What information is there a tmp file

Hello

One of my tmp file has been detected as a threat, and my support of malware asked me to send them the file to see if it's a false positive.

Anyone know what kind of information a tmp file?  I don't want to send anything that may contain sensitive information.

The file is located in c:\Windows\Temp\, and it is named TMPxxxxx.  I have Windows XP, SP2.  Thank you very much.

It is unclear what is in a temporary file - they are usually created by a program, or a process to temporarily store information.  Some virus and malware use for themselves in the store because temporary files are often overlooked by the scanning process.  Only you can decide if you need to send this file or not - if you are not comfortable with that, then don't.

  • What happens when there is a conflict between settings stored in the metadata file and catalogue of development?

    Hello

I was wondering if someone could quickly help me in understanding how the development parameters are read in lightroom... (I use lightroom 3.6) that I just had a little bit of panic that my lack of understanding of the system could have missed a bit!

As I do all my image DIY on a laptop with a small disc, I am often archiving of directories of images to an old server, we have, and then just get on my laptop whenever I need it again. I have a single on my laptop lightroom catalog, and I thought (now I think wrongly!) that all my settings updated is stored only in the catalog of lightroom on my development laptop and so I kept a copy of the original jpeg images hit somewhere so that I could bring my laptop when needed, I could always go back to the version most recently published of my images. Often, I copied an images directory from the server to the laptop, retouched with lightroom, then deleted the jpgs of the laptop thinking that the originals left on the server would be sufficient to restore my work later.

But recently just before the deletion of a lot of JPGs of the laptop, I did a quick comparison with the server and is horrified realize that the files if it is different, and that changes * are * written in jpeg files! Research in lightroom I have the 'include develop settings in metadata in JPEGs [etc.]' lit.

    My questions would be:

1 have I lost their jobs by effectively removing metadata from jpeg files or is also preserved in the catalog?

2 What if some develop settings of an image are stored in the catalog, and a completely different set of development settings have been stored in the file - which should be a priority?

    3. have I screwed up, and if so is there anything I can do to minimize the damage? : {

Thank you very much for all the advice!

1 Lightroom ALWAYS stores the changes in its catalog file.

2 Lightroom ALWAYS uses changes in the catalog file. The information stored in the JPG file are NEVER used to display the image in Lightroom.

    3. as long as you do not remove the photo from the catalogue, you are well, your changes are present in the file catalog and Lightroom can use those to display the image.

As I do all my image DIY on a laptop with a small disc, I am often archiving of directories of images to an old server, we have, and then just get on my laptop whenever I need it again.

If you moved the server, using Lightroom (or photos using Adobe Lightroom - find folders and files moved or missing), there is no need to bring your laptop. You can leave photos on the server and access the server and everything works fine

I want to burn files to a cd, there are two files, one is 8.1 GB and the other is 3.5 GB, what capacity of CD should I buy to take account of these files, or is there any method I can use?

First of all, you cannot use a CD for each file - they do not provide enough space (and I'm pretty sure same compression help not enough).

You can burn the 3.5 GB on DVD or DVD-R DVD - RW file, as long as it's a guy with enough space http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DVD.

8.1 GB file CAN be turned into a DVD, but you need a very special type (and maybe special software - I'm not sure about this).  An article on the different types of DVDs and their abilities of here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DVD.

There are a few 3rd party software products that allow you to split a large file inot several pieces to fit on a game sequenced CD, but I couldn't find one that was free.  To do this, you can check on www.download.com, www.tucows.com, Bing, and Google.

    I hope this helps.

    Good luck!

I don't know what they are. What are in?

Basically, you can delete all the .tmp files. Note, however, that
Although 102,000,000 may seem like a large number, it's actually a
small amount of disk space. These days, where you can buy a 250 GB hard
drive for about US $50, 102MB is about 2 cents worth.

  • Apple Mail - Message could not be moved to the mailbox because there is no file

I'm trying to move messages between two folders "on my mac" and the following error: "Messages could not be moved to the mailbox" various - on my Mac "file '... emlx" could not be opened because there is no file.»

In addition to the background: I'm trying to migrate Mail from one macbook to another, I did it manually because I did not put through everything. The Setup program on the Mac source is as follows:

    -An IMAP account.

-Some local folders "on my Mac" which I use to archive, I do this every year once a year dragging old emails from the IMAP folders to the folders the.

To migrate and I did the following:

-A taken the mac source offline, exported the folder root "on my Mac" containing the tree of files, I used for archiving, it is about 800MB in size is nothing too crazy.

-On the new Macbook, I manually add the existing IMAP account. This part works fine.

-Then I import the exported archive folders.

I'm back and restarted it several times, it really does not seem to play nice. The first time that the files of enacting it very well, but it would not let me move messages between IMAP folders to the imported files (which were local). So I thought I would create new local folders, which I can move messages to IMAP folders. Thus, the plan was to import the messages (which appear in an 'Import' folder) but when I try to move messages between folders imported records the newly created I get the error message described at the beginning of my message.

Ready to try other things, happy to provide additional information. Thanks for your suggestions on the error in advance.

After validation, this I came across another independent message that says to 'rebuild' the mailboxes. I found that if I "rebuild" option on the source (as in what was recently imported) folder, it would allow me to copy to other folders the newly created. If I just manually 'rebuild' for each of the newly imported files.

No idea why this should be done on freshly imported files, but seemed to allow me to go beyond this issue anyway, just update on this in case it helps anyone.

  • I have the file under owner/Local Settings / temp which fills up as soon as I move everything to the trash. There now 2743 files it contains. How can I stop this?

What is this file: owner/local settings/temp, it fills as soon as I put everything in the trash.  At the moment there are 2743 files it contains.

    Hello

Temporary files are created by Windows that remain on the hard disk due to an irregular output of a Windows session.

Some programs create temporary files and then leave them - they do not delete. This can happen because the program crashed or the developer of the program simply forgot to add the necessary code to delete the temporary files after the program is done with them. Temporary files left by the programs accumulate over time and can take up a lot of disk space.

You can delete temporary files from the computer to improve the performance of the computer. Follow the article to the same thing:

    Using disk cleanup

Thank you in advance for answering.

I agree with your decision to take your computer in a store.  See my comment in your other thread.

Original title, most of the things you call "office programs" are the "shortcuts".  This means that these icons are not actually programs but just pointers to the location where the actual programs (files named xxx.exe).  That's why the icons have this small blue arrow, which means they "point" to something else.  In Windows 7, programs are usually found in C:\Program Files (x 86) or C:\Program Files.

I have completed the first two sections for you.  The rest is pretty much the same.  'The folder path' describes the location on the hard disk where the file is located.

Files in the same folder cannot have the same name.  Files in different folders can have the same name.  However, by default, Windows doesn't show you the part 'extension' of the name of the file (the 3 or 4 letters after the dot.  For example, all the shortcuts have a LNK extension.  If you do not see the extension of letter 3 or 4, you may think that there are two files with the same name in a single folder, but in fact they can be different files due to their extensions.

To see the file extensions, open Windows Explorer (the file manager, not Internet Explorer, which is a web browser) and click on tools, then click on "Folder Options" and then select the "View" tab  Scroll down to "Hide extensions for known file types", clear the check box, and then click OK.
