  • Presario CQ5720F: Changed the motherboard, need original key from windows 7 to get my replacement windows 10 key

Hi there, I don't know if I'll have some luck with this question, because my computer is a few years old. A few months ago I asked a friend to help me to update my old computer, which he did, but it seems to cause problems with my OS. I believe that my machine originally supplied with Windows 7 on it, and I was updated for Windows 10 a little so that before all this. So long story short, my friend updated my PC successfully, but when he was done my version of Windows 10 now shows the text "Activate Windows" on the lower right.  I was told that it was because my internal hardware had been changed, but when I contacted Microsoft to get a new key, they needed my original key of Windows 7 so that they give me a free replacement key Windows 10.

I doubt that I'll be able to get assistance to get a new key for this machine, as it seems that all official support, I tried to get all of lead them to dead ends. I'd appreciate help on the question if this means that I can save my money and not end up having to buy a new key for Windows 10.

The computer (your desktop, right) provided with Windows 7 Home Premium. There was a sticker key Code on the case. What happened to him?

  • Classic mode by using the Alt + Tab - needs to get the active window

I'm running Win7 Ultimate mode classic (the aero mode was just too much visual noise) and for years, I used the Alt + Tab to switch between applications. Starting with Vista, the content of the Alt + Tab pop-up window sorts and does not retain the positions she had in XP. Y at - it all the settings that I can change to get the unsorted window XP. With sorting darn, I'm looking for 'the' the window, I want to bring to the fore. I almost always several applications running (10-20) and several windows in each application, so it is not uncommon that I'll have 30-50 windows open when I'm researching a topic and try to create a document or a presentation on the topic.

    Hey jgt,

Here is a workaround to get the classic Alt + Tab bar.

    1. open the Explorer Windows & a few applications so that you can start using Alt + Tab feature.
    2. press Alt + Tab keys to display the keys Alt + Tab bar.
    3. without releasing the keys, press another Alt key once and release the second ALT.

Note: Do not release Alt + Tab again.

    4. now, press the Tab key to see the classic Alt + Tab bar.

Note: You will need to repeat this procedure each time you want the feature back.
If you are comfortable with the registry, you can disable the Aero Alt Tab permanently.

If you are comfortable with the registry, you can disable the Aero Alt Tab permanently.

Important: This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. For more information about how to back up and restore the registry, click the following windows Help article.

    Back up the registry
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/back-up-the-registry

To get the classic Alt Tab functionality in Windows 7 the Registry Editor:

    1. go to start, type regedit and press ENTER.
    2. go to the location following HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer
    3. in the right pane, create a new DWORD AltTabSettings and set its value to 1.
    4. now, whenever you you press the keys "Alt + Tab" together, he'll show Windows XP style classic screen Switcher "Alt + Tab" rather than the new screen.
    5. to restore the default active Aero Switcher "Alt + Tab" screen, simply delete the DWORD AltTabSettings, created in step 3. Log out and sign in again to take effect.

    Hope that solves your problem.

    Kind regards

  • I need to get rid of windows 8.

I bought a HP Pavilion all-in-one Windows 8, not a touch screen.  I hate windows 8.  I'm a typist.  I spend more time trying to find/load a program that I'm using a program.  I don't like these tiles running all the time.  My computer is slower than my OLD Vista I had before this one.  Can I get rid of windows 8 and install windows 7 without all these tiles?  I'm NOT a gamer, do not load the music or videos, not on social media other than email.  I want to just do my job and not be disturbed by this thing to know. HELP me before I throw this expensive useless computer at the door.

My real opinion: the system back and get one with Windows 7 pre-installed.  Yes.  They exist.

    Otherwise...

Make sure that the manufacturer supports the system in question with Windows 7 (with drivers and software download for Windows 7).

    Get (probably buy) Windows 7.

    Install Windows 7.

Install Windows 7 drivers for the hardware.

Install all the software you need / use it.

    Update, patch, etc.

    Use.

  • Hard drive of my computer Acer failed and I need to get media for Windows Vista. Where can I get?

Hard drive of my Acer computer has failed... blah!

Hard drive of my Acer computer has crashed.  Acer will not give me the Microsoft Vista software to use with the new hard drive, I need to have installed (my computer is 4 years old, and Acer said that he was in front of a 3-year window...), and there was never any instructions to create recovery disks (of course, I discovered that these recovery disks do not work in all cases).  I am reluctant to spend another $200 for another (! *!) Vista disc.  I already had to replace the power supply and memory on this Acer upgrade.

