  If you're talking about XP Mode the default password is XPMUser.  In general you can not use Windows without a password in Windows Virtual PC that you can with Virtual PC 2007 and before.  XPMUser is used only with the XP Mode virtual machine.  All other virtual machines requires a user created password.  If you have changed the password in XP Mode and forgotten, then you have to start over.

  Windows Virtual PC is based on virtual server rather than VPC and all virtual machines need a password.  If necessary, uninstall the integration features, start the virtual machine and create a password for the admin user.  Restart the virtual machine, and then reinstall the integration features.  You will not be able to access a virtual machine created by the user that has no password, while the integration features are installed.  Once you have everything right, that a virtual machine will not be asked a password if you are the admin user in Windows 7.

My spooler file got corrupted and I need to know what that the stamp of date/time on the latest version of the file: spoolsv.exe. I did a search on my hard drive and found 8 copies of the file with 7 different dates. I need to know which copy in my file C:\windows\system32\. I suspect that the problem was caused by some kind of malware. I think that some of the different versions on my machine of the initial installation of the Vista, SP1 and SP2. 3 copies that would explain. I tried all the suggestions in this forum and several others. I tried sfc/scannow and it simply replaces the corrupted file by another. I understand how works this file and a simple copy will do the trick if I knew that the file to use. I know that I don't want to go back to the first version of 2006.  BTW... my symptoms are all my printers have disappeared, and when I try to 'add a new printer' I get an error message saying that my spooler service does not work.   I have a network consisting of Windows 7 laptop computers, an XP laptop and a Wireless Linksys (Cisco) WRT610 N + N with storage attached to it via its USB port.  Your PC Windows 7 has, since I can see and access to other computers and devices on storage.  Since Windows 7 PC B I can not connect (via the file manager) to A PC or NAS storage network.  Get such as 0 x 80070035 and 0X80004005 error codes when you try to connect to the IP address on the device name.  When I ping the devices of PC B I have no trouble to achieve.

  I turned off all firewalls, added the LMHOST file entries and a myriad of other tests and still cannot connect to PC B devices.  I can surf the net fine and do everything else - simply cannot connect to other devices even if these other devices can connect to me.

  I was in there for 22 years and has worked as an engineer on major networks and the network I stem - anyone got any idead. I checked all the basics such as Netbios, file sharing etc etc.

  It took a reinstall (upgrade) to get actually it works again.
