I can't access my remote desktop settings

so, I recently tried to set up my remote desktop settings, but in my attempt, I came across a bone of sorts. When I tried to access the settings, I couldn't find even if it should have been there.

This is where I got stuck (see photo) I do not know what causes this error, but it is quite confusing. If anyone of you has a solution for this problem I would be grateful for any help

my system is a windows 7 Home premium (laptop) - if that makes a difference.

Thank you very much.

What version of Windows 7 you are using.  Remote Desktop is available in the Professional Edition, Ultimate or enterprise.

To clarify this point a bit: only Windows 7 Professional can act as a remote host. Any Windows machine can use remote desktop to start a session on a host RDP.

  • If I configure Windows XP for automatic logon, then I can't access with Remote Desktop in Windows 7.

I have Windows XP on my old computer and Windows 7 on my new.

I have my old computer with auto-logon installation as described in http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315231, when it starts, it will automatically in Windows XP.

However, if I try to connect remotely from my new computer with Windows 7, I can I connect, but as soon as the old computer hangs on the spot, the automatic connect feature kicks in and the old computer connects again locally, actually expel the connection at a distance in a few seconds.

    Please notify. Thank you.

I think that this is normal, you cannot establish a remote desktop connection to a Windows XP computer when automatic login is enabled, I believe that this has been changed in Windows 7.

    Hi CamilleHolt,

    1. were you able to use the before remote desktop connection?

You can try the following steps and check if it helps.

    a. Click Start, point to settings and then click Control Panel.

    b. double-click System and select the remote settings and then click the Remote tab.

    c. click Select users, and then add the name of the user account

    d. click Add and then click OK.

Note: Adding users to the remote desktop group requires that you are connected via an administrator account.

    Hope this information is useful.

Yes you can, please try the following:

1 right-click 'Computer' and select 'Properties' (or open 'Control panel' and select 'System')

    2. click on "Remote settings" in the upper left corner of the window
    3. on the "Remote" tab, select "allow connections to this computer remotely.

    4. make sure that you uncheck "Allow only the connection of computers running Office remotely with level (recommended) network authentication" as I'm sure that XP does not support this.

    I hope this helps.

Please let me know how you go with this

In Windows 7 and XP only professional versions can act as a hostfor Remote Desktop.

There could be similar restrictions on Windows Vista.

In each case, you must configure the host to allow VPN connections. To test, run these commands:

    1. On the host itself:
      Telnet %ComputerName% 3389
    2. On any computer on your network:
      Telnet {Hostname or IP host address} 3389

In each case, you get a response. If you do not then the host is not set correctly or its firewall blocking your access.

  • How can I access the Advanced Javascript settings?

I am aware that, in recent versions of Firefox, the ability to disable Javascript has been deleted. I don't intend to reopen the discussion of that particular decision. But removing this option also removed access to the menu Javascript Advanced settings, which was much more useful than just disable Javascript itself. For example, although rarely, I have disabled Javascript entirely (other than at my own site of debugging), I disabled systematically the ability of Web sites to disable context menus or move and resize popup windows.

Unlike turning off Javascript altogether, these are the settings that provide a positive benefit for the 'ordinary' (non-developer) users. If, say, I want to open a link in a new tab, then the correct way to do this is right-click on it. Sites which disable the right-click degrade the user experience and to allow a way to replace it is a good thing. What is the justification for removing the ability to disable Javascript entirely (and I don't understand, even if I don't agree with him), I see no reason to remove access to these advanced settings.

So my question is, how do I re-enable javascript access produce settings? I don't see any obvious setting for her in: config and simply disable javascript entirely through this method is not what I want to do.

I have a post that lists the three corresponding about: config preferences here: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/967108#answer-464407

The two rules are configured exactly the same except for the IP addresses and I can't see why I can't connect to this server.

I am also able to connect to my camera system with an IP on port 37777 192.168.2.25 and able to ping any other device on the network internal.

I also tried ping he and Telnet to port 3390 without success.

    Thanks for your help

    Ok

So, basically, you set up the router so that you can directly connect to the ASA using the Cisco VPN Client. And also, the goal was ultimately only allow traffic to the LAN through the VPN Client ONLY connection.

It seems to me to realize that you have only the following configurations of NAT

VPN Client NAT0 / free of NAT / identity NAT

the object of the LAN network

    Subnet 192.168.2.0 255.255.255.0

    network of the VPN-POOL object

    subnet 10.1.1.128 255.255.255.128

NAT static destination LAN LAN (indoor, outdoor) static source VPN-VPN-POOL

The NAT configuration above is simply to tell the ASA who don't do any type of NAT when there is traffic between the network 192.168.2.0/24 LAN and VPN 10.1.1.128/25 pool. That way if you have additional hosts on the local network that needs to be connected to, you won't have to do any form of changes to the NAT configurations for customer VPN users. You simply to allow connections in the ACL list (explained further below)

    Failure to PAT

    object-group network by DEFAULT-PAT-SOURCE

    object-network 192.168.2.0 255.255.255.0

NAT automatic interface after (indoor, outdoor) dynamic source by DEFAULT-PAT-SOURCE

This configuration is intended just to replace the previous rule of PAT dynamic on the SAA. I guess that your router will do the translation of the ASA "outside" IP address of the interface to the public IP address of routers and this configuration should allow normal use of the Internet from the local network.

