I can't update my iPhoto in El Capitan

Im having a problem to update my iPhoto when I upgraded to El Capitan recently. Everytime I open iPhoto, he invites me to take stock of the app store. However, when I entered my AppleID user and pass, it pops up the message:

"This update is not available for this Apple ID either because it was bought by another user or the item has been refunded or cancelled."

I tried the tab bought, but I didn't see any iPhoto there.

I would appreciate your help here. Thank you

What version you have now? It has always been improved via the App Store?

  • I bought a Macbook used, and now I can't update iMovie, iPhoto and iTunes without apple ID of the older owner how can I work around this?

    Hey everybody,

This is my first post. A couple of years, I bought a used Macbook. I never did update (it is so long and then I decide to Watch youtube videos... it is not used for work or school). So now, I've updated the Yosemite and I want to get everything updated and it requires that I put a password of the former owner apple ID to update iTunes, iPhoto and iMovie. How can I get around this without reformatting and losing thousands of photos and all my files.

    Thank you guys.

If you are the legal owner of the computer, but if the software you want is owned by another user is not yours. You cannot add any other purchases to your ID. You own, or that they are.

  • I can't update iPhoto,

everytime I open the application App Store it tells me that there is an available update (9.6.1) for iPhoto and then it tells me that I can not update it for reasons that do not apply to me as if it was the bad apple id I have iPhoto 9.4.3.

  • Using OsX Yosemite and App Store continues to display the update for iPhoto...

I have a Macbook Air 13 inch, (early 2015) use Yosemite (10.10.5).  It came with the Photos app, but iPhoto is still in my applications folder, but is grayed out.  However, from the beginning, the App Store showed that I have an update for iPhoto, (I bought it to 15 August) and it never goes away.   To try to get rid of him, I tried to update and I get two different messages "unavailable for this ID... updated" or "not available in the United States.  I had called for support and he could not know.  Of course, it does not affect the performance of the laptop but it's annoying to have constantly there.   Any ideas on how to do this, go away?  I have attached a few screenshots to show what I mean.  Thanks if someone can help (and sorry if I posted this in the community, did not find one for the App Store issues...)

  • How can I update iMovie?

After the update to El Capitan the iMovie app does not work with my old photos to iPhoto. They have partially disappeared from films. How to re - import the pix missing with new PHOTOS of the app to iMovie? How can I update iMovie? Same problem with GarageBand. Thank you, people of a response. Micha

Version 8 iMovie is not compatible with El Capitan, so you must upgrade to iMovie 10.1.2. To connect to the App Store and look under the purchased Tab. Find iMovie and Garage Band. If they are not there, it may be that the free updates are not available in iMovie 8. I'm not sure about this. They are free to version 9. You can also go to your account and make sure iMovie is not hidden.

Please suggest a way to update my iPhone.

    Hi benbencaro,

Thank you for bringing your problem of update for Apple Support communities. From your post, I gathered that you tried to update your iPhone 6 to 10 IOS through iTunes, but you can not. I have an iPhone 6 as well and I was very happy to upgrade to iOS 10. I'll be happy to help you with this.

iOS 10 requires iTunes version 12.5.1, which is available on Mac OS X versions 10.9.5 or later. You want to upgrade to El Capitan. Before the upgrade, it's always a good idea to save the Mac with Time Machine. The following items go on the means to backup and upgrade of Mac OS X.

Use Time Machine to back up or restore your Mac

Update of OS X El Capitan

Then, once you have upgraded to El Capitan, you will want to run the software updates from the Mac App Store. This ensures that you get the latest version of iTunes version 12.5.1 on your system.

Update the software on your Mac

Once you have set iTunes to update, connect your iPhone to your Mac and create a backup on iTunes (if you don't have one in iCloud) then you can upgrade to the new iOS 10.

The backup of your iPhone, iPad and iPod touch

    Have a great day!