    What are my options?

You can buy a 'Full Version' edition of Windows 7 to Windows 7 from the Microsoft Store.

  • After changing hard drives, I get an error message that says: I need a full version disc windows genuine

Original title: replacement hard drive configuration issue

My hard drive crashed and I can't access anything anyone on this subject. I have a second hard drive that was used for additional storage only. I'm doing this second walk my master drive. After changing the cables, jumpers, the bios settings to show as the master I am using the Windows XP disk, I try to put in place. I get an error message that says: I need a full version disc windows genuine, not a disc to upgrade to. When I bought the computer it came with Windows ME preinstalled and there was no disk that came with the machine. When I went to XP apparently, I bought a version upgrade, not the full version. Is it possible to get a cd of microsoft, or download a file, which can help get this another hard drive mounting correctly?

    Thank you

  • I was hoping to get a replacement drive Microsoft's Windows XP. Is there any hope to do this?

I bought my computer several years ago and managed to lose my disc that came with my computer. I'm pretty positive it's Windows XP Home Edition, or simply... the credits XP that was on it. ANYWAY. Things that happened and I need to reformat, but I had no disc, I found myself the recruitment of a former hacker friend who has installed an illegal copy of Windows Professional on my computer. BUT. I was hoping to get a replacement for my Windows disk. Is there any hope to do this? Or I have to buy a full version off eBay or something?

No MS, because XP is long gone. If it came with your computer, you must check with the MFR computer, to see if they have any ideas. They are the ones that have been initially responsible for OEM software.

I have to rebuild my laptop.

    Hello

No - what are the two Acers come with a recovery disk?

If this is not the case, one of them would have a recovery partion, which specifically is to reinstall the operating system on it.

With an Acer, you press Alt + F10 at startup to start the recovery process.

All data are lost when you do the above.

And for the lost disc, contact Acer and ask them to send you recovery disks.

They do that for a small fee:

    http://us-store.Acer.com/RCD/

Some manufacturers have more available Vista recovery disks.

If this happens, you may need to try this instead:

You can also borrow and use a Microsoft Vista DVD, which contains the files for the different editions of Vista (Home Basic, Home Premium, Business and Ultimate) must be installed. The product key on your computer / Laptop box determines what Edition is installed.

Other manufacturers recovery DVDs are should not be used for this purpose.

And you need to know the version of 'bit' for Vista, as 32-bit and 64-bit editions come on different DVDs

Here's how to do a clean install of Vista using a DVD of Vista from Microsoft:

"How to do a clean install and configure with a full Version of Vista '

    http://www.Vistax64.com/tutorials/117366-clean-install-full-version-Vista.html

And phone Activation may be necessary when you use the above installation method.

  • I lost my Windows Vista installation disc, but retain the product code, where can I get a replacement disk?

It has been a while since I have Vista and I had it installed on pc crashed, so now I need to reinstall Windows on it. I still have the product key, but I lost the installation disk and I wonder where I could get a replacement drive.

Call the manufacturer of your computer.

    1. ask a set of recovery disks. The cost is minimal and it is money well spent.
    2. at the same time, ask to speak to a technician. Ask the person to teach you how to access the recovery of the computer partition and how to use it to restore your computer.

None of the foregoing need by using your product key.

What is the certificate of authenticity for Windows?

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/what-is-the-Windows-certificate-of-authenticity

For 5 years, Microsoft made it fairly easy for users of the Windows 7 operating system to get reinstall media. If you have lost your support disc or installation retail collection; either it has been damaged or defective; You can download a copy of the edition that you have licensed from a membership site called Digital River. More recently, Microsoft ended the availability to reinstall media that you can download as a. File ISO in Digital River, which is a digital reproduction of an optical disc.

It was particularly convenient for people who could not easily get the manufacturer's recovery media, did not want to pay the fees required to get or preferred a clean configuration without the software packaged manufacturers or even a recovery partition does not work. It's easy to use, all you had to do was reinstall and reactivate using the product key located on the certificate of authenticity and download all the drivers on the manufacturers website.

Given that this option is no longer available, what are your options? See the article for more details:
