I tried everything suggested to get rid of the search page "open a new tab".
I just bought a new computer with Windows7. I downloaded and installed Firefox 18.0.1 a week ago.
I try to get the historical icon page to open when I click on "open a new tab".
Some of the things I've tried (as reset Firefox and install the add-on) worked but only until I stop.
When I load Firefox again, this pesky search page ("open a new tab") is back.
How can I get the icon history page to remain permanently on the day the day?
If your manual changes don't "stick" after a restart of the browser, please look out for suspicious extensions (such as 3 rd-party-toolbars or of things that you have not intentionally installed) currently installed under firefox/tools > addons > extensions or section of windows control panel programs and remove these entries.
in the case, it does not resolve the issue please, try this: go to firefox > help > troubleshooting information > profile folder - "view folder", then a new window will open. in this search on a file named user.js window (it can be used to overwrite your custom settings). where it is present, delete or rename this file and then restart firefox.

How can I get rid of Yahoo when I open a new tab?
My homepage is set to Firefox, but when I open a new tab, the tab is not Firefox with all of my most visited sites! It's Yahoo.
You can check the suspicious extensions or recently installed unknowns.
Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/tools > Modules > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is the cause of the problem.
- Put yourself in the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/tools > Modules > appearance
- Do NOT click on the reset button on the startup window Mode safe

Search took over my home page and the search page.
I understand that it is a malicious virus that is designed to send a lot of adds invade the PC and check out personal details.I accidentally installed this while working on wordpress.
I have received several warnings that I need this update.
When I clicked on the page, I received a certificate of Norton who verified that it was safe.I uninstalled in the list of programs to uninstall programs.
Any help would be appreciated.
If you get a pop-up message asking to update Firefox or plugins then this message is probably a scam and you should never respond to such reporting to avoid being infected by malware.
- Don't update Firefox via "> about" or by downloading and installing Firefox from Mozilla and server never using a popup or a link on a web page.
- Plugins should be updated only through the plugin itself, or by visiting the home page of the plugin.
You can also do a check of malware with several digitization programs of malicious software on the Windows computer.
Please scan with all programs, because each program detects a different malicious program.
All of these programs have free versions.Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before scanning.

After that I did a search on Google, the site is there with my other frequently used sites. Once I have selected the site I want to get rid of, I click on the star of the address and select Delete bookmark and then finished. Nothing happens. I want to get rid of these sites I access only once and no longer need.
It is not a bookmark, it is a history entry. Here are two ways to remove things from a more selectively than the feature clear recent history:
- Arrow down for access to the auto-suggest list address bar and press the delete key. Note that the URL is displayed in the address bar until you go up or down arrow again, but history entry will be deleted to appear on the menu drop down.
- Use the Library dialog box (menu history > show history)

What security (firewall, antivirus) software do you have?
Has she any virtualization or sandbox features? You can try to start windows in save mode (F8 at the startup screen) to see if this helps to remove the file.
You can also try a new profile to see if it works.
See "basic troubleshooting: a new profile:If this new profile works then you can transfer files from the old profile to the new profile, but make sure not to copy corrupted files.

Hello, Web sites can define that the browser should not record passwords in their source code, see usernames and passwords are not saved

How can I get rid of the Search tab news that opens now?

Try to use the extension SearchReset reset preferences to default values.
Note that the SearchReset extension runs only once and then uninstalls automatically, so it will not appear on the page "> Firefox Add-ons" (topic: addons).
