  I have a plethora of InDesign files containing a spot color called PMS 295 custom name. So that color can be mapped properly using our RIP it must have the correct 'PANTONE 295 C' name, but properly rename the source of the offending color has the potential to affect other work. I'm after a script that will do the correctly named color and then map the PMS 295 color to the correctly named color.

  For ONCE, I tried to do it myself, and I have the first part sorting! I can add the color of the document by using the following code:

  app.activeDocument.importAdobeSwatchbookSpotColor ("PANTONE 295 C");
  

  But do the PMS 295 card to this newly added color ink Manager made my head. It's possible the script?

  This isn't something I've ever done, but have you tried to set the property aliasInkName of the ink (in the collection document inks)?

  Something like:

  myInk = myDocument.inks.item ("PMS 295");

  myInk.aliasInkName = 'PANTONE 295 C';

  You can install and activate the perpetual software (purchased) two computers, as long as you don't use it on one at a time.
