    Hello

I understand that you want to change the icons of folders in the files shows all programs menu.

You can change the icons of folders which are displayed in the file Explorer, but these changes will not be reflected in the access to the start menu.

However, you can use some 3rd 3rd party apps that can help you to do the same.

  • Why the icons disappear from the Start Menu?

The Start Menu has two regions: a region for applications whose icons are pinned to the Start Menu and two region, for applications whose icons are not pinnend to the start menu... the positions of icons these vary, depending on the frequency of use.

Why in the region shortcut icons do not disappear into the Start Menu?
They are not being "jostled" more low ranking... they stop just appear.
Open an application can hand its icon at two area of the Start Menu,
but then after a few days (maybe earlier), for example, the icon is missing.

    Thank you
    DaleB

You already have the answer yourself.

"The two region" can only hold x number of icons... Let's say 7.
If you later open a 8th program, among the list of 7 will be "hit.
I opened Windows DVD Maker. Later, I opened MS Excel. Windows DVD is moved from the list.

  • Problem with the taskbar and the Start - Menu icons broken shortcuts and icons 'White Pages '.

I'm having a problem with Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit where all the icons outside of a couple in my in my Start menu and task bar have all lost their icons (and are now blank white pages) and clicking on their displays the screen where you choose which program to open the. Files with the INK.
I tried to empty the cache icon, but it has no effect. Any help is greatly appreciated.

There are ways to fix file associations, but I would recommend first trying to use the system restore to 'back in time' before the beginning of the question.  Don't worry, the system restore does not cause you to lose all the files, emails, photos, etc.

  • How to remove an item from the start menu in Windows 7?

I tried to install a game written for an earlier version of Windows.  It did not work, but when I uninstalled the program, he left an icon in my Start menu.  I can't find a way to delete the item in my Start menu.

If I click on the link, I get a message that says that this is not a valid Win32 application.

If I right click on the link, I get options:
    Play
    Run as administrator
    More games from Microsoft
    Support
    PIN to the taskbar
    PIN to Start Menu
    Sort by name

I miss the opportunity, we usually need to change the Menu start manually!

I did all that, although I had to 'Show hidden files' in two different places, but the guarded program reappear, even after that I deleted everything that I could find that had "Lemmings" in there.  I had installed the program on the D drive and I could delete it, but the next time I saw the Start Menu, it would put a file on drive D named Lemmings Revolution.exe (with no data in this document, 0 bytes).

I tried the support link from Microsoft and the thought that should work, but alas, I didn't have the product code to enter the FixIt program when asked.

I finally took a huge risk Open regedit and then sought to any occurrence of the word "Lemmings".  I deleted everything in the registry that referenced "Lemmings", then returned to the D drive (in the command prompt) and deleted the above programme, after that I restarted my computer.

So far, it seems to have solved the problem...

(I knew after you remove some of the registry keys, one of the contained key code product I could entered the FixIt program, but by then I had already made changes.)

Thanks to everyone who tried to help me!

You can change the icons of the folders and add images.
