I've saved some important images into my USB and they suddenly disappeared [desktop.ini]?
The pictures in my pen-drive are no where. When I see her in my computer, it shows that its almost full, and when I get there is nothing. So I looked at all the hidden files & file system and found a folder named [recycler] with a different file name [desktop.ini] inside. How can I get the pictures seen again... your help would be really appreciated and if you have a software in mind please do not hesitate to mention it. :)
Hi AbitCraiz,
Welcome to Microsoft Community where you can find all the answers related to Windows.
According to the description provided, looks like you are not able to access the files in the USB. The likely cause of this issue could be due to the virus that hides those files.
I have a couple of steps that should help you to solve the problem.
Method 1:
Try the steps mentioned in this link and check if you are able to see the photos:
Show hidden files
http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/show-hidden-files
With this try to uncheck these below the show hidden files temporarily and check:
i. hide empty drives in the computer folder.
II. Hide extensions of known file types.
III. Hide protected operating system files (Recommended).
Note: Once the files are transferred, make sure that the options mentioned above are changed by default.
Note: If you are able to see the files in the USB key, do a right click on the folder, and then click Properties. Uncheck the box hidden in the general folder and transfer the files.
Method 2:
Run a virus scanner and check:
Virus is known to cause these problems. Scan your computer for the Microsoft Security Scanner, which allows to get rid of viruses, spyware and software malware.
http://www.Microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx
Note: The Microsoft Safety Scanner expire after 10 days from the date of installation.
Note: The data files that are infected must be cleaned only by removing the file completely, which means that there is a risk of data loss.
Hope this information helps. In case you have issues with Windows, post here to Microsoft Community.

Why can I import images into Lightroom 6 with El Capitan?
What can I do?
Again, what is the file system (i.e. How is it formatted) used on the
external drive? Go to the Apple menu, select "about this Mac", click
"System report", in the report that you get, go to hardware and select
storage. Report what it says on your external drive to "File System" and
whether it's writable. It looks like your external may be formatted as
NTFS, which would make unwritable on a Mac. It should say "logged".
"HFS +".

can you please answer
When I open the games online I can't get into the game, and they will write chek your firewall
Hello
I'm sorry for the inconvenience, but I should be able to help.Internet connection issues are widely available and vary from one case to another. Your question, however it seems that the most likely cause is that your computer's firewall prevents your applications to connect to the internet. You can check this easily by:1. go to the Start Page of Windows 'default Page of Windows 8.2 mouse hover in the top right of the screen then click on the search"" button.3. type in 'Control Panel' after a brief search you will see a button at the top of the page left labled 'Control Panel' click on this button and you go in desktop mode and allow you to navigate in the control panel.4 from there, click on the tab labeled "system and security."5. then, click on the second option in the list titled "Windows Firewall"6. the first thing you want to do is to check if you are on a "private" or "Public network" (a private network is usually the safest and although on this type of network, you are less likely to be vulnerable to attacks, Public network are accessible by anyone and give a greater risk).7 the right it will say Private Networks Connected / not connected and below that it will say comments or connected/not connected networks public. Most computer security settings differ based on your type of connection, if you are on a network audience of settings on your computer will be more strict and could prevent your programs connected to the internet. (Say if you are connected to a private network, you can probably exclude this.)8. If you are connected to a private network and your programs don't always work correctly in the top left of the window under "Control Panel Home" you want to click on the option "allow an app or feature through Windows Firewall."9 a list first your "Internet Capable of programs" quickly browse and find that you are having problems with and take note of the checkboxes next to them. If no box is checked, you will want to allow them to connect. Do this by clicking on the "Edit settings" button located in upper right10 you want then allow your program through the firewall, this by simply checking the box next to it. (Note that if the Public network that can leave your computer vulnerable or higher risk)11 after doing this click ok, now go back and try to run your program and see if the problem is resolved.12. If you cannot find your program, click the "Allow" another app... button and navigate to your programs (usually in the folder C: / drive in the folder programs.) and choose your program and adjust the settings to allow through the firewall.13 if this does not solve your problem, and the problem persists, try to go into Internet Explorer, by clicking on the gear in the top right and open Internet Options. Go to the Security tab and check how strict your settings are. You should be able to click on "Reset to Default" to solve this problem, if that's the problem. (Located at the right bottom)I hope that this helps if not let me know and I'll give you some suggestions. Thanks for your time, I hope this has helped.-Ian -
cannot import images into lightroom cc using Mac
everything I try to import images of the map, I get a message that says lightroom could not read image. The card reader works because I can import pictures from another app like iPhoto.
The most common problem for errors "failed to read", it's that your destination folder has WRITE permissions added.
In your LR import dialog box, verify that the destination folder is where you want it to be and correctly spelt.
Then, using the Finder, go to this folder and make sure that your username has both READ and WRITE access to this folder and its parent.