I suggest you remove all other NAT configurations, before adding these.

Control of the VPN clients access to internal resources

Also, I assume that your current VPN client is configured as full Tunnel. In other words, it will tunnel all traffic to the VPN connection, so that its assets?

To control traffic from the VPN Client users, I would suggest that you do the following

    • Set up "no sysopt permit vpn connection"

      • This will change the ASA operation so that connections through a VPN connection NOT allowed by default in order to bypass the ACL 'outside' interface. So, after this change, you can allow connections you need in the 'outer' interface ACL.
    • Configure rules you need for connections from VPN clients to the "external" ACL interface. Although I guess they already exist as you connect there without the VPN also

I can't say this with 100% certainty, but it seems to me that the things above, you should get to the point where you can access internal resources ONLY after when you have connected to the ASA via the connection of the VPN client. Naturally take precautions like backups of configuration if you want to major configuration changes. If you manage remotely the ASA then you also also have the ability to configure a timer on the SAA, whereupon it recharges automatically. This could help in situations where a missconfiguration breaks you management connection and you don't have another way to connect remotely. Then the ASA would simply restart after that timer missed and also restart with the original configuration (as long as you did not record anything between the two)

Why you use a different port for the other devices RDP connection? I can understand it if its use through the Internet, but if the RDP connection would be used by the VPN Client only so I don't think that it is not necessary to manipulate the default port 3389 on the server or on the SAA.

Also of course if there is something on the side of real server preventing these connections then these configuration changes may not help at all.

Let me know if I understood something wrong

If necessary do in safe mode

    Windows Vista

    Using the F8 method:

    1. Restart your computer.
    2. When the computer starts, you will see your computer hardware are listed. When you see this information begins to tap theF8 key repeatedly until you are presented with theBoot Options Advanced Windows Vista.
    3. Select the Safe Mode option with the arrow keys.
    4. Then press enter on your keyboard to start mode without failure of Vista.
    5. To start Windows, you'll be a typical logon screen. Connect to your computer and Vista goes into safe mode.
    6. Do whatever tasks you need and when you are done, reboot to return to normal mode.

    Hello

Want to send traffic destined to remote clients, through the tunnel from Site to Site.

The recommendation is to use a different ACL for nat0 and crypto ACL.

    Federico.

  • How can I access the Documents and settings folder in Windows 7?

Been searching the Internet for solutions, but found nothing.

Documents and Settings is not a real issue, and it contains all of the files.  It's a point of junction : a hidden and protected operating system file that is present for compatibility with some older programs.  He points to the real user C:\Users folder. Boulder computer Maven

  • I use vista home premium.i am the only user. In windows update, change the settings, I noticed information as "some settings are managed by your system administrator" under updates important, I can not access or change the settings.

recently, I tried to change the reg key by going to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\POLICIES\MICROSOFT\WINDOWS\WINDOWS UPDATE\AU" in the right panel, I changed my reg AUoptions value to 0.

I'm using norton 360 (ver 2.5.0.5) .no other norton is installed.my subscription will be emds after 865 days.

UH - huh. You have 2¼ ~ years remaining on an N360 2009 subscription. I see.

In this case, the Symantec Support should be able to help you eliminate the hijackware infection which is causing your problem.

    Good luck!

  • 2 remote computers can access a host at the same time using using XP Remote Desktop?

We have the situation where we have an industrial computer on a remote XP operating site.  Can we use the remote desktop of XP for both client computers to access this host at the same time?  There are only two client computers to look at the screen.

    Thank you

    Hello

Your question (Windows XP) is more complex than what is generally answered in the Microsoft Answers forums. It is better suited for the IT Pro TechNet public. Please ask your question in the XP of Windows IT Pro. You can follow the link to your question:

  • Connection remote desktop has appeared in my Start menu, but I don't use it, does that mean someone else has had access?

I sat down at my computer today (I'm the only person who uses it) and pulled the top of the start menu. There were four programs listed there that I have not used for several months:

    Remote Desktop connection
    Dreamweaver MX
    Freehand MX
    MS Office Picture Manager

In my opinion, that means that someone had access to my system.

Can I change my remote desktop connection to protect against this, or is a more complete analysis of my machine required?

The remote desktop connection settings include providing everyone the read and Read & Execute access. If I remove these options that will make me safer? Skype uses this access (this is the only thing that could, I think I use)?

I went to system properties and remote access disabled.
