  • El Capitan: runaway tmp file in/private/tmp

    Hello

    I have an iMAC (5K, 27 inches, end of 2015), 16 GB RAM, Core i5 (El Cap 10.11.6 running) and have had a problem with my boot drive fill even if I 308 GB of free space. After investigation, I found a temp file located in HD/private/tmp which appears immediately after the opening of session and which grows spontaneously - sometimes as much as 3 GB in a minute. Usually, the 308GB of free space, I started with that gets swallowed up in time. I also have another user with the same computer, but in executing Yosemite (10.10.5), who have the same symptoms.

    I use Outlook for MAC 2016 and the other user's MAC Mail for his e-mail client. I looked at this first just in case where the email could be the cause, because together we have E-mail ridiculously large stores, but I don't know yet why this just tmp file runs away as he does.

    Also, after reboot I get my space free return but also the tmp file and that it just starts to grow again. As a test, I started my computer but did not open ANY OTHER apps at all but one window Finder/private/tmp and then I sat down and watched - less than 10 minutes as tmp folder blown out to more than 20 GB and I never even touched the computer.

    Any ideas?

    Thank you

  • TMP files

    I have a two part question.  First with all programs, stop, I have a number of .tmp files which will not delete because "they are still used by a program" any ideas how solve it this problem?

    Second, while trying to delete, I changed the tmp for IE association in the world.  What is the normal binding for the tmp file?

    Hello

    1 TMP files in use is normal because many programs use this method if you do not remove the
    those in use unless you close this program.

    This ulitity to determine which has an open:

    -FREE - OpenedFilesView displays a list of all the open files on your system. For each file opened,
    additional information is displayed: handle value, read/write/delete access, position in the file, the process
    who has the file open and more...

    2. my. TMP are associated with WordPad, however they may even be associated with anything.

  • What information is there a tmp file

    Hello

    One of my tmp file has been detected as a threat, and my support of malware asked me to send them the file to see if it's a false positive.

    Anyone know what kind of information a tmp file?  I don't want to send anything that may contain sensitive information.

    The file is located in c:\Windows\Temp\, and it is named TMPxxxxx.  I have Windows XP, SP2.  Thank you very much.

    It is unclear what is in a temporary file - they are usually created by a program, or a process to temporarily store information.  Some virus and malware use for themselves in the store because temporary files are often overlooked by the scanning process.  Only you can decide if you need to send this file or not - if you are not comfortable with that, then don't.

  • How to clean all *.tmp files regularly?

    In the Solution Explorer window title, when I get *.tmp under specific directory and find a lot of tmp file. I would like to know how to clean all *.tmp files regularly, as the use of any build-in Tools window or the batch file, script powershell, nothing to do?

    Does anyone have any suggestions?
    Thanks in advance for your suggestions

    If there is no reason replacement why want to remove these I leave them

    1 appdata/local/temp can be deleted by right clicking and then delete.  It will not remove something if there is an associated application is open.

    2. I do not have this folder, so I let them

    3. these can also be removed by right-clicking (I just did)

    4 unknown

    If that can not be deleted, it is safe mode.

    I would recommend that you make a restore point before doing this

  • A lot. TMP files that accumulate in AppData > Local > Temp folder.

    I have a Windows 7 computer that is 7 weeks old. Last week, the computer slowed to a crawl.  I did a disk clean up when I noticed that my car had less than 10 GB free.  Who cleaned up 27 GB of space, but I have only 4 GB of documents.  I found 20 000 + files .tmp totalling 47 GB in size in user > name > AppData > local > temp.  Most are 200-300 MB in size.  What creates these files, and how can I prevent take them over from my system?

    I can't tell you what creates the tmp files, but here are a few
    General info on the topic: the temp folder has space to work for
    programs. Programs may create temporary files for their own
    temporary use. Each program must delete all of its temporary files when
    It closes, but for various reasons it is not always the case (for
    example, if the program crashes, it only ever to do so). That's why
    It's a good idea to periodically clean the what is left.

  • Windows 7 Sync Center *. TMP files, causing conflicts that need manual resolution when you work online

    I have the files offline of windows 7.  When online and a user opens and saves a file ms office puts Windows one. TMP file in the file sharing and syncing it becomes a conflict that needs a manual resolution.

    Is it possible to have Sync Center automatically fix these problems?  Avoid any conflict because a user has access to the file online.

    What happens is that the real files are in the cache of the local computer and save just the nightly backups the *. TMP files.

  • I changed the location of my TEMP and TMP files but now all my apps stopped working. How can I change them back.

    I changed the directory to my TEMP and TMP files but now my applications run with errors.

    I only changed the user variable for my user. I tried to change their return to C:\Windows\Temp, but that did not work.
    When I changed the initially I remember seeing something like %84266\Temp but I am not sure.  Should have written them down.
    If you could please tell me that how to find the variable that would be fantastic.
    Kind regards

    Here's the "Apple": System Restore.

