I would like to receive comments about the downgrade from Windows 7 to Windows XP.

I recently asked HP (ny new computer mfgr) if they would replace 7 with XP. They sent me a new HP XP Professional x 64 edition recovery disk for free. Before installing it but I would like to ask if there is a history of problems caused by such a replacement. I had years experience at the Milenium replacement which caused negative residual effects. I want to assure you that it is a clean install. l'm a test engineer running a large number of complex test software and cannot afford unknown problems.
Thank you for your expertise, Bob

There is no way to do * except * by a clean install, so there may not be any "residual". Boot from the XP CD and follow the instructions.

It is possible (especially if it's a laptop) that the computer was built for Windows 7 and that there will be problems with XP; for example, for some of its hardware components, you will need XP drivers that are not available. You should check with HP to be sure that won't be a problem.

Why do you do this? In my opinion, it takes a step back and is a srious error. If you don't like Windows 7, you should give you more time to get used to and learn it.
