  I can't answer that question, but I can say that CS5 is is no longer being updated for the new hardware and operating systems, so as far as I know, if you buy an external with the same kind of screen 'High definition' monitor you have now, you will have the same problem

  Of course you can upgrade to El Capitan. But I think better if you can change the internal hard drive (SATA drive) in the SSD drive. You will get better results, faster than still, you only have 4 GB. This is mine... MacBook pro in early 2011.

  Yes. Find LR catalog file in Edit/settings/general catalogue. Close LR and go to this place. The catalog file is one that ends by .lrcat - move it where you want. Beside the .lrcat file is a subfolder called Previews.lrdata. You can move, but if you don't not LR will generate new insights.   I had the same problem - could not believe my eyes on how horrible and blurry Flash Builder looked on my new Macbook Pro w retina.  Through she had suffered since last week and have just discovered this work around that someone figured out for Eclipse that also works on Flash Builder (guess b/c it is built on Eclipse).  Here is the link to the bug report that shows the work around (thanks to Brad Hudgeons):

  Here is a cut and paste from the bug report in the case of the above url is deleted:

  Here's the workaround:  Do "Show package contents" on the Eclipse.app.  Edit Contents/Info.plist.  Just above     Place this:  NSHighResolutionCapable 
  

  Instead of Eclipse, display the contents of the package on Adobe Flash Builder 4.6.app.   After you change the Info.plist file, go to the Adobe Flash Builder 4.6.app and reproduce.  It will create an Adobe Flash Builder 4.6 copy.app.  Delete your original Adobe Flash Builder 4.6 and rename the Adobe Flash Builder 4.6 Adobe Flash Builder 4.6.app copy.app.  Then launch Flash Builder - you should see the text which is much clearer.  The graphics on the user interface are still unclear but at least the text should be crispy.

  If 10 + million Macbook Pro have been produced with these chipsets in 2011/12, if it's only a tiny fraction who suffers actually total ventilation - all online writing is negative - no one does not write when their machine works.

  Only Apple has statistics that would give any valid information on the magnitude of this problem.  For what it's worth, the program was extended until the end of the year.
