  I have am acer aspire 5050-3371 laptop with windows vista and all available updates currently installed.  My problem is that whenever the battery is installed, you will need to press several times for the password several times before that they will appear on the password entry screen.  given that the actual characters do not show do not know if the correct letters are engtered.  In addition if I remove the battery from the laptop the problem goes away.  You can type the easiily password and the system accepts it.  I tried to get help this problm of the Technical Support desk with Acer was cut when they determned that the laptop was not under warranty.  Any ideas for solving this problem?

  My only suggestion is to go on the manufacturer's site and buy a replacement battery.
  The problem is: it could be a bad connection between the battery and the laptop, in which case, you could have bought a new battery for nothing.

  To access the mode safe mode with networking, you need to press on at the start of the "F8" key and select "Safe Mode with networking" and see if you can get into the admin account and reset the password.   Assuming you don't have XP Pro and a member of a domain that applies Group policies, you should be able to change the maximum age of password using the command 'net accounts' command prompt.

  Open a command prompt window: (start-> Run-> "cmd")
  Enter the following command:

  NET accounts /maxpwage:180

  To set the maximum age of password to 180 days.

  1. open Control Panel peak power plan settings

  2. click on change settings that are currently unavailable

  3. click on Yes if UAC request

  4. change so require a password after reactivation to yes and click ok

  5. output that all displays should work for you...

• cannot type my login and my password

  I can type anywhere else, but can't type my login and my password in the creative cloud login window. An observation... the icon creative cloud on the menu bar is grayed out.

  I read a few other posts on this subject. It said update Creative Cloud software, but did not say how. The other says delete a file called opm.db and provided a path. This file does not exist on my Mac (I can see hidden files).

One of the things that briefly covered in course of last night is on the recovery of the lost Windows login passwords, as well as their reset. Given that we have actually demonstrated how to get into such a system, and as such, the tools are available pretty much everyone around me, is there much of a point using a hard-to-remember, hard to type complex login password? A simple (but hard to guess by humans, although easily broken by l0phtcrack) easy to type and remember password discourage someone by chance loggin and trapping me or do things, but anyone who would be committed to participate in the school has the tools and knowledge to do so.

  They boot CD, crackers, etc. I put a BIOS password, I think that there are ways around this. I know that there are jobs, I've just never bothered to investigate a laptop.

  In light of this, it is really worth the aggravation to use these complex passwords on my laptop? I want to store anything of value on the laptop. Just about everything what I record is stored on a flash drive, anyway, and I have my browser remember not the words of past value.

  The laptop is also old enough that few people will want to fly for the material.
