  • Impossible to install Office 2007 on Macbook/Fusion

I have a Macbook aluminium, and 2.01 Fusion.

Through consumption of Microsoft program has purchased Office 2007 (Enterprise Edition).  Comes on a DVD.  Can't get it installed - any help would be greatly appreciated.

When I insert the DVD (w/o the Fusion running), the disc spins and grinds for about 30 seconds, then spit out the DVD.  Did the same thing when Fusion (XP VM) is running.  So, as is, I can not install off this DVD directly on the virtual machine - the computer will never even show the disc.  I checked the disc with other media, and it works very well; In addition, checked the DVD on a PC XP and this computer has recognized the disc very well.

Tried to watch, found some older threads with similar problems, but no result.  Here's what I tried, without success:

Insert the DVD in the drive of my PC XP networked and shared this drive.  Could see the files on the DVD in the player shared under OSX.  Copied all files to the Macbook on a shared folder with the VM XP and I could then see the files of the virtual machine and run the install, but it gets stuck you are looking for the file "setup.xml" after I select which parts of the Office I want to install, even when pointed to the specific directory, the location of the file.  Cannot get past this error message and I cancel the installation.

Then, use disk utility to create a CD image (with the source being the shared drive w / disc). I burned the image on a new DVD.  Now, OSX will accept and can see files on DVD recently burned.  However, when I start the XP VM, it does not recognize the drive.  The virtual machine recognize other media in this drive, however, so I don't think it's a problem of General settings now.

I don't know if it's a sort of Microsoft security measure, or what... Have not been able to find a solid answer after a search, so I can get this wrong and that's the problem.  I don't think it's a physical disk problem, because the original disc was accessible on an XP PC.

Since you have a Windows system available that can read DVD discs I make an ISO Image of the DVD disc on Windows system and then move the ISO Image via the network or other methods, to the Mac and then attach the ISO Image to the Virtual Machine's CD/DVD drive and install the iSO Image form.

How to reset the Windows Update components?
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/971058

    Clean boot - see: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/310353

Now reset the Windows components by using the 'Fix It' method-
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/971058

Right click on the link under Fixit icon named 'This problem', save the ResetWindows.msi on the desktop and once the download is complete, close IE.

Now run ResetWindows.msi (if you are invited to the mode to run in, choose aggressive mode)

Note: you must be connected to the internet because the tool will download and install necessary update of the software components.

When it's finished, you should be prompted to restart.
Do and see if the system can be updated now.

Remember to undo the steps that have been made to the boot, the system eventually no matter what the result of the execution of ResetWindows.msi.

If that doesn't help - download the full file and install the same:

I am currently running XP.  I expect that the new laptop has Windows 7.

Without the original installation media, Microsoft Office 2003, you cannot install a version upgrade of Microsoft Office 2007.  You would need to purchase a version of "Full license" of Office 2007. Carey Frisch

  • Unwanted search pane in Word (Windows7, Office 2007), keyboard and then acting weird, unpredictable, F1 key and then does not work. Office 2003 has been removed before installing Office 2007 and Word 2007 seemed ok before that.

While typing in a Word Windows7 (new office 2007) doc I suddenly get the stream to the right of the screen, not asked for.  Go to the revision, Proofing tab shows the space search button highlighted (never selected by me);  my keyboard (Microsoft!) and then crashes and behaves strangely and I can't seem to do anything. I can't find a way to remove or to move from this unwanted intrusion with the exception of the stop and restart, but it happened again and again.  Got a 3000 Word report to write, going crazy now.  No joy with the help online - in fact the F1 button stops working during these "tricks".  Someone at - it similar problems, or ideas where to go from here?  The most appreciated

Please note that there is no such thing as a word "Windows 7".
document ". You're talking about Word 2007 (part of Office 2007) and
It has nothing to do with Windows 7. Yes, it runs under Windows 7,
but it can also under other versions of Windows. Word is a
    art of the operating system.

Ask a question about word in a Windows 7 forum. You are
much more likely to get the help you're looking for, if you ask
in a word (or newsgroup) forum since it is the place where the Word experts
    Hang.

    Original title: KB2289158, KB2413381 for Windows 7 64-bit updates

Remember - this is a public forum so never post private information such as numbers of mail or telephone!

My automatic update for Windows 7 64 bit does not work for updates KB2289158 and 2413381 KB. It has already happened with some other updates, and then Windows seems to add an update to fix the problem?

    • You have problems with programs
    • Error messages
    • Recent changes to your computer
    • What you have already tried to solve the problem

    Hi trojan.

    1. This only happens with the Office updates?

    2. you receive all of the error codes or error messages?

3 have you tried to install the stand-alone packages updates?

    Step 1:

You try to run the troubleshooter Windows 7 update and check.

Open the Windows Update troubleshooting tool

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/open-the-Windows-Update-Troubleshooter

    Step 2:

Also try to install the updates and check manually.

To download updates, follow these steps:

    a. download updates from the Microsoft download Center:

    http://www.Microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyId=be0c5878-60c0-4700-8836-50d369b51d04

    http://www.Microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyId=df826b79-7398-45de-943C-6f6f0af1b4e3

    b. double-click on the downloaded file.

    d. you can either click Run to start the installation or you can click on save and save it on the desktop and run the installation once the update is completely downloaded.

    Hope this information is useful.
