There are problems with Windows Mail in Vista.   You need to make sure that the antivirus software does not WinMail.  See www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#3 .

Once you do this, then try to go to the Outbox and delete the messages there.  If you can't, close WinMail and use my Windows Mail utility to compact and repair the database and clear the Outbox (www.oehelp.com/WMUtil/).  Then delete your e-mail account, close and reopen WinMail and then add your account to e-mail back again.  If it is a POP3 e-mail account and you have access to multiple devices, then you should go to tools | Accounts | Mail | Properties | Advanced and set to leave a copy of messages on the server (so other devices can access the messages) and set then remove them after a certain number of days, so they don't accumulate and clog the Inbox on the server.

  • Can't send emails using Windows Mail on Vista SP2

I am running Windows Mail on Vista SP2. I hv set up one account using POP with a supplier's existing PSI (not the one I use). Able to read and send messages. He stopped working for the send now option. Get updates warned miss the numeric identifiers and, finally, an error: the connection to the server has failed. Are subject: join my network on LinkedIn', account: ' ', server: 'smtp.iprimus.com.au', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, secure (SSL): no, Socket error: 10060, error number: 0x800CCC0E. E-mail messages remain in the Outbox and Inbox update regularly.

I'm not sure of what is a provider of 'hope', but if you try to send via an SMTP server that does belong not to the Internet provider to which you are connected, then it will be probably blocked.  Many vendors have a mechanism to overcome that, but you must check with the individual POP3 provider to determine the port numbers and other settings to enable the SMTP protocol work (this is to avoid spam).

I don't know if this will help or not, but if you can send the same email as your Internet service provider and may not by another, then this is probably the reason.

Make sure you also deleted you account, closed and reopened Winmail opener and then added it again (or add another copy of the same account) to ensure that something is not altered in these settings.

  • Can not save attachments in Windows Mail in Vista Local folders or subfolders

I have a new Vista 64 system and I have actually two problems.  First of all, I can't move old emails (more 2 G total) of my XP Outlook Express email on my old laptop in Vista 64 - bit Windows Mail on my new desktop.  Files folders and the content may be downloaded, but have not been recognized and installed by Win. Mail.  I talked to several computer technicians who could not find a solution except either to send the emails from old files individually or as a group to myself to my server (Yahoo more).  Is there a better solution?  Secondly, when I send my self a such email with multiple attachments and I try to save, I can't find a thread that will lead to my Windows Mail > local folders > Inbox >(folders and sub-folders).  Nor can I drag-and - drop these saved emails (they contain many different endings) to these files. Help, please.

    Hello Mmmaltby,

Thank you for using Microsoft Vista answers Forum!

A common method to transfer everything via is to use the Export command in Outlook Express to save all messages and contacts to separate files, copy them to the Vista PC and then use the option import (on the file menu) to import the data into Windows Mail.

If please reply and let us know if your problem is resolved or if you need more help

  • How can I import groups of Windows Mail contacts in Windows Live Mail?

I work in a small office where we have computers running Windows Vista and using Windows Mail (version 6.0.6000.16388).  We have hundreds of contacts and a few contact groups on these computers.

A few months ago, we got two new computers running Windows XP and Windows Live mail (version 2009, version 14.0.8089.0726).  Other computers at the office always have Vista and the other version of Windows Mail.

I was able to export our hundreds of contacts and import them into Windows Live Mail for new computers have all the contacts... but I was unable to find a way to import groups.

These groups are all very large and comprise mostly/entirely out of contacts that do not have individual contact entries.

I've been Googling for a solution to this problem.  The page nearest you, that I could find was this:

    http://www.SevenForums.com/tutorials/3818-Windows-Live-Mail-import-Vista-contacts-contact-groups.html

I was very discouraged when I saw the big red warning to the top of the page:

    ---------------
In the Groups of Contact with Vista, only contacts who are also included as normal Contacts will be imported into Windows Live Mail. Contacts that have been created for the Contact Group only will not be imported into Windows Live Mail. You will need to write these down and add them manually in Windows Live Mail.
    ---------------

This pretty much described my situation exactly, but manually going through all groups, write all contacts, and then import them manually into two separate machines should always and is simply not an option.

Are there really no other way I can get these groups into Windows Live Mail?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you very much!

I have not actually tried this, but I think this method will work.

    1. get a free Live ID (or @hotmail.com or @live.com).

    2. install Windows Live Mail on Vista computer. During the installation, it will offer to signature with a Live ID. Do.

    3. the first performance of Windows Live Mail, it will be important to all contacts from Windows Mail. Give him enough time to synchronize all contacts with the web version of this Live ID.

    4. open Windows Live Mail on the new computer and then connect with the same Live ID. The automatic synchronization process will transfer in all contacts of the web version of this Live ID.

