Illustrations in epub export

I'm learning to make Kindle books, broke through the brick walls with my thick skull, but I'm stuck on a couple of things to do with illustrations for export to epub:

(1) I chose "rasterize container" to preserve the appearance of the title page. He converted into an image, but it appears really small in the kindle reader. Is there a way to fill space more attractive?

(2) I have a small illustration in each chapter title before the name of chapter (the same all along), and it appears only on the first chapter. I want it on each chapter. These were placed originally through the master page, but I moved each instance out of the master and relieved to see that this 'rasterize container' has been selected for each of them.

Thank you!

~ Valerie

I'd rather the image inline. But you will need to create a master page for the title pages of chapter with enough space to insert the image on the top and mark the image with Split EPUB paragraph style.

  • How to include external style sheets for the EPUB export

    Hi all

    I try to include a css for the epub export file. Here's what I'm trying.

    var doc = app.activeDocument;
    with(doc.epubExportPreferences)
    {
            includeDocumentMetadata = true;
            imageExportResolution = ImageResolution.PPI_150;
            imageConversion = ImageConversion.JPEG;
            embedFont = false;
            includeCSSDefinition = false;
            preserveLocalOverride = false;
            externalStyleSheets = "D:/Chinna/Epub/QJ-stylesheet.css";
        }
    doc.exportFile(ExportFormat.EPUB, File(doc.fullName.toString().replace(".indd",".epub")), false);

    It returns an error. (Expected in string table but received "D:/Chinna/Epub/QJ-stylesheet.css").

    Try:

    externalStyleSheets = ["D:/Chinna/Epub/QJ-stylesheet.css"];

  • InDesign CS5.5 crashing during their epub export

    I have an ebook in a few days and I hit a brick wall. I'm working on a 300-page InDesign document which is connected internally (no cross references). There are also some external http links. The text was delivered to me in Microsoft Word doc format. I found that InDesign disliked the links generated by Word and crashed during their epub export. I took me a while to understand that one. If I had no choice but to remove manually all 1600 links and add a link to them, and then tested a few pages. Success. It took 10 days.

    Now that I'm ready to export, InDesign collapses, and this time I do not know why.  I removed all styles, all links and all text in the hyperlink - still in accidents. I suspect that indesign doesn't like TOC in large documents. The problem is, once you have called your table of contents, you can not delete it! So, I tried to copy + paste a few pages in my old test docs I know used to export without problems - and they do not have a table of contents. These exported correctly, even with the new style and links intact. Without crashing. But my original 300 page document still crashes whenever I try to export to EPUB.

    So a solution - even if it is cumbersome - is I can move all my content page by page in a fresh document - with styles and links intact - and it won't crash. I started to test this with 5 pages, but InDesign is weird as arising from the text on the even or odd pages only, and not always to let the stream of content on the new blank pages.

    I have included a link below in a zip file that contains the indd work and crash indd. At this point, I suspect that OCD is at the origin of the accident, but I'm not entirely sure.

    I tried the things:

    export with NO link and NO style (in which case it was a https or & question) = always accidents

    IDML export and then export as EPUB = always accidents

    I have a few days left, so that all help figure this out would be greatly appreciated!

    Nathan

    I would like to have better advice for you

    Your conclusion seems to agree with mine on Sunday, where it seemed that the difference between a crashing and a non paper document was a harmless little extra line.

    All I can offer is that this kind of problem is not really normal for InDesign, but EPUB is a rapidly changing area and so I'm afraid they are a domain which is not as developed as the rest of InDesign, and clearly, there are serious problems.

    You can take it to the top with the support of Adobe, of course, but I don't know that they will be able to find you a solution in due course. Maybe someone else who treats the ePub files that I can weigh with some more useful tips.

    I wonder if you can divide your document into several smaller documents and make a book (INDB file) and who then export. It can allow you to avoid going beyond the limit that you travel upwards.

    Sorry I can't be more helpful, and I particularly regret what I can I have provided false hope that led you on the path of optimism while eating in your time. I would like to know if there is anything I can do to help.

  • Adobe Illustrator keep my exported JPEG image scaling! Help, please!

    Adobe Illustrator keep scaling of my artboard exported on a scale of 4,167. I select the artboard when I export JPEG image, but it keep the scale on the final result. Is there an option for this?

    Question.jpg

    because in photoshop pixels means pixels. in illustrator, they are a unit of measurement: identical to a point.

    you want a wide picture of 4 inches at 300 dpi, in this case? do your work plan at the physical size you what your final output to be (i.e. 4 x 3,333). export a 300 dpi JPEG. you will get a 1200 x 1000 px, 300 DPI JPEG.

