I5-650 upgrade to i7 - 875 or wait for Ivy Bridge-E to be released?

Then, when I bought my current motherboard, my upgrade path has been my i5-650, which is quite slow, to an i7. I've been waiting for a while for the price to drop on the i7-875, but they remain still at the 350-$ 400 (US) level. I like the i7-875 because it has unlocked. I have a Noctura C12P cooler, I initially intended to buy a unlocked i7 and overclock a little. Unfortunately my i5-650 has no an unlocked multiplier. I knew that when I bought it, but at the point where I expected to be able to upgrade the processor in the year. I did not yet as I used to be an editor very novist - now I'm at an intermediate level and my slow processor has really started to bother me.

However, now I think that it would be better to wait for the Ivy Bridge-E, which from what I've read so far, should be a processor 8-core complete. This will allow me to take advantage of the four memory channels (my i5 only supports dual channel), a better CPU socket as the 2011, much more big cache on die CPU itself and of course the 8 cores that will be 4 times the physical cores that I have now. I'll also be able to update my motherboard if I leave with a new processor, which would be nice because my EVGA P55 THE limit myself to only 16 GB of memory, 4 x 4 gigs. When I built my rig, two years ago, 16 concerts seemed to be quite similar. Now, I know that I need 32 or maybe 64, so I need a motherboard that offers 8 DIMM slots - mine has only four.

I'll have to wait about a year or two, depending on when Intel finally released Ivy Bridge-E, but I'm OK with it if it means a significant improvement in my render times. Now that I'm loading individual clips with many effects, color correction, etc... I see a lot more red in my calendar and I'm tired of waiting for the previews made and so I can back to work.

Any thoughts on the Ivy Bridge-E and its release date, etc...? All I can find is that it is delayed until the third quarter of 2013, which is nearly a year away, but if the new format of 22nm chip is worth the wait, I will be willing to wait rather than take an intermediate step and then spend again in less than a year...

Thank you!

The upgrade should be based on what makes more sense than your workloads. From this moment you can already buy a motherboard Socket 2011 as there dropping in support of 8-processor Core (they are already avaiblible under the line of Xeon from Intel that is supported on the boards as the WS P9X79 which work as well consumer CPUs (Sandy Bridge (E). The difficult situation you're is you pushcaeed a platform that had a quick u-turn socket wise so upgrade has become limited and the cost of the CPU for the platform.

At least with the 2011 Socket which is not goin anywhere any time soon. Ultimately, you must make the call whether to move your Board and CPU currently to something that will provide a significant increase in performance as a X 79 part of card with even the quad core (3820) or wait to get a piece of 8 native hearts which is already avaiblible with references of Xeon. Do not forget that there is a cost of considerble delta by adopting a 8 on the side of Intel processor.

I hope this helps. Enjoy the rest of your day!

  • Error of "Waiting for the bridge" mini Bridge Macintosh

We had this error on a couple of our computers and none of the steps in the KB article http://helpx.Adobe.com/Photoshop/KB/Error-waiting-for-bridge-CS5.html working.

We initially set up a computer to be used as our master image. Once we had things as we wanted on this computer we cloned the drive using Carbon Copy Cloner and distributed the main image to 3 other computers for the market trial. Mini Bridge worked very well on the main image. Once we have cloned the master we have changed the name of the user account by default to our intended user of the name following the directions of Apple for changing user account names. Mini Bridge has not worked on any one of the user accounts on computers cloned accounts whose names have not changed. I even tried to create a new test account and it still does not work.

I did some experiments remove Adobe various associated files and then try to use Mini Bridge until I realized what worked. I found it was I could go to/Library/Application Support / Adobe and help to get information, make the user by default, the owner of the Adobe folder. (They had already read/write permissions). After that, they are able to use the Mini Bridge. However, none of my other user accounts can work with the Mini Bridge since they are not owners of the Adobe folder. It seems that Mini Bridge can work only if the current user is also the owner of the Adobe folder?

I looked at permissions on the master for the Adobe folder and it said it was owned by the root and belonged to the admin group. On the cloned images, he said it is up to the user by default and it belongs to the personal group. I tried to use the Terminal and the owner and the Group of root and admin as it was on the master, but that made no difference. This will work only if the default user is in fact the owner of the folder.

We will clone multiple computers over this way and I would like to understand why this does not work and see if there is a way to make it work for all users of the computer. I'm sure that something is happening to the permissions in the Adobe folder when the user account is renamed on the clone, but I also did a group of 4 laptops this same way and all cloned computers work very well under all user accounts.

We will clone multiple computers over this way and I would like to understand why this does not work and see if there is a way to make it work for all users of the computer.

It is a hard on for this forum, few of us have experience with multiple users set up.

In general, Bridge does not always work that well on a network and a CS standard is limited to 2 computers and cannot be used in a both

Having also several open versions of the PS at the same time is possible, but bridge only allows a single version to be open.

