Hi mapo1477,
1. do you get an error at startup of the system?
2 have you tried to start the computer in safe mode?If you do not get any error message, then we recommend you to start your computer in safe mode and check if it starts successfully on the desktop. If it starts in safe mode, and then restore the computer. To do this, try the following steps:
a. see the description of the options course in Windows XP Startup Mode
b. Once you have started your computer in safe mode, restore the computer.
See How to restore Windows XP to a previous state

I have Photoshop CS3, how do I upgrade to CS5 (or same-CS6)?
As I say in the title, I have Photoshop CS3 and I heard that you could switch to CS5 or CS6 this version. I looked online and I can't find anything, the links are broken or they lead me to an irrelevant page.
If anyone has any idea please help me!
P.S., the hoops, you have to cross just to ask this question... I'm quite lost.
Thank you very much for your help!
Chloe
EDIT: I use a Windows computer, or said by the way. Windows 8.
There are more no update since CS3 for all future versions of Photoshop. CS3 is too old to qualify.
As an owner of CS3, you can however get a monthly discount for the Cloud version. The discount lasts 12 months. Then it's back to the regular monthly fee.

I rebuilt a laptop from scratch using XP Home. Currently, no software beyond basic MS core apps. Not even MS Office. I am trying to activate the automatic updates.
The error messages that I get point to Windows Installer and/or MS Download Manager, but these same problems prevent me from deleting/updating install or Download Manager.
If I run FixIt to activate the automatic updates to download SP3, the following error message is returned:
_Windows Installer_
The Windows Installer Service could not be accessed.
This can occur if Windows Installer is not correctly
installed. Contact your support team.If I try to manually download the SP3 (WindowsXP-KB936929-SP3 - x 86 - ENU.exe), the following error is returned:
_Microsoft download Manager_
There was a problem opennig the Microsoft Download Manager.
Update your computer with Windows Service Pack 2 or later version to download
files using the Microsoft Download Manager.I think I'll through in circles. I need SP3 for automatic updates, but impossible to install SP3 since SP3 is not installed. I must be missing something obvious, but I simply cannot get by. I'd appreciate any help - thanks.
OK, I followed the link clicked on download, saved on my desktop, then tried to start the installation. The returned message is:
It is often the result of a corrupted download. Please restart the download. If this fails, you can try download with another browser such as Firefox or Chrome?
Another possibility is malware that you have scanned with your preferred 'egi' software?

I have Windows 7 Edition home premium installed 32-bit update. How can I upgrade to 64-bit? Will there be problems of validation so I re-install from scratch?
If you have purchased a retail package, it should include the disk for Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. Otherwise, you can download a backup copy at the following link and use the same product key that allows you to enable the 32-bit version. Its a possibility, you may need to reactivate by phone, see below for instructions:
You will need to do a clean install, there is no place on the way to upgrade Windows 7 32 bit to 64 bit.
Using the disk of 64-bit Windows 7, install Windows 7 Windows Easy Transfer Utility from the DVD (to find it, simply navigate to x:\support\migwiz, "x:" is the name of your hard drive. (In this case, you will see a collection of files, the important"that you must search for and double-click is 'migsetup'.) run it and create a DAMP (Windows Easy Transfer file), if you have an external hard drive, you can access it later when you perform a clean install of Windows 7 64-bit disk so you can stored there.
Once you have done this, just do a clean install of Windows 7 64 bit disc. In Windows 7 64 bit disk, start Windows Easy Transfer, follow the wizard screen, tap on which is stored the WET file (external hard drive) and it will restore your personal files and settings. Reinstall the applications needed.

How to activate Windows 7 manually (activate by phone)
1) click Start and in the search for box type: slui.exe 4
(2) press the ENTER"" key.
(3) select your "country" in the list.
(4) choose the option "activate phone".
(5) stay on the phone (do not select/press all options) and wait for a person to help you with the activation.
(6) explain your problem clearly to the support person.

The ACR and DNG Converter store their profiles in the same folder. If you have recently uninstalled the DNG Converter, maybe he deleted all of the profiles? You could put them back by reinstalling the DNG Converter 9.1, which is available on the Adobe updates page:

XP Professional SP2 fails to upgrade to SP3
I need help. I'm trying to upgrade my Windows XP Professional with Service Pack 2 computer to Service Pack 3. I tried three different methods to upgrade, but all have failed, each with its own unique error. Here is what I tried:
Windows Update: I have just a simple message: "the following components could not be installed: Windows XP Service Pack 3 (KB936929).
Microsoft Download Center (ie: offline installation manual): the moment I opened the EXE file, I get this message: "Extraction failed: file is corrupt." This affects that regular and even the controlled version. Windows also identifies the file as having an invalid signature.
ISO file: There is also a version on CD-ROM to upgrade to SP3. The first time I tried it, I got this message: "Setup could not copy the file shell32.dl_." The second time, I get a message "Setup could not copy the file ati2mtag.sy_." Because installation can not continue without these copied files, I had no choice but to give up and roll back to SP2. Strangely, there is an option to uninstall SP3 from the Control Panel Add/Remove programs. When I used it, the uninstall program hung on "Catalogs of restoration", where I was forced to make a stop of the force. Now my CD/DVD player may not work when Windows XP is used. There's work, however, during boot time. So I know my drive CD/DVD is not defective.
No matter what method I use, Windows XP Service Pack 3 still not able to install correctly. I need installed SP3 because there are two programs that I use called VOB2MPG and Adobe Photoshop. These programs will not work with SP2; I have installed SP3.
The computer I use is a Dell Dimension 2400. Method of installation of Windows is done by the CD/DVD drive.
How can I upgrade to Windows XP SP3?
It is not an HP computer. It's a Dell Dimension 2400. Let me to you a link to his page drivers and downloads, it should have an image of the computer: http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/19
My computer BIOS is A05, and this is the final version of this computer. Updates for my computer has since been abandoned.
How about I rephrase the question differently: if I install a pirated version of XP with SP3 and Windows asks me to validate subsequently, can I use my valid product key? I have now this thinking that my XP CD has some nasty bugs.
No need to restate the question - the answer must be the same here. If you are using a pirated version of WIndows you don't know what you found actually. Things * might * have been changed at this level - leaving you permanently "tapped" essentially.
Integrate Windows XP Service Pack 3 into your original/actual installation CD and install use.
