I can't open a live Movie Maker project file.

I tried to download it on SkyDrive. I clicked on add files and select the computer, but the project file will not always be open. How can I access the project folder for the movie I was doing?

Hi, I'm having a similar problem but have 1 idea as to why I can't open my .mswmm file. I have two xp machines running sp3, but a pro and a home edition if it matters.

the file.mswmm I am trying to open was created on the moviemaker version 2.1.4028.0 and it still works fine on this machine. On the xp pro machine, he is Director of windows 2.1.4026.0.

The project .mswmm file is best to use the system that created
because it takes all the source files... Video clips, Photos, music
files... always be available at the original location.

Moving from one computer to another can work if you move as best
all of the source files. When you open the .mswmm file you will see
Xs red instead of thumbnails of the source but if you right click the red Xs
You should be able to navigate to the new location of the files sources and re-
    establish the path.

  • Why are there no sound on some of my downloaded on Windows Live Movie Maker avi files?

Using Windows Live Movie Maker for the first time (already used Windows Movie Maker) and have added a number of clips from my computer, all the files AVI, taken on the same camcorder. When I go to change about half have sound and the other half have no sound. Volume on my computer and WLMM is high for all the clips but makes no difference. Have tried to remove one of the clips, no sound and add it back, but makes no difference. All clips will play direct using media files Media Player, but those with no sound have also no sound if I open it with Windows Media Player.

    Really frustrating!

    Any ideas?

    Thanks for your reply.

I've updated everything is available in Windows Update - although there is nothing specific to sound. It made no difference.

I also checked HP for updates - but none was necessary.

After doing some googling more, I downloaded the K-lite codec pack which fortunately solved the problem in Windows Media Player. Although he did not no difference for WLMM - so now posted a request in this forum - fingers crossed!

    Thanks again

  • Windows Live Movie Maker error Code: 0x80004005__

When I try to open Windows Live Movie Maker from my list of startup programs, there is a quick flash on my screen, and then the error Code window appears telling me that WLMM had to close and try again from, it. Then this error code is present.

I am able to open and start Messenger, Mail opens (although I do not use it), Live Call said it's "not available at this time", Gallery of photos and writer, both work very well.

I wondered if maybe that Movie Maker will not open because I'm in Win 7 and have Windows DVD Maker installed natively with the operating system. I'm probably wrong thinking it, but I was wondering.

Anyway, the idea is to open Windows Live Movie Maker. Any thoughts on what could be the problem would be really appreciated.

    ===================================
First of all, a simple solution... ask your friend to save
the Movie Maker project in the. WMV video format
and send it to you... so you can run it in Windows
Media Player as you would any other video clip.

    More info...

If your friend has sent you a "project file" for Movie Maker...
It will be with the extension .mswmm or .wlmp...
useless, unless you have copies of all sources
... of photos, video clips, audio files. Also you
will need a version of Movie Maker that is compatible
    with the project file.

There are several versions of Movie Maker and the
    project files are not retro-compatible.

Just to clarify... a Movie Maker project file is not
a video file... it is simply a text file that records the
path to the source files and saves any changes that
    Used effects and transitions.

  • problems with windows live movie maker

I made a video Windows live Director. He sent to myself, I am unable to watch it on any computer except the one on which I made the video. What should I do?

This is a real video with the. Film WMV extension?
Or is it just a movie maker project file .mswmm?

A Movie Maker-.mswmm project file does not include the
source files... (Picture files, video Clips, music)... it's just
records the position that they are saved in your hard drive.
Basically, it's just a recipe for a movie. And... is useful only

Use a video converter and convert your .mov to wmv format. Re-import into Movie Maker.
    It should work fine now.

What do you mean "I'm done with Live Movie Maker as editing in Windows Movie Maker was not possible." I have two in my computer, and I prefer to use WMM instead of WLMM.