Having multiple accounts on a computer must be able to work, but you can have an active with bridge I think.

And to my knowledge, it is not possible to use a shared library for bridge, but I have no experience with it. Minijonction will search the library for each account.

But as is, no experience with your configuration, just try to throw some ideas in the air

  • Sandy Bridge for Ivy Bridge CPU upgrade in the W520

Sandy Bridge and Ivy Bridge using the same socket. All tech sites say that we can do.

What are the implications? With HD-4000 graphics I would now be able to drive 4 monitors? What other benefits are there? Energy consumption is slightly reduced, the speed is slightly increased.

What are the limits of the chipset and BIOS implications?

  • A Raw of Canon S120 file is supported in Lightroom 4.4 or am I being forced to upgrade or wait for support with this version?

Use and love Lightroom 4.4.  Tried to open the RAW of Canon 120 format. CR2 and get error / unsupported messages. On Adobes great little table, I see that I need a newer version to use my S120. Am I obliged to being upgraded to use my camera in RAW, or is there some support or correct to use my camera and the version without an expensive and useless upgrade. If I wait for support will be added or available somehow?  If so how do I know or get it? What about Tom

Support for the camera will be added natively 4.4 Lightroom. This version is now history and is is no longer updated by Adobe. Lightroom 5.3 or newer version is required to open raw files. However, Adobe provides a free DNG Converter that will allow you to create copies of these raw images that can be opened in the Lightroom that you now DNG. So, Yes, there is a method that is provided for you to work on this camera raw image data.

  • Upgrade CP 5.0 to 5.5 CP - or wait for the next version of Captivate?

I use CP 5.0. I'm now interested in producing a release of HTML5 as well as in the use of a feature of speech synthesis improved (especially for German-speakers).

If I understood a right to information, CP 5.5 would allow these two problems.

Unfortunately buy an upgrade can become a stony path through the bureaucracy and would take about 3 months. So my question is: would you recommend to wait for the next version of Captivate? If Yes: how long should I wait wait that this version be available?

This depends on the urgency of the requirement of your project.

If I was in your position, and you will get a shot at this upgrade because of the bureaucracy of management involved, I would expect Cp6.

  • Everyone has promised a year of training upgrade to Cs4? Still waiting?

I'm waiting now for nearly two months to Adobe to get to the incentive they offered if I were to switch to Photoshop Cs4, I spent hours on the phone in Mumbai and customer support in the United States. My case has been "upgraded" and representatives agreed that I am to the training. The last promise that the issue would be resolved was made 22 days ago. I had a file open in the customer portal since June 30.

I must say it was nice to talk to all the wonderful representatives in India. We spent hours while they tell me that they have no idea of what that is what I'm talking about and ask me to explain the case again and again. It's all to their file, which is updated every time that I give the floor. I call again right now. I'm 17 minutes listening to some music canned the worst on the planet. If I'm lucky that they don't patch me through the sales of Adobe in the States, who cannot do anything and are tired of hearing about these things, or a dealer in Reno in Nevada, which has happened once, honest.

If I'm really lucky I'll receive a service representative who knows how to put the file to someone who will actually do something. Unlike the last time they said they would...

The case has been closed by Adobe once and marked "resolved". I re-opened. I wonder if Adobe expects me simply drop this if they don't know me long enough. I don't want to.

Does anyone have this offer? Do you have the training? Just curious.

22 minutes waiting for Adobe answering the phone now...

I have the same problem.  They offered, I accepted.  They shipped the upgrade but have not sent a key code or reacted to the case, I opened. Apparently the only people home of Adobe are those who take your money.  Can't be bothered to follow a simple query or even respond timely.

  • Windows 7 Edition Home Premium or wait for Windows 8

    Hello

My six year, Sony's all-in-one PC is running slower and slower despite the developed and needs to be replaced this year. My dilemma is whether to replace now, probably with a laptop with screen 17.3 inch under Windows 7 Home Premium or wait for Windows 8 released. To use PC home and I'm a relatively unsohisticated user. Any advice much appreciated.

Before getting a new laptop or PC, check their website to see if they already Win8 pilots. If so and you want something that looks like XP, I'd go for scope Win7 in time Win8 once it is released. A lot of the manufacturer may offer a "anytime upgrade" of Win7 for Win8 with the purchase of their product. Dell and others who did when Win7 is out; you buy a PC with XP installed, and you could get the upgrade later for a reduced price (and in some cases, free).

I tried Win8 consumer Preview and really don't care for her. I'm not an iPad or iPhone user (I use my cell phone as a phone, not a computer), so I'm not all that familiar with the concept of full tile to do things. Give me a Start Menu and I'm happy :-)

Of course, these are just my opinions, and I don't know there are many others who will be either agree or disagree with me, and that's ok. Diversity is what keeps life interesting :-)

You cannot use a Windows 7 Professional anytime upgrade product key with reinstall media, it can be used only to upgrade license of qualification basis where you bought the upgrade in the first place (Starter, Home Premium).

