I was scammed logmein123 and want to prevent anyone to access my computer via a wireless network

original title: Logmein123 scam (im stupid)

OK, I fell victim to the scam logmein123, I feel so stupid for what I did and im scared now, the only solace I have is that I bought what they were selling. I changed all my passwords and my ip address. I have no info on bank account or credit card on my computer and I always wipe my cookies and internet history every time I close a browser but I'm sure that I'm always high risk. can someone tell me how to check my computer to see if they still have access to me. IM also wondering if I can block anyone access to my computer via a wireless network, it would make me a little more secure. Finally, my can they still view my computer information, even if I ran a virus scan and no harmful viruses have been detected. BTW im using norton 360 as my virus protection.

Hello

the only way to be absolutely certain that your machine is not compromised is to backup your data and reinstall vista

  • My Mac Pro and HP Deskjet 3070 PowerBook does not connect via a wireless network from dorm

Both my laptop and printer (an all-in-one) are connected to the same wireless network dorm, but they do not connect on it.  They connect only wire using a USB cable.

I have for the MacBook Pro and the Deskjet printer IP addresses but no way to use to establish a connection.  I don't have access to the network router.  When I test the connectivity, the software tells me, "too many networks."  He can't make a choice!

Interestingly, I have my MacBook Air along this journey, too, and the two MacBook have no problem of communication on the same network of dorm.

Is it possible to plug these devices such as computers connect or should I remain attached to the USB cable to use my new printer?  I guess you know how I feel about this.  Thanks for your advice.

You are right.  There is no way to bypass security protected by password and thus to connect a Mac to a Deskjet 3070 via a secure network without access to a router, and a password.  However, even without access to a network or a router, there is a workaround solution.  In my case, where the technical ability to correctly configure the router and the printer is beyond the understanding of the management of the dormitory, qualified through the difference to happen anytime soon, it is the answer I need.

The solution is to build your own Mac + network printer and make it private, protect it against unwanted entry.  This offer you little mobility in the area of the printer, which is much better than nothing.  A sofa can be more conducive to creative thinking as an Office Chair.  The unconventional twist that Johnny introduced the user, the printer that generates the sender-recipient, not the Mac network.  Very smart.

I refer you to the thread,

"Deskjet 3070 cannot connect to the ad - hoc network (Mac)"

    http://h30434.www3.HP.com/T5/printer-networking-and-wireless/DeskJet-3070A-cant-connect-to-ad-hoc-network/m-p/1446819#M38598

Then the only question is to know how to connect your Mac on the Deskjet 3070 printer via the generic (as he calls it, "ad hoc") network created by the Deskjet printer.  The Mac has abundant features for this purpose.

Thanks for the categorical assertion, however.  No sense to break down the walls looking for a nonexistent hidden tunnel...!

  • Upgrade to Windows 7 64 bit and want to be able to access data files

    I have a question about upgrading to a 64-bit Windows 7 installation.

I am currently using windows 7 32 bit and want to upgrade to 64 - bit. I use a second hard drive internal for the backup, and I was wondering, if I have my files on the second backup drive and upgrade the primary drive to 64-bit, it will still be able to recognize and read the secondary drive, because how the files were written it on a 32 bit OS?
I wanted to just make sure before you move forward.

The installation does not affect that the system drive, but you should backup or disconnect the drive or you accidentally select the wrong drive during installation.

You will need to do a clean install, there is no place on the way to upgrade Windows 7 32 bit to 64 bit.

Using the disk of 64-bit Windows 7, install Windows 7 Windows Easy Transfer Utility from the DVD (to find it, simply navigate to x:\support\migwiz, "x:" is the name of your hard drive. (In this case, you will see a collection of files, the important"that you must search for and double-click is 'migsetup'.) run it and create a DAMP (Windows Easy Transfer file), if you have an external hard drive, you can access it later when you perform a clean install of Windows 7 64-bit disk so you can stored there.

Once you have done this, just do a clean install of Windows 7 64 bit disc. In Windows 7 64 bit disk, start Windows Easy Transfer, follow the wizard screen, tap on which is stored the WET file (external hard drive) and it will restore your personal files and settings. Reinstall the applications needed.

    http://www.notebooks.com/2009/10/07/using-Windows-easy-transfer-in-Windows-7/

Boot from the DVD 64 bit Windows 7
    Click Install now
    Accept the license agreement
When the option is displayed to select a type of installation, click (Custom advanced)

Select the disk partition where you want to install Windows 7 click Next.

You will receive the following warning:

The partition you have selected may contain files from a previous Installation of Windows. If so, these files and folders will be moved to a folder named Windows.old. You will be able to access the information in Windows.old, but you will be able to use your previous version of Windows.

(At all costs, do NOT click on anything in Format, deletion or Partition name.) So even do a custom installation, your personal files are still kept. Click OK

The installation program will now begin installation. During installation, your computer will be restarted several times.

Once the installation is complete, you can complete the Out of Box experience as the choice of your laptop, create a username, password, your time zone. You can then proceed to download the latest updates for Windows and reinstall your applications and drivers.

You can then retrieve your personal files from the Windows.old folder and reinstall all of your applications and drivers.

  • Photosmart C309a: Want to be able to scan w / Photosmart C309a on wireless network

I want to add the solution Center HP to be able to scan documents to my wireless laptop.  I've loaded and installed the last HP software for the printer HP Photosmart C309a on my new computer laptop of Toshiba.  I was able to print from Word and Adobe Reader, etc., wireless, but I can't access the printer through the HP Solution Center to scan documents. I am told that installation of the device is not complete.  Then...