I tried to import by different methods. I created an external file on my hard drive and put the RAW images in there and asked Lightroom to import from there. I also simply asked Lightroom to import directly from the card to the camera.
In both cases, I see the images on my screen but then one by one, they are converted to an image blackened with nothing at all.
I tried to put pictures in development but that makes no difference, even using the adjustment sliders.
I tried to export images from Lightroom in Photoshop CC. There, I have a very dark version of the image. While I suppose I could change it, I have no idea what the image before hand that I simply export a black image.
This happened only since I've upgraded to the new version of Lightroom on CC. Before that, I had no problem and went through the laborious effort of crating a new catalogue over 25,000 images... maybe it's a very small number of images in actual value, but for me it's a great thing.
Thank you
The Cotterill

Import Images from the PS and LR problem
Hi all
Since my last update App, I experienced some problems when you import images from LR into PS
1. where, in LR, I select 2 or more images of 'open as layers in PS', I get a Pop Up telling me that I need the latest version of Camera Raw... It is up to date according to my account.
2. once I finished with the photos in PS and save them in LR... the final image is ebb in different areas of the strip of film... Sometimes it is the first image... sometimes, it's the last image... I have the set to Capture time. It slows down my work flow in organizing my photos. I photograph the real estate and the placement of the final images is crucial.
All the tips are greatly appreciated.
Thank you...
Brian

A link rather than import images into Keynote
Is there a way to link the images, rather than their import in Keynote? What I wan't is something like InDesign, so that every time I update a * psd or * png file, it will update automatically in Keynote. Instead of me having to remember each picture and replacing manually, is such a chore.
Best regards
Oskar
Keynote is not related to image files, images must be placed on a slide so that the file is copied into the Keynote file.
Keynote doesn't have a facility to update the images or other data when it is changed in the original file.

At a recent wedding, I used 3 different cameras and 2 types of media cards. A type is a standard CF 2 GB and the other is a 2 GB Smart Media/xo. They imported with file extensions such as 001 - 3.jpg, 002 - 4.jpg, some files are named correctly, 003, 006. That this has something to do with the help of different cameras. How prevent you getting the or - 1-2 after a number of digital file. I'm sure there's an easy answer and I do not have something good, but it drives me crazy.
There are already files with the name you are trying to write to the disk, so Lightroom trying to do the right thing to stop overwriting of files and adds a number to the file, so it has a different name.
Be more aware of your image sequence that import you will help prevent it.

Something to try...Connect the camera to the computer via a USB cable and
Turn on the camera. If open windows... Close them.
Reach... Start / computer / removable devices
Storage...Look at the drive letters and see if one of them
represents the camera. He can say removable diskIf the camera is recognized... right click on the drive letter
and from the menu choose... Open or explore. The directory of the memory card in the camera must
poster and if you browse through the various
files, you must find the photo files.Once found... you can copy/paste the pictures in a folder
on your hard drive.Simple and the best solution IMHO is to use an internal
or external USB memory card reader. It will not drain your camera batteries and can be faster.
FWIW... download from the camera when batteries
can be low after a long photo shoot could result
corrupted photos. You have a USB media drive internal or external?
Insert the memory card into the correct location on the media player...
If open windows... Close them. When the card is inserted... If you go to... Start / computer... is
player card on one or several removable disks?
(You could say, "devices with... of removable storage")Removable (e :)) drive
Removable disk (e :))
Removable drive (g)If_Yes_you can download photos from there. Left click
the drive letter that corresponds to the memory card must
display the directory of the card and you can copy and paste or
Drag and drop the photos of your choice in a folder on your hard drive
drive.Just a select group of photos do a right-click and choose... Copy...
then navigate to the folder that you want, and then right-click the
folder and choose Paste. And it may be interesting to try to adjust your AutoPlay settings.

Problem importing images into Lightroom 5.6
I use an iMac 10.9.5. I was the import of CR2 conversion to DNG files in Lightroom 5.6 without any problem.
Suddenly, files take an age to import and Lightroom crashes without loading all the files. I force the resignation of Lightroom and then my computer hangs and will not be closed. I will finish by holding the button on the back of the iMac. Then Lightroom does not. After several attempts I managed to leave Lighroom, but I still have the same problem when loading files. I tried to delete the file com.adobe.Lightroom5.plist in the folder Preferences, as suggested on this forum, but who has not cured the problem. I don't know if this is a problem, but I used a card reader Transcend multi for the first time this week instead of my usual player. Maybe, there was some kind of problem with compatibility, although it shouldn't have been. Now, however, I can't download my old player of card properly either.
Any ideas?
It looks like a hardware problem... bad USB cable, bad card reader or camera damaged card or bad USB port.