The first thing you need to do is to get your key to Windows 7 Professional upgrade Express:

An e-mail containing your product key will be sent to the e-mail address associated with your Windows Live ID account or e-mail address you provided if you ignored the account configuration. Note: If you use an email tool or spam blocker spam filter, be sure that you can receive e-mail messages from microsoft.com.

What happens if I lose my product key?

If you lose your product key, you can return to

www.Windows7.com/GetKey and sign in using the "Sign In" link in the upper right of the page. This will allow to recover your product key if you have established your account with your Windows Live ID. If you do not configure a Windows Live ID account initially there is no record of your online product key. Check your e-mail since it is the only trace of your product key.

    or

Here are four utilities, which can display your product keys if they are still there:
    Belarc Advisor: http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html
(He did a good job of providing a wealth of information.)

    Also: http://www.magicaljellybean.com/keyfinder.shtml
    and: http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/product_cd_key_viewer.html
and RockXP: http://www.majorgeeks.com/download4138.html which has additional features.

    --------------------

The next thing you need to do is to ensure that your data is backed up:

    -------------------

The next thing you need to do is to reinstall the base license that you upgraded, Windows 7 Starter Edition or Home Premium.

If your computer is pre-installed with Windows 7:

New computers that come pre-installed with Windows often have what is called a recovery partition. This is used to reinstall an operating system in the case of a system failure. To access it, you need to start when you start your computer by pressing a function key. This can be either F1, F2, F9, F10, F11, F12 key DEL or tab. See the manual that came with your PC for instructions on how to reinstall Windows.

If your recovery partition is not available or damaged, you must contact the manufacturer of your computer, and request that a defined recovery disk you can use to reinstall Windows 7. They could practice a small shipping and handling.
    ------------------------------------
This is how the recovery partition is accessible to most popular brands...
For Dell, press F8 on the keyboard until the Advanced Boot Options menu appears on the screen.
For HP, press F11 directly after switching on the device
For LG, press F11 directly after switching on the device
For Toshiba, press and hold "0" BEFORE and during the power upward
For Acer, press and hold ALT + F10, as soon as you see the logo
For Asus, press F9, as soon as you see the Asus logo.
For Samsung, press F4 to the power upward...
For Fujitsu, press the F8 key directly after the power
Advent, restart your computer. Then, press F10 repeatedly until the message "Starting system recovery"
Sony VAIO, reboot and press "F8" or "F10" repeatedly until the screen "Advanced Boot Options".

Boot from the DVD 64 bit Windows 7
    Click Install now
    Accept the license agreement
When the option is displayed to select a type of installation, click (Custom advanced)

Select the disk partition where you want to install Windows 7 click Next.

You will receive the following warning:

The partition you have selected may contain files from a previous Installation of Windows. If so, these files and folders will be moved to a folder named Windows.old. You will be able to access the information in Windows.old, but you will be able to use your previous version of Windows.

(At all costs, do NOT click on anything in Format, deletion or Partition name.) So even do a custom installation, your personal files are still kept. Click OK

The installation program will now begin installation. During installation, your computer will be restarted several times.

Once the installation is complete, you can complete the Out of Box experience as the choice of your laptop, create a username, password, your time zone. You can then proceed to download the latest updates for Windows and reinstall your applications and drivers.

You can then retrieve your personal files from the Windows.old folder and reinstall all of your applications and drivers.

  • Take the OCAJP 7 (1Z0-803) now or wait for 8 OCAJP (or similar)?

I intend to take the exam of OCAJP 7 1Z0-803. But since JDK 8 was released, I think that Oracle will come out of the JAVA Programmer exam based on JAVA 8 soon.

They could even provide updated JAVA 7 to 8, but will cost just extra money since JAVA 8 exams may be available soon.

So, should I wait OCAJP 8 & get the latest knowledge (and certification) or give the review OCAJP 7 & wait for his upgrade to JAVA 8?

Also any beta exams available for JAVA 8 that I should consider?

I generally do not recommend that to your certification plans on hold while you wait for Oracle University release a review.  They may well not release examination six months (maybe more - probably not much less).  Once it is released, the exam will be in beta for 3-4 months.  Then once it is beta, there will be a wait of three months while the OU uses the test results to determine where the review need to be corrected before it will go to the production (and know you whether or not you have passed).  Essentially, you might be looking at a year from now, give or take a few months, before you could possibly be certified in Java 8.

In addition, Java 8 is not that most of the applications are developed at this time. It is not this that companies looking for people certified at this time.  In a few years, the market for people with Java 8 knowledge will pass.  For now, I would recommend complete your certification of OCAJP 7.  When the beta for version 8 comes out, you could go ahead and take - because the cost of the review will be low and most of what you have learned in the review of the v7 will apply.  However, remain idle pending the review of version 8 is displayed.
