The case, first try to find the executable file for Windows Media Player and create a new shortcut from that.

    1. open Windows Explorer (not Internet Explorer).

    2. navigate to:

    C:\Program Files\Windows Media Player

    3. find the file named wmplayer.exe and then right-click on it and create a shortcut on the desktop.

    4. test the shortcut.

If the above does not work, try:

    1. click on Start (lower-left) and then on Control Panel.

    2. click on programs and features.

    3. on the left side of the screen, click on 'Windows turn features on or off".

    4. look for the entry called multimedia features, expand it, and then *check the box next to Windows Media Player.

    5. click on OK.

    6. restart the PC.

    * If the Windows Media Player box is already checked, uncheck the box , click OK, restart your PC, then do steps 1-6 above.

    Hello

Version 9 is for Windows XP, and also runs on Windows 7. There are also Windows Media Player Classic, both available from cnet.com:

Not version 10 in itself, but it meets your other needs (for XP and 64-Bit). Hope it will be useful.

    Hello

Flash Player and Windows Media Player are not interchangeable.

Like many things on the web, the Flash Player local storage can be put to bad use. This does not necessarily mean the Flash Player without scruples or bad product - it's the sites Web/people who abuse of this (depending on your point of view).

You can configure Flash Player to block local storage on your computer. This does not necessarily all the features of Flash Player - for example with my set of Flash Player to block local storage I can still see videos on YouTube.

The controls for the Flash Player local storage can be found here: *

    Start-> Control Panel-> Flash Player (32-bit) (Tab instorage )

There is a good explanation of privacy and local storage of Flash Player here:

    I hope this helps.

    * You have not stated your version of Windows, so it's Windows 7.

    Hello

Windows Media Player does not support playback of the .mp4 file format. You can reproduce .mp4 media files in Windows Media Player when you install the decoders compatible DirectShow MPEG-4 packs. For more information, see this Microsoft KB article.

  • Question for Microsoft Support; I have a huge amount of music files .m4a that I can not play on Windows Media Player?

    Question for Microsoft Support;
I have a LARGE amount of files music .m4a in a storage drive stand alone that I downloaded from an old Apple computer have more possession of. I can't understand how to enter these data into my old Emachines computer Windows Vista run the Media Player program. I tried to copy a few files m4a manually in the file Media Player Music folder, but they do not play. I'm not really all that computer savvy and know only the basics, I need to use my computer really. Can you give me some step by step instructions how to get these converted files or whatever it is I need to do to get them to play and to integrate properly into my library if it is possible? If this isn't the case, I'll have to go out and buy a new Apple computer for my 60 GB music collection. In the past, that I've never had no real problem shooting files to leave this computer based Vista and convert these files to my old computers Apple Itunes Player. So what's the problem with your system of guys that done anyway this such a pain in the butt? I would really like to understand what exactly is happening with this issue? It's very frustrating for me. I'm a finish Carpenter not a computer programmer. Such things should not be so difficult for someone like me to understand. All I intend to buy a really nice computer, probably in the summer and was considering a Microsoft based computer. But if this kind of problem will be spread with Microsoft products, so maybe I should reconsider. help you can offer to alleviate this problem will be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you

    Tim M. from Detroit.

According to research on the Internet, Windows Media Player, atleast this is version 11 (included in Windows Vista and available for Windows XP SP2 +) cannot play Apple loseless type .m4a audio files without having to install any codecs.

If you want to use Windows Media Player, you can follow the instructions mentioned here to install the necessary codecs and plugins.

(In the related instructions above, in the first step talks about codecs - your .m4a files are files Apple loseless then follow the party referred to in the first stage about Apple loseless .m4a)

Personally, I prefer using alternatives to Windows Media Player rather than installing codec packs.

If you don't want to install codecs, download no matter what media player from "programs that open. M4A files"- Windows category list on this page.

If you use a spare player - VLC Media Player is my choice.

  • How can I change the Windows Media Player the default player for?

One morning when I open my computer, I found that Windows 10 had been installed without my agreement.  I would not accept the terms and windows 10 has been removed.  However, they have changed my settings where now my default player is itunes instead of Windows Media player.  When they removed ten windows they didn't put my settings back to where they were before

  • How can I remove the Windows Media Player library?

I have Windows 7 Professional 64-bit Edition and Windows Media Player 12.0.7600.166667.

I finally got my music organized, so I deleted some files from my computer and moved songs between folders.  It seems that I can't remove all the songs from Windows Media Player which do not exist physically.  I tried to empty my entire library, I could rebuilt it.  In Windows Media Player, I clicked on the music (left), and then I clicked on the first song, hold down the SHIFT key and click the last song so that all my music has been chosen.  Then, I clicked and selected delete.  I said that I wanted to remove JUST the library, no computer.  When he was done, there was still 5501 songs left.  I know that once, I could just delete wmplibrary.db, but I get no hits on that when I get into the field at the bottom of the start menu.  I decided to uninstall Windows Media Player and reinstall, but when I go to start-> Control Panel-> uninstall a program, the only entry I see that looks remotely Windows Media Player is Windows Media Encoder 9 Series... but I wasn't brave enough to try it.

    Any ideas?  Thank you!

Wow - thank you, my mp3 player thanks and my children thank you!  The convenience store did not help - he told me that my library has been altered... as I didn't know that already!  But the manual method operated very well... but if someone else is reading this for help, I don't have to start my computer in safe mode because one of the files (which was large enough that it WAS probably the file that I needed deleted) was in use with the network share and I had no idea how close anyone who opened.  But in safe mode worked very well.

Thank you very much for your help!  And thanks for the information on troubleshooting: I had never heard of this before!
