  If you are using XP Home Edition, you will need to install the XP Backup utility yourself and here are some instructions on how to do it.

  If you are not using XP Home and XP backup is to give you some grief, try to describe the issue in more detail.

  The backup program is automatically installed on XP Professional, but not on XP Home. If you have the genuine bootable XP Home installation CD, insert it into your system and navigate to this folder:

  \ValueAdd\MSFT\NTBACKUP

  Double-click the Ntbackup.msi file to start the installation.

  Windows corrupted my component store updates. By the time I realized it happened to my restore points were useless. I tried to do an upgrade using the Windows 7 installation install disc purchased from the Microsoft Store. Even with the let search online for updated files, it wouldn't install indicating that the operating system is newer than the version on the installation disc. I have a valid installation disk, but due the fact that you bought as a Family pack upgrade, site recovery for Microsoft software doesn't let me download ISO.
  I can understand blocking purchases OEM, but why upgrades? It makes no sense to me.

  I went through all the other options by adding files necessary mum & cat and the left one mistake is the version of component store. I have another computer that has been upgraded with the same drive and works very well. Is it possible to use it to repair this PC? If not, does anyone have an idea how to fix this? Living on disability, I can't afford to buy a new copy of the disc, and I don't think I should.

  I almost forgot calling the Microsoft Store was more no help. They only seem to care about selling products.
