  • How to add a new "recommended site" to your search engine in Windows 7 operating system? Or replace?

After update of existing Firefox, I lost very good 'photos - small windows' representing my frequently visited sites. A new version looks perfect with the exception of:
    (a) no my "old sites."
    (b) problems with too many toolbars etc taking up too much space on the top of your screen/window.
I found instead of simple short names under the search field that could replace the previous list / default of recommended sites.
    Thanks in advance.

  • After that "Refresh Firefox" was finished, I lost all the tabs I would be implemented in my search engine Duckduckgo - how to restore all tabs?

I used "Refresh Firefox" because for the past 2 weeks, I suddenly had to download all PDFs, save them, and then go to saved to open the PDF file. After severa pages on Mozilla's Support site, l I thought "Refresh Firefox" would help. Now I can choose Duckduckgo as my search engine in Firefox, but have lost all tabs (history, bookmarks, etc.). FYI: I have Windows 7 on this laptop. I have no other computers.
Thank you - hope you can help.

Hi, I think you're talking to the menu bar. If so, right click on the bar of tabs (but not on a tab) and graduation/check bar menu.

Other buttons can be found in the 3 menu bar > customize, drag a toolbar to the location of your choice, > exit customize to save.

If your question is resolved by this or another answer, please take a minute to let us know. Thank you.

  • tried to change search engines in firefox 34 and lost all of them and could not get back them, was finally back to version 33. how to fix this problem

I didn't have Yahoo as my default search engine. I want to be able to choose as always. When I clicked on a different search engine I've lost all the features of the search bar and it became white. I, ve returned to 33 until I can get a fix for the problem. I would appreciate your help.

If you want to restore the window previously used independently to manage search engines, you can enable or disable this pref to false with a medium on the subject click: config page.

Subject: config page: browser.search.showOneOffButtons = false

You will need to close and restart Firefox to make it work properly.

In the address bar, type Subject: preferences #search < enter >

If you miss to spend from the search engines without going
    Crazy with menus, try this

    Context search {web link}
Develops the context menu item 'Search' in a list of
installed search engines, allowing you to choose the engine
you want to use for each search.

  • How can I choose the default search engine in the address window?

You explain how to change the 'address bar' default search engine at the top right. I want to know how to change the search engine in the address at the top window to the left. Currently, if I type in an address not recognized, my ISP search engine will appear. I'd rather have the search engine of Google or Bing when I make a mistake of addressing.

You can have an ISP that automatically redirects you to a search page if a DNS search fails.

Who takes control of Firefox to search with the normal keyword like a Google, I'm lucky search.

In this case, you will need to contact your ISP and ask for a DNS to opt-out of this feature.

You can also check if there is a link on the search results page to go to your ISP and opt-out.

I had my windows crash, but was able to restore with built-in software. One of the problems I was with was that all my default search in the search bar engine have been replaced by three (which no do I had previous) food, IMdB, and SiteAdvisor. When I checked your forum there is a similar question to mine, but I was unable to understand the answer. I already upgraded 16 ff. something to 18.0.2, hoping that this would solve the problem, but it didn't. I don't want to uninstall and reinstall as I fear, that I lose all my favorites etc. I can do my research on the web pages of Google and Yahoo, but the search bar has been should be much more. Thanks for any help

You always see all search engines xml files in the searchplugins folder in the Firefox program folder?

    • (32-bit Windows) C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\
    • (Windows 64 bit) C:\Program Files (x 86) \Mozilla Firefox\

If the default search engines are missing it then you need to reinstall Firefox.

You can try to delete the search.json file and a possible search.sqlite in the Firefox profile folder.

You can use this button to go to the Firefox profile folder:

  • How can I block ever (evar, evar...) BING becomes the search engine (evar) when I type the words in the main browser window.

This came out just today. My SOP is to type words and phrases in the main window of the mini and get google search results. I started having Bing searches. Horrors. I don't want to type in the mini window search bar. I definitely want to thing another block of google searches. If I wanted to BING for a reason, I'd go to bing.com and search there. But I won't.

You may have installed free software or an extension that is set to the Bing search engine.

On the one hand, you cannot uninstall Safari.  It comes as part of the operating system.  So, I don't know what you've done or what you think you did, but this is not that.  Could you explain more by what you mean with "I get reimage opening in a new window?  You can post a screenshot of what happens?

    Uninstall Uniblue Powersuite.

    Search for malware:

Download, install, execute, update and perform analyses complete system with the two following applications:

Remove anything they find. Reboot when necessary. (You can uninstall one or both when finished.)

Search online with eSet Online Scanner.  Remove everything it finds.

    Reset.

This may not fix the result, but it will eliminate what has probably caused (as well as the riders who came with her.)

  • New search engine Windows crashes whenever I try to use it.

This is the first time I had to use the new Windows search engine. It should be installed automatically. Now, every time that I open it and try to get whatever it is, it crashes and wants to report to Microsoft. What can I do? Is it possible to restore the previous search engine, or is there a fix they pulled out? I need to find something on my system.

    Thank you.

I assume you mean Windows Search 4, a repellent piece of software. Uninstall it and then install it again. Change your settings for Windows Automatic Update for "download and notify me when updates are ready ' so you can watch what you first install.

You can usually uninstall Windows Search of add/remove programs. MS - MVP - Elephant Boy computers - don't panic!
