I have a red badge with no message on my iPhone 6 s.  The badge is on the phone since the last version of the software up to date.  How can this problem be solved?

I have an iPhone with iOS 9.3.1 6s system.  Once the updated software has been installed, a point red (message notification) remained on no message on the lock screen and the messages screen.  How can I turn off the message alert/badge?

Try resetting the iPhone.  Hold the home and on / off buttons together for 10 seconds until the Apple logo appears.
