IDML crashes

Since the last update of Adobe for creative cloud, I noticed all the documents I created before the update will crash if I export to IDML & then try to open the IDML file. The documents themselves will open very well, this is the file IDML I can't open.

I thought the problem might be because these are documents that have been constantly changed and updated for CS4, so I created new models (which are VERY sophisticated and complex) and thought I would try to copy all the data from the previous to the new files model. I made the model worked when exported to IDML then proceeded to copy the content of the document into the new model. Unhappy IDML export problem persists.

I noticed that my text frame object styles when importing seem to create a problem, so I tried to remove the style of object text votes to ZERO, but this would most of my paragraph and character styles to change and they return to normal if I reapplied the style of the text. And the problem of crash IDML remains. Then I tried to create a new document, individually created new blocks of text and tried to copy in the text. It seemed to work but then the moment, I have created a new block of text in the document & tried the IDML export & reopen, the crash problem reappearing. Remove graphic styles does not solve the problem either and has been very difficult, as I have many inline graphics icons embedded in the text that have object styles to force their positioning.

It is a very serious problem. Each of our annual catalogs allows to import most of the previous catalogues products so the IDML question becomes a problem in each new document. Everything simply recreate all of our imported items is not an option - we produce a catalog of pages 1100 + which takes months to update and create each year and many more small on top - which represents more than 100 new documents each year. We have the ability to retrieve any document that is damaged.

Someone else has run into this and found a solution?

Len, there are TWO parts to all prefs and you only deleted the half...

  • InDesign CS 5.5 corrupt styles?

    Hi all

I've updated a few months without any problems with CS5.5. I'm running10.6.8 on an iMac.

    Here's my problem:

I'm working on a 40-page document with the paragraph and character styles. The document works as expected EXCEPT when I try to change my styles.  This document was created in 5.5. When I go in the styles dialog box, I can make changes, but once I have client 'OK', I get the beach ball and must force them to leave. Also I get the beach ball on the attempt to remove documents. Version is 7.5.0. I was about to update but the 7.5.1 doesn't seem to be a solution, since I have no 3rd party plugins for InDesign installed.

    I tried:

1 Delete preferences (doesn't seem to help)

    2. move the pages into a new document (crash)

3 delete records and create the new style (let's do but once i access the dialog box, I get the beach ball and must force quit)

4 delete files on my computer (speaking with adobe)

    5 rename my document

    6. Save as

    7. export as IDML (crashes as page 5)

    8 disabled my preflight

9 disabled my fonts (thinking that it was a matter of police)

    10. reinstall InDesign

It happened a few weeks ago I thought it was a problem of corrupted files, so I went back to an earlier version of the morning - and that seemed to work for a while. I searched the forum and internet to see if anyone else has a problem

I had this problem when I talked to Adobe and we came up with a corrupted file. But once again? and the same questions?

I'm puzzled. Anyone? I'd appreciate an idea!

It turns out it was a corrupted text box. Deleted and the file is fine. Has taken a long time to get there, though.

  • InDesign crashes when you try to save IDML - even after reinstallation

I feel a little desperate here.

InDesign has decided to crash whenever I try to save something like IDML.

InDesign has decided to crash every time I try package a specific file that I need to provide for a sale of rights.

In the process, he damaged the file I tried to record and package. When it started, I felt compelled to disable the synchronization of files, because I can't afford simply to re-create the too many documents after that Indesign has trashed, so I should have still 'safe' copies online.

    What now?

I've deleted preferences, deleted the other layouts, remove all the styles and changed all the fonts Arial. That particular file still crashes when exporting record as IDML.

Funny you should ask. I move to the Office to have a clear space. Made no difference.

Finally I just made a new doc with the same characteristics, which took about 60 seconds, cut and pasted the content by propagation. 64 pages, it's 33 cut blocks. Each 16 pages or so I exported IDML, until it crashed, and I thought that it was page 60, so I divorced from objects on this page, images of reset to allow text on top, and it was fine.

It's a document originally created in 1998 in QuarkXpress, translated by Q2ID and content and design redesigned last year, so I guess that a gremlin cruft is not something to really complain. I was pleasantly surprised to see that cut and paste sheets imported style and properly linked images (nice work Adobe!).

  • crash when recording idml

Hi, I want to export 6 files in an idml (using the CC2015 update)

    He works with 3 files.

The other 3 files are exported only for 80% and indesign crashed.

The Question: in a single file were two linked text boxes. When I deleted this boxes export work. But in the last two files are linked text boxes. The files seem to be good at all, fonts, photo links etc...

I Don t know what I'm looking for to fix or the problem.

    You have any ideas?

Could be a bad police or corrupt style, or a bad image or something else entirely. Start by moving the pages to a new file. If this fails, move only half of the pages and continue to divide each half that fails until you ispolate a page (or pages) that has a problem, then select half the items on this page and cut the clip board and test again, then glue to the back and repeat the divisions until you isoliez the object.

If this does not work, try to export tagged text stories and put that into a new file.

    1. document A: attempted to create a Table of contents to replace the one I already have. INDD beachball.

    3 restarted Mac

    4. the same result as 1. Set up a new style of table of contents, with or without PDF hyperlinks. Same result.

5 reset preferences INDD. Document reopened attempted to create the table of contents. Same result.

6 document B: have tried to create a table of contents in another document. No problem, should be document, rather INDD as a whole.

    7. the document A: Reopened document original buggy, attempted to create IDML, but it froze at 57%. Force quit again...

What can I do to get a non-buggy working paper, has? It has variables and references, but the fact of B documents.

    Thanks Jongware for your suggestion.

Open as copy didn't work so I decided to go back to the previous version (I always do a new document when the customer sends the next set of amendments) and re-done about 5 hours of work, but now I have an updated version that does not keep crashing and with cross-reference works really well. Thought it would be better that send on you because I assumed that no one would be able to determine what was causing the document crashing to the point 57 percent of idml creation or when you click the mark button table of contents.

I guess that the 57% point INDD works on the table of contents, or cross-references or those dratted variables that cause any document down if the text that contains is selected. This is a bug that I wish Adobe would fix pronto. Only occurs on Mac not PC of CS5 version apparently computers.

  • exporting to IDML does not work

I worked on two InDesign files a few months (especially of text, notes incl., a few tables, few images), without encountering any problems.

Today ID has begun to behave oddly, what it crashes if (in the second of the two files) I change a style setting of character or delete certain pages. I can't explain why it happens suddenly, because I have not changed anything significant (no new plug-in, etc.) and, as I said, both files has worked flawlessly so far.

I tried to export the file to IDML, but it does not work (InDesign quit unexpectedly). I did a trash preferences - it did not help either, that is not a simple Save As.

At a loss now. Any help is greatly appreciated.

In the second half, keep cut in half until you find the error.

    Or try the BarbBindermethod.

I hope that one of them works!

  • InDesign 2015 crashing several times

Hello.  I am a very new user - have been a member of Adobe for all of a month.  I work on a project for a curriculum writer and am not a designer - I'm very new to all of this, although I can build websites and things like that - not completely clueless.  Anyway, I was moving along very well and had no problem and suddenly indesign crashes when I try to move pages.  I have read all the posts and tried everything I understand how to do, but can't figure out how to change my preferences.  I created new documents, exported to idml - although the other mentioned export option is not an option in my version, apparently, I rebooted and I'm at my wit's end.  I lost hours on it and am really frustrated.  I have a new computer is a Dell Inspiron 17 5000 with 8 GB of RAM and a terabyte of hard drive.  I'm running Windows 8.1 but would gladly upgrade to Windows 10 If this would solve it.  Many of the posts I've read are years and I do not know which still applies.

At first, I could move pages, but it stopped working today.  As I said, I have renamed, exported and the same several times.  Once it worked, but then he started to crash the next time I needed to move a page.  It's really slow me down and I'm afraid I'll miss my deadline.  Help!

I'm glad you're able to work. It could be other things, too. Generally, you want to search for the following text:

    • incorrect or outdated related assets
    • related images, EPS, HAVE or PDF
    • fonts that might be corrupt
    • items not on the editing table
    • invisible or covered objects
    • Malformed XML
  • 6 inDesign crashes when you export a PDF file

I get the same report of crash for days, every time I try to export a PDF in InDesign CS6. I don't know what is happening with this particular file, but can I export other files without problem. I have deleted all links .indd and .ai and does not use the new fonts that won't export in other files. I tried to export single pages and the whole document, in different resolutions, and it crashes every time. I stuck my last report of accident here: INDESIGN 6 CRASH REPORT - Pastebin.com

Export the file to IDML and open that.

Note also that you must patch InDesign (help > updates) and CS6 is not taken in charge at 10.11.

  • 2015 CC InDesign document crashes a few seconds to start working on it

A 2015 CC Adobe InDesign document I started before my holiday now crashes a few seconds to start working on it. This problem has not happened before and does not occur in any other document. I am running Windows 7. How can I begin to know how to solve this problem?

Open the IDML and save as a new .indd under a new name and see if it works better.

  • InDesign crashes CC 2015

I'm working on a multiple page document in InDesign on my Mac. I worked in this document for about a month now, and just recently, it crashed when I try to scroll past or go to a certain page. I tried to uninstall and reinstall the program, and export the document in PDF format with no luck. Even when I click on the tab pages, everything closes. I don't know what I did to cause this. In addition, I can open a new document and fill a new project without problem, so it must be a problem with my other document. How can I recover my document data, including data on the page it crashes? I'm afraid I have to redo my work.

Try saving the file as a file idml. This will sometimes fix unopenable file. - Anne

  • InDesign crashes when I open a specific file

I have the feeling that the file is corrupted or something. But how can I recover or repair? I'm on a Mac, 10.8.5 and using Indesign 5.5.

I tried to make an alias or name something else - does not work. I'm not able to export it to an IDML because it crashes before I can do it. What can / should I do? Of course, this is a large document and I'm supposed to download to the printer tomorrow. I was making the last corrections when this happened... arg!

PS. .others files open very well and I am able to work with those.

I could not run the script. I ended up back on my backup HD and was able to open the file from the previous day. I was able to save this file as something different and just because a few hours of work to catch up. Thanks for your help.

  • crash InDesign down and impossible to recover my file...

Since the last update of CC, indesign always crash and then my document cannot recover, they say it can be damaged and when they ask my if I want to recover the file, again yes well indesign crash! I've lost three document now! What can I do?

I don't think that CC 2015 will even install on 10.7...

Now you must get rid data recovery that are damaged for InDesign InDesign will launch at least, then you can try to open your versions stored at the last files (you will lose all unsaved changes) and you can try exporting to IDML.

Firstly see InDesign crashes at startup while trying to recover a damaged document , and then delete the minor corruption by exporting if you are able to open the file. Make sure that you have actually installed the latest patch for what version you use.

  • Why my indesign crash when opening a shared library?

    Hello

In my work, we create the library files so that we can share images and assets between all members of the workshop. My boss recently made a library that blocks anyone outside its own machines. We all similar computers and the library is not too big (1, 309KB) for malfunctions. Other libraries (which are of larger size) open very well. All the images in the library are shared on our server, so there is no problem of link. Anyone know why it might be crashing?

    Thank you

    Sarah

Get corrupted, and it seems that this library is corrupted. I would recreate it again. (Is there a way to resave the InDesign as IDML files, but no such method for a library corrupt I heard talk about.)
