I need to install the SP1 for Vista, but get message at the stage of installing "updates are not configured correctly. Change back '

I need to install the SP1 for vista before SP2 for vista in order to use 2012 TrendMicro internet security. Thanks in advance

Original title: Hi can someone help me please.  I need to install the SP1 for vista, but get this message at the stage of installing "updates are not configured correctly. How can change recovery"I fix

I understand that you now have returned back to factory settings and have installed all updates except for service packs.

.

You will need to install the required service packs-

How to get the latest Vista Service Pack
http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/935791

Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008 service Pack is not available for installation via Windows Update
http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/948343

You will need to install SP1 before installing Sp2.

Once your computer is up to date, then you can think of Windows 7

http://www.Microsoft.com/en-US/Download/details.aspx?ID=20

I can't help you with the trend, but from memory, you must allow it's Installer to download to facilitate the download and installation etc.

Windows Update initially reported two updates correctly installed and asks me to restart the PC, what I'm doing. Before the connection at the reboot prompt, I get a message saying "updates are not configured correctly. Restoration of the changes. It is the next messages saying: step 1/2/3 of 3 0% complete.

Am unable to get windows to start, get this message over and over again.  I tried restoring the system on CD in the previous point but did not work. Would appreciate any help.  Thank you

Try a startup repair if you have the Vista DVD.

If no DVD of Vista, try this:

Download the ISO on the provided link and do a repair of the disc.

Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.

At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu.

When you have changed that, insert the Bootable disk you did in the drive and reboot.

You can make a tool to restart system, System Restore, etc. with it.

Read all the info on the website on how to create and use it.

You MUST uninstall the trial for free and download/run the removal tool products McAfee Consumer before you install updates, Windows Service Packs or IE upgrades and before installing your new antivirus application (for example, Microsoft Security Essentials; free).

If these procedures look too complex - and there is no shame in admitting this isn't your cup of tea - take the machine to a local, good reputation and stand-alone computer (that is, not BigBoxStoreUSA or Geek Squad) repair facility.

  • The service "wuauserv" (automatic updates) does not work correctly

The service 'wuauserv' uses constantly between 88 and 95% of my CPU, slowing down my computer to the point that it is almost unusable, so I've been suspending or disabling the process 'wuauserv' every time I use my computer.

In addition, Windows Update does not, if "wuauserv" is suspended or not.
It prevents just check the latest updates and never stops to do that no matter how long wait.

Well, I managed to solve the problem.

I followed the instructions on this page: http://workingscripts.blogspot.com/2008/05/windows-update-high-cpu-usage-fix.html

Immediately after that, Windows Update and the automatic updates service finally started working again. It has been almost two weeks since I fixed it and have not had a problem since.

I didn't format the hard drive and do a clean install of Windows XP for this problem - I have never done this because it does not seem necessary.

And I do not see how this relatively recent automatic updates problem never touched my other problem Installation of Internet Explorer years discussed in my other thread.