... When I try via "add a device Photosmart...". "the software detects the printer, but every time I try using (connected with cable) ethernet or wireless, after the network diagnostics, it will fail.  I did at least a dozen times.

Another laptop with the same software is close is connected via the wireless and works perfectly.  I'm working on that won't work.

I would try to uninstall, reboot, then reinstall the printer software.  There should be an uninstall icon in the folder/printer HP in the group '' programs. ''

If you have other software installed HP printer that you don't use I would uninstall that as well.

  • V40 HP on office xp and is shared via the wireless network. laptop with windows 7 will not be printed on v40.

Cannot print from laptop (windows 7) via the wireless router desktop (windows xp) with attached usb HP v40 .for all-in-one.

    (7) - wireless laptop router - desktop (xp) - usb - HPv40

Has worked for laptop is running xp.

Laptop of the coils of print job at the office and apparently complete, but the bureau simply ignores the print job.

    No error message.

    printing from office very well.

I reported this as resolved. I submitted this problem. The problem started when the update of my laptop computer from Windows XP to Windows 7. When I did, the Lexmark printer to my desktop worked find with the new system of the laptop. The HP V40 has failed. The Office has just received each print job submitted from the laptop (via a local wireless network) and scrapped it. I could see the print job come in the V40 print queue and could disappear.

Here's what I did to solve the problem:

I tried a dozen or so combinations of withdrawal and installing the printer on my Windows 7 laptop and my Office Windowx XP (with the V40 attached via USB) and manually removing and installation of printer drivers on my desktop PC, it works finally. What have I done? I have no idea, but I think that deleting manually pilots v40 on the office was part of the solution. While view printers available on my XP desktop computer, I clicked on file and one of the tabs has led me to a place where I could remove the drivers for each printer (I just removed them for the V40).

    Here's what I DIDN'T DO:

I'm not following the advice of the HP support person I contacted by phone. This Board had to reinstall Windows XP on my desktop. That clearly was not the problem when I talked to him. But he would NOT listen to reason. Luckily I have enough knowledge to know PC than its low of false tips

I am pleased with the resultant availability of the V40 again.

I have no idea how to officially close this problem.

I would be happy to discuss with someone else who has a similar problem, but when I submitted this problem with my name and email address, the moderator has deleted my presentation of the problem. Therefore, I think that all those who want to know more is out of luck.

  • Home network with 2 PC with Windows 7 and 1 PC Windows XP. When sharing files via the MSHome network I have permission errors. How can I solve this?

original title: cannot open or copy some files within the home network

I have a home network that are connected by a router.

A (main) pc is connected via a cable to a router on Windows XP pro sp3.
2 other laptops running Windows 7 connected via Wifi.

All of them configured to work with the workgroup MSHOME.
On the pc main (with XP), I have a folder shared with full access, including change files. The folder contains videos that are uploaded directly to it.

Sometimes 2 other laptops can not access some files, they see them but can't open them or copy them, I get this error:
    http://S3.PostImage.org/623foisor/image.PNG

    If I do the following:
On my main pc I move the movie file in this folder to another folder and then bad bring it back.
The file can be accessed and copied!

    What's wrong?!

I'm glad that you guessed it work.

Permissions show that "Everyone" has full access inherited, so that the list must have been made after that you have added everyone.  "Everyone" in this list without a guest user (or any user if you have active Simple file sharing) would not have permissions on this folder.

  • Want to block access to others of my wireless router

people keep connecting our wireless connection from outside our House and doing terrible research and we want to prevent this.

    Hi Alison,.

Wireless routers can be set with security (and then you put the same level of security and the key on your computers, and only you can access it).

Go to start / all programs / accessories / right-click on command prompt, and click Run as administrator.  Then type IPCONFIG/all and click Enter (exactly as written with the space).  It should show you a number of things, including what is called the default gateway for your wireless connection.  This is most likely your router and probably something like 192.168.0.1 or something similar.

Now, open IE (or your browser) and in the address bar, type the same number.  This should connect to the router.   He may request a user name and password.  If you don't, contact your ISP or router manufacturer to be reset or get help to find or to find out what they use as the default generic values on this brand and model (if reset, no matter what they say, change them for something unique that you'll remember because many people know those generic used by companies and can easily get past that thanks to) them and we'll close them - they'll suggest against it because if you forget them, you watered - and it's true, so just remember them).  Once again, you will need to go to security and configure security settings appropriate for your system (and possibly make a few other changes as well).  You will probably need assistance of the ISP or router manufacturer to select the most appropriate for your system and network and ISP router.  For example, I couldn't use the best Type of security because it was not compatible, but was able to use the best following which is fine - but who would never have known had not walked me through the process.

Once done, go to your devices and computers and change the wireless settings to match those of the router.  You will probably have set up a security Type and the Type of encryption and a network security key (which is basically a password).  It is difficult to guide you without knowing your OS, but for mine using Vista I'm going on the network and sharing Center in Control Panel and click on 'manage wireless networks '.  Then I double click on my wireless network connection and click on the Security tab and it present options for these same three elements.  I input what I set up on the router, save the settings and reboot.  When I'm back, I can now connect to the network, and the wireless connection is secure (and if you see the wireless network page, it will say now secure and if you go to "Connect to a network" the options presented will also show it is attached.)  That's all and you have completed and now you are sure.

    I hope this helps.

    Good luck!