  • (illustrator CS6) Cannot export advice individual art

    I've updated to the new Mac OS Sierra and when I'm back in illustrator I had to first download the update of java, but then when I went to save my files export Format section is grayed out. It won't let me save advice individual art in PNG or JPEG. He now only let save me advice individual art when I go to save as. How can I fix it? I don't want to create new documents for each Board of art!

    Hello!

    I have the same problem for THE CS6 after update.

    The solution is quite simple: just across the width of your window to export at least and the box for work delayed plans become active and you can select the range.

    I hope this will help you!

  • spacing of the paragraphs is lost in the epub export

    When I export my file InD to an epub, all paragraphs are crushed together, without spaces between.  I tried to add styles to paragraph with 'space before' and 'after' but nothing works.  Adding extra line breaks or returns does not help, either.  There is no spacing between paragraphs in the epub file.

    Help!

    Space before and after should work. Can you tell us what version of Indesign are you use and your operating system. If you can share a sample showing the problem we can take a loot at home. You can use Dropbox or similar and post the link here.

    According to the request of my drawing, I shrunk the radial gradient and made the Annotator in oval, but when I tried with the default circle Annotator it worked fine.

    I don't know if it's a bug or something else, but it worked fine.

    Sure. EPS does not support the oval shape gradients.

    EPS10 - there is no EPS10. There are 3 EPS. That means 10 EPS is, it records an EPS 3 and is also included in this file something called data private. These private data contain a file AI 10. HAVE 10 supports blending modes and transparency, and that is why there is no flattening in the documents in the file that use. When you open the file in Illustrator, you'll be atually open this AI 10, not the EPS file.

    But if someone does not have Illustrator, it will modify the EPS 3 and of course they will not have a lot of fun with it.

  • Wrong colors when the EPUB export

    I have a book that I want to export to EPUB format. When I export to PDF format, the colors are good. When I export to EPUB, the colors are washed out, as CMYK. The color profile of the document is Adobe RGB 1998. All photos are RGB. I checked around to see if there is a setting that's not going to, but I can't find something that's not going to. Not sure that understand the difference of output export?

    1. For any web application (and it includes EPUB) use sRGB.
    2. Don't expect accurate colors, as none of the EPUB reader app supports color management.

  • Put page fixed ePub export text questions.

    Hello, I am new to the layout fixed ePub. When I export my project, I get something like this:

    12.png

    Changes in font size, I looked for troubleshooting, but nothing so far.

    When I export to pdf or epub reflow, the text looks fine, however, on my project, I need to be a fixed provision.

    Thanks in advance

    Hey there, Ellis, thank you for your response, however, it wasn't the problem. I have ADE 4.0.

    The real problem was that my indesign has not been updated, it has exported perfectly after the update. Hope this helps anyone who has the same issue.

  • The page numbers in ePub export

    Is there a way to export ePub page numbers? EPub files that is created is hosted by VitalSource (this can not be changed) and they have to have the page navigation, which depends on the page of the epub numbering. Can someone give me some advice about this?

    Thank you very much

    Check this thread of July: what is the best way to keep the page numbers from InDesign to EPUB? I don't know if anything has changed since then. In other words, not possible immediately.

  • No available EPUB export fixed to 144ppi?

    Just curious. I created a nice EPUB in InDesign, all my images are pages/full-screen, 1024 x 768. I exported it a provision fixed EPUB and 150ppi specified to cover the iPad Retina resolution. However, Apple iBooks would not accept due to being too large pixel dimensions. I had to re-export to 96ppi (which was then accepted on iBooks Store). I was expecting 144ppi, the equivalent of retina of an iPad (2048 x 1536) resolution, but this isn't an option in the menu drop-down. I'm off-track here? No idea if this needs to be addressed? Thank you.

    Currently InDesign don't let you enter your preferred during the export resolution. It must be the available choice-72, 96, 150, 300 ppi.

    To allow the user to be able to choose its own setting of the resolution is something that is in our order for the improvement of the EPUB book and could be addressed in future updates.

    Kind regards

  • In Illustrator, how to export all my paintings as individual PDF, instead of a single multi-page PDF?

    I have an Illustrator document with 45 work plans, and I need them to all be individual PDF. If I save under... PDF, all 45 work plans will be stored in a single PDF. If I export individually each work plan, I'll be here for a long time. And this practice is not conducive for the changes I have to do later. Is there a quick way to export every plan of work as an individual PDF?

    Thank you in advance!

    Open the PDF in Acrobat and use the tool to extract the pages as individual files.