    1. Keep, pressing F8 during startup.
    2. Start the machine in Repair Mode.
    3. Use system restore to set Windows to a point before you did the damage.
    4. In the future keep the detailed notes of all the changes.
  • Sandbox deny/private/var/tmp file-read-metadata

    Hello
    I have Berkeley DB 5.2.28.
    And I tried to use Berkeley DB on iOS 4.3.

    I have written;
    ...
    printf (stderr, 'db open - 1');

    RET = dbenv.open (strDBdir,
    DB_CREATE |
    DB_INIT_LOCK |
    DB_INIT_LOG |
    DB_INIT_MPOOL |
    DB_INIT_TXN |
    DB_THREAD |
    DB_RECOVER,
    S_IRUSR | S_IWUSR);

    printf (stderr, 'open db - 2');
    ...

    I run this app on iPod 4 (iOS 4.3), then in the menu xCode Organizer found a message: "sandbox [363] < reviews >: myapp (362) deny/private/var/tmp file-read-metadata", between "open the db - 1" and "open db - 2" "."

    How to solve it?
    Please, help me.
    Thank you.

    Hello

    I guess that you have correctly followed and built the BDB 5.2.28 for Apple iOS by following the guide for building Berkeley DB for UNIX/POSIX and specific notes for Apple iOS (iPhone OS).

    The error message you stated:

    sandbox [363] : myapp (362) deny/private/var/tmp file-read-metadata

    is not an error of the BDB layer, but rather the OS layer. It can point to insufficient privileges or rights (to write in this directory/private/var/tmp) or maybe a profile / access list control which is not properly configured to allow the user you use less to read the metadata and data from a file. for example, make sure that you have something like this in your sandbox profile:

    (allow file-write* file-read-data file-read-metadata
      (regex "^/path_to_BDB_environment__strDBdir")
      (regex "^(/private)?/var/tmp/")
      (regex "^(/private)?/tmp/"))

    If that is not enough then I suggest that you post on the Apple discussion forums.

    Kind regards
    Andrei

  • Dreamweaver 8, create tmp file not

    It seems that when an existing HTML page is updated a tmp file is created.  The name always begins with MFCxxxxx.tmp.  For some reason, he has ceased to work on my system, and when I save a modified file, the file is blown away, no longer exists in the file display.  I have to make a second BACKUP that allows me to save the file as a new file.  As the tmp file, name changes, every time tried to save made this must be a feature of dreamweaver. Anyone know how to get this feature to work?  I was not able to find an answer in the FAQ or support areas.

  • If I change my Firefox browser rather that Internet Explorer, I've always will have access to my files that were saved using IE? Please an answer non-techie.

    I received notice that my browser (IE) is obsolete and will be soon be unsupported. All of my files have been saved in Internet Explorer, and I'm afraid I won't be able to access it if I change to another browser, but I'll soon lose access to them in any case, I guess. Is this true? Do you have any suggestions? I am a person without a lot of tech knowledge please answer using the no-tech language.
    I may answer since my person tech is my daughter who may have questions or slower information.

    Thank you.

    Yes, you will still have access to your files even if they have been saved through IE.

  • I have a folder of files in local folders that keeps reappearing after that I erase it. I tried to fix the folder several times. Any suggestions?

    I have a folder of files in local folders that keeps reappearing after that I erase it. I tried to fix the folder several times. Any suggestions?

    This is the name of a folder? Who will be in a file name in your file system. Given his situation, is it possible or likely that the total path length exceeds the limit of the operating system?

    For example: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-gb/windows/file-names-extensions-faq#1TC=windows-7

    This is not to talk about any other limit which may be inherent in the way that Thunderbird uses names of files internally.

    In your position, I explore the Thunderbird profile and check paths, as they appear in the file manager. You should be able to remove all folders that are unwanted here also.

  • Can I recover my saving a .tmp file?

    I exported my file a .aif, but something in the process of glitched at the end and the file saved as .tmp instead of .aif. Then garageband crashed before I could save the .band file, so I lost all the tracks in the project. The .tmp file is pretty big so I figure it has the data, but I don't know if I can get it back. Any advice?

    In fact, I was able to open the file in quicktime format and then export a file .m4a from there. Is not ideal, but I managed to recover the file for the most part intact.

    I HAV already spent weekend on this issue. These bookmarks were all too important as those who have been saved during 4 years.

    You have not described what you've done until then I put standard procedures to follow. If there are problems please answer and provide some details. I'm assuming you have located the file bookmarks.json & don't know what to do with it.

    Depending on the version of FF are you using

    • In 3.* * Select organize bookmarks
    • 4. choose show all bookmarks

    Select the menu import and backup at the top of the bookmarks/library window

    Select restore - there may be a selection of dates;
    at the bottom of the list, there will be an option to choose a file...
    Click on that and for which you have registered your JSON file.
    Select this file.
