  You will not be able to find answers to these questions and Toshiba doesn't offer the database page or support for certain models of laptops with a list of all compatible parts.

  If your laptop's SATA HDD theoretically there should be no problem to use 500 GB HARD drive.

  I bought a Satellite L40 - 14N on Dec. 8. It came with Vista Home Premium installed. 1 getting started I noticed that the 120 GB HARD drive 2 50/55 GB partitions, both being on C: System files. What is the purpose of this implementation, why 2 partitions (excluding the recovery partition). Vista comes with partition resizing software?

  To my knowledge the portable computers preinstalled Vista come with 2 partitions.
  One is visible and contains the Vista and additional software. The second HDD is not visible and was created for Vista restore options.

  As I understand it the HARD drive on your laptop has been divided into 3 partitions. 2 visible (50/55 GB) and the other not visible (15 GB). Am I wrong?
  It's very strange for me because I didn't see any series of Satellite equipped of two partitions (factory settings).

  Have you checked the second partition? What is stored on the second partition?

  I think that there is nothing you can do about it.
  Satellite A300 comes with several different hardware configurations and several different mothers. Really, I don't think that you can add it in addition.

  FYI exact nearest maintainer contact authorized Toshiba and ask for help.

  I have a German P300-PSPCCE bought a few months ago. I noticed that the laptop has two bays for 2.5 "sata DISKS, which one is already ocupied by the drive by default, and the other has some ankles plastic on the portable drive door, which makes impossible to another harddrive on the Bay.

  The question is: if I remove the pins plastic of the door drive and put another HARD disk, with appropriate fixing stuff, the laptop can handle? (power, motherboard compatibility and so on...)

  Now it s hard to find this old P200 motherboard.

  My brother has Satellite P300 and we found the same situation.
  Most important is if your laptop has connector to the second HARD drive. If so, you can connect but it needs the HARD drive cover.
  My brother has deleted these rods plastic carefully and everything is OK now. It uses 250 GB SATA HDD.

  Old motherboard, you can try to get a Toshiba authorized service provider in your country.
  Another way Google a little bit and see if you can find some online store where you can order one.
  Another option is to check eBay.
  Maybe you can find some old P200 with broken screen, but with good working motherboard.

  In my opinion, this hardware upgrade is certainly possible, but due to construction and specific design, it must be done by authorized personnel only.
  All components are placed under the hood of the LCD screen and remove the cover of the LCD screen is pretty tricky.

  In my opinion, you should contact the nearest Toshiba service provider and ask for help. They can do for you and more importantly that you won't lose valid warranty.

  Less than 4 months SEOtoolkit hdd freezing...

  I found that it was bad n decided 2 get herbs a... I used the recovery cd, it stil freezes before, during and afta installation, which makes the PC unusable.

  I decided to install win98 on it... installed, but when it starts to drive plug n play devices, the system is freez. same thing when installing win xp...

  I used the driver raid f6 with win xp installation bt stil option, nothing helps. am finkg ther any conflict but can not understand. I checkd the bios to see if I culd mode sata/ahci bt it is not in vain. am so confused... pls help m.

  To be honest, to me that sounds like that there is something wrong with your HARD drive.

  I am completely agree with Akuma and you should test your HARD drive with the Drive Test of physical fitness. I used this test too and I can say, it s easy enough to use so don t be you worry about this! ;)
  Memtest86 is really good to test the RAM, so you should check it out too.

  If you want to install Windows XP, you need the SATA drivers. You can find it in the Intel Storage Manager.

  Recovery image is not downloadable, and if you can't install OS HARD drive partition you must order the original Toshiba Recovery DVD.

  Of course you can do it.
  The DVD of Vista recovery Toshiba help you install Vista, all the drivers Toshiba and tools, and it automatically creates all the partitions.

  So what you have to do is to boot from the recovery DVD and follow the instructions on-screen ;)

  You can upgrade the HDD on the Portege, but the HARD drive must be compatible!
  You have a 80 GB (4200 RPM) Slim PATA (1.8-inch) MK8007GAH) HARD drive.

  In my opinion, you can also use a 100 GB and 120 GB HDD with higher rotation. This should t be a problem.