  • I can't see gif images in mail win vista. I can see all other images in mail win.

I installed IE9 on my desk and now when I use Win mail and insert a gif image will not display. If I click on the empty space where the image should be, that it will only display the selection around the gif image handles but not the image itself. Once I have selected the space with the handles around him, I can select the option copy and then paste copied selection into a graphics program and it will show. This means that the image is in the email, but does not show. If I send the email to someone the gif image will show in their email. If I get an email with a gif image, it does not appear in my email. I can drag and select where the gif image should be and then copying and pasting into a graphics program and it will be there. I have links to two screenshots of what I'm trying to say. The first shows what happens when I insert images into a new e-mail message. All other graphic images show except for gif images and I can choose the gif images but only the handles show. The second shows what it looks like when someone sends me a gif image. Anyone else have this problem with gif images? I must have a parameter incorrectly. I tried to go back to IE8 that corrects the problem. Today I installed IE9 on my laptop and it can display gif images in Win mail

I suspect it's a question of IE9 and not a set, but a bug.  There are already known between WinMail and IE9 problems: see www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#15

  • Can receive but not send Windows Mail. Seems to be a reference to Spamhaus

The message could not be sent. The authentication setting are may not be wrong for your e-mail [SMTP] Server outgoing. To resolve this issue, go to help, search for "Troubleshoot Windows Mail" and read the section "I have problems sending e-mail". If you need help to determine the appropriate server settings, contact your e-mail service provider.

The rejected e-mail address was (deleted) 'Congratulations of Galway', account: 'Webmail.eircom.net', server: 'mail1.eircom.net', Protocol: SMTP, server response: 550 5.1.1 <(deleted>list black by Spamhaus: http://www.spamhaus.org/query/bl?188.141.66.40 ';', Port: 25, secure (SSL): no, Server error: 550, error number: 0x800CCC79.

It seems that your IP address is blocked for some reason any and that seems to be the reason why you can not send.  This is something that only your email provider can fix and you need to contact them to determine what to do about the issue.

  • I have an attachment to an Outlook Express in my Windows Mail Inbox. I just can't get out of Windows Mail and in a folder.

Vista SP2 64-bit of Windows Mail. On another computer (XP Home Premium, 32-bit Outlook Expr), I scanned a picture and saved in .bmp format. I have it attached to an e-mail that I sent to my other computer (the computer on which I write this) and was missing the extension in the name of the file and I can not move the file to a folder on the C drive? I also tried to import the image by copy and paste file into a flash drive. When I open the flash drive on this computer, the image file is missing.  All ideas, including not to buy a machine to print/copy/scan for this computer or our machine print/copy/scan to install on this computer.

    Are little sensitive printers?

Start > Search box, type folder options > press the Enter key > display tab > under files and folders, is there a check mark in "Hide extensions of known file types"?
If so, uncheck it > OK for the benefits of others looking for answers, please mark as answer suggestion if it solves your problem.

  • How can I get rid of Windows Mail?

I have Windows Vista and I have this stupid Windows mail that comes with it. I never use this program and I was wondering if there is anyway to get rid of it. I also went to remove its files, but he says that the files were nesesary to running some programs, so I decided to not to remove. So, is it a safe way to get rid of Windows mail without messing something up? Thank you for your time and support, of lnachtigal

You cannot get rid of Windows Mail because it's part of your Vista operating system. If you use it, there should not be a problem, but you can disable it if you wish.

I'm unable to send some mail using windows mail.  I tried to send test e-mails to my own hotmail address that works very well, but for some reason, that cannot send e-mail messages to other addresses. I tried to send them with or without attachments, and they are not always sent. I get the message:

    Hi Kiss

Thanks for your reply.  I've isolated the problem.  It seems that a particular email could not be sent and has been 'blocking' of the Outbox.  It's very strange that the content in the email was the same as any other email I sent without problems this morning - I guess it could be something to do with the e-mail address? The address is for a Spanish newspaper online: * e-mail address is removed from the privacy *.

In any case, at least I can send other emails now and I guess I'll just have to send it by mail!  If you could shed some light on the mystery of why that particular address is a problem, I would be very grateful :-)

    Thank you

    Helen

  • I can't get into my Windows mail. Get this ERROR that I have Vista

Your server suddenly put an end to the connection. The possible causes for this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of inactivity. Account: 'Pop CHARTER.net', server: 'Pop. CHARTER.net', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, secure (SSL): no, error number: 0x800CCC0F

"Unexpected" termination is usually caused by interference from an incompatible anti-virus program. First of all, go to its settings and disable any interaction with the e-mail, and then try again Windows Mail. If no improvement, do an uninstall of the trial. Another option is to upgrade to Windows Live Mail, which is more resistant to the negative effects too intrusive anti-virus products: http://get.live.com/wlmail/overview

    I hope this helps.

    Good day.
