "device" next to the name of the app). When prompted, indicate that the uninstall should not remove your settings.

3 reinstall each app. It will be published in the new location of the installation. Your original drive will always be some files Adobe CC (and, I think, the application launcher Adobe CC itself), but most of your articles will be in the new location.

    Hello Edtannjr,

Thank you for your message.  Remember that the operating system itself takes place and many OEM systems contains a recovery partition which can take up to a space as well.

  • need help to get rid of xp so I can install windows 7

I have download kill disk and he burned on a cd and started on the cd, but he has done notheing. I'm trying to reformat the hard drive, so I can install windows 7 is there a tool for command line, I can use instead

You can do so during the installation of Windows 7.  Moving from XP to Windows 7, you can only do a "custom" installation

    Note

Formatting your hard drive during the installation of Windows 7 is not necessary. If you wish to format your hard drive, and you use a Windows 7 upgrade version, do not use a program from another software manufacturer to reformat your hard drive before installing Windows 7. Instead, start your PC using the Windows 7 upgrade installation disc or a USB flash drive, click Custom (Advanced) and then click drive options (Advanced).

Make sure that your hardware can support Windows7 by running the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor.

Make sure that you have downloaded Windows 7 need drivers for your hardware.

Make sure that you have backed up your files and other data that you can restore everything after installing Windows 7.  You can use Windows Easy Transfer.  If so, make sure that get you from the link below.

Make sure you have all the installation media (CD/DVD or Installer files) for all applications that you want to reinstall once Windows 7 has been installed downloaded.

  • I can install Windows 7 64-bit disk external eSATA SSD as my OS boot?

I would like to install on in-house, but I also need to run RAID disks for my data for redundancy.  I want to we SSD for my OS drive for obvious reasons (speed).  But the TRIM command to clean up the SSD is not functional through RAID controllers.  I wonder if Windows 7 is set up and operate from an eSATA drive?  My BIOS doesn't let me choose eSATA as a boot drive, but I've seen messages that mention the operating system Windows do not allow you to install on external drives.  I understand also is the eSATA 3 Gb/s, but I wonder if there are differences in bandwidth external case?

Or maybe the native command of Windows 7 ATA-TRIM works through RAID controllers?

Otherwise, I could have all the discs for the IDE installation, and then use Windows software RAID controller, but I believe that would considerably slow down my data disks, which is far from ideal as.

Any clarity on this would be appreciated.  I don't want to go down a path of $700 and a lot of time if the result is not good.

    Hi Jeff_Elucidate,

You can install Windows 7 on external hard drive ESATA. Plugin from the player to your computer, go to the BIOS and make sure the ESATA drive is set as the default device to start. And during the installation of Windows 7 to install the necessary drivers and you must have your Windows 7 installed on drive ESATA.
