I can't delete an old printer

The computer will not let me delete an old printer.  He tells me I have typed the name correctly and/or lost connection and cannot remove the printer.  I have typed the name correctly and I can't delete the printer.

Hi CLHenkel,

Welcome to Microsoft Answers Forums.

We would like to get some more information from you to help solve your problem.  You better, please answer the following questions.

  1. How do you try to remove the printer?
  2. What is the version of Windows installed on the computer?

Follow the steps below to remove a printer?

Note: You can't remove a printer if you have elements in the print queue. If items are waiting to print when you try to remove a printer, Windows will wait until printing is complete, and then remove the printer. If you are allowed to manage documents on the printer, you can also cancel all print jobs, and then try to remove the printer again. For more information, see Cancel printing and that are printer permissions?

1.

Open printers by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, hardware and soundand then click Printers.

2.

Right-click the printer you want to remove and then click Remove.

If you cannot delete the printer, right-click again, click run as administrator, and then click Remove. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
