iMac buying tips - logic user

I bought an iMac mid 2007 refurbished in 2008 that I use mainly for house music production using Logic Studio (Logic Pro 8) running on Lion since it is the last OS that will run this old version of the logic (and I remember having to do a hack to run the Lion). Suffice it to say, I got my money out of this little girl and he did have a problem of unique material over time, I've owned. I can't say the same for the MacBook that I've owned, although my wife Air was good.

Anyway, Lion is coming to grips with the real life soon, so I'm thinking the following (and money is an issue, kid in College and another one soon).

(1) keep my old box until it is unusable; Logic Pro X upgrade (including hardware drivers) and install El Capitan (not sure the order of preference for install).

(2) research at the lowest cost 2013 + refurbished i5 (which will probably be more memory space and the disk than mine and certainly more CPU power than my old iMac) and upgrade from Logic Pro X and El Capitan.

(3) buy a renovated October 2015 + i7 with the best car (merger or SSD), more memory (16 GB, 32 GB, perhaps) and install Logic Pro X.

Well duh, #3, right? more bigger, better, cooler... that come with an extra price of the unfortunate woman, not so simple. The other thing is that I have the overall impression that quality of Apple is not the same as it was with my mid-2007 because of my experience with Macbook breakdowns. As more electronic, that much is to blame on cheap Chinese part. If I had high confidence that I would get eight years on the new, then #3 is the clear way ahead. If these are made in Ireland? Where is reclamation made?

If I get less than 5 years on a new, then #2 seems the way to go. And #1 is the frugal route.

Thoughts?

After waiting 2 years for an upgrade to the Mac Pro 2013, I decided to settle for a 27 "iMac.  "Read a few reviews that suggest the fastest iMac27 2015" 4.0 GHZ with 64 GB of ram is actually faster than the Mac Pro 2013 when working on 20 GB files in Photoshop.  It is the general consensus?

As I wanted to buy this 4.0 GHZ iMac 27 "However, I don't see for sale at Apple.com or my store of the local computer.   I don't see a 3.3GHz version.   Apple.com also says the max RAM, you can install is 32 GB.    I see 30 different versions of a 4.0 GHZ on B & H well, but how can ensure me that I get the maxed out very fast available from 27 "iMac?  Faster processor, more ram, faster hard drive etc etc.  etc.

Apple does not officially support 64GB, then buy the computer with 8 GB RAM database and then update yourself using OWC (www.macsales.com) RAM. Officially, Apple supports 32GB.

If you want the fastest, don't you a hard drive. Buy an SSD.

In addition, because you don't say what you plan to use the computer so that you are sure this is not only a waste of money buy a maxed out iMac? Just a question.

  • V 5 K iMAC iMAC buying tips

I will be buying a new iMAC 27 inches in the next few weeks.   I saw the new 5K at the local big-box store and the screen is beautiful.  I saw no retina version and it looks good too.   Just have not seen their side by side.  I have read the 5K would be a good thing to make everything, including photo and video editing.   I don't plan to do it either.  Mainly for the things from day to day, itunes, watch the video, etc...  My wife will make College work on it.

So I'm torn between getting one for $1700 or a refurb from Apple for a bit over $ 1600.  Similarly, I could get a non model also equipped retina (different video card) for about $1500.  Is it worth it just get the 5K for what will be our use?

It's to you - but FWIW, I own several Macs including a retina 5 k 27 "iMac, but also no Retina. Once you get used to the readability and sharpness of the screen there is no return back. Download max memory on it if you go to 5K.

  • iMac for a new user tutorials

I bought a new iMac 21 with the retina a few months ago, but have had trouble and wasted hours and hours trying to figure out how to do many things that were so simple on the PC I had for years!

I've now stored in its original box and put it in stock at home because I can not just use it.

Are there sites with tutorials that will teach me how to use the software as pages, numbers, iTunes and Photos?

If you click on the desktop (a black space on the Mac screen), you will see next to that the Apple icon in the upper left of your screen, the word "Finder". You are at the basic level of the Mac where it all begins. If then click on 'help' you will see the option to select "Get to know your Mac" as in the screenshot below part. You can also see the tutorials similar to this web site of Apple https://www.apple.com/support/macbasics/.

I am looking for the appropriate processor double taking $15-20 K range esx hosts.  We are a boutique of HP and stick to intel for VMOTION with our existing esx hosts.

    (1) is the hexagonal base 7400 series one?  I was set to zero on the 7460, but a person of intel at a VMUG was told there there VMMark results indicating the cheapest hearts series 5500 scored comparable or superior... is there a standard place to find this info?

    (2) more general question: a Ghz is always a Ghz, even with the same company?  Example: my 3 yr old 5160 is 3 Ghz dual-core, so in total 6 Ghz available.  Let's say I buy a 5500 dual core @ 2.5 Ghz, so it gives me a total of 10 Ghz.  The calculation is as simple, or my VM also potentially will require less Ghz if migrated to a new proc?

  • Buying tips: iphone SE vs Iphone 6

I have not asked a question here before, so apologies if this is formatted incorrectly or in the wrong section. Please let me know if it is!

I've owned an iPhone 5 for over 2 years and I'm currently stupidly pay full price on a contract the brand 24 months, get a new phone.

I was interested in the iphone SE, which is not too big (physically) as the other iPhones on the market - a positive point for me - and is also much cheaper - I seem to be able to get a 64 GB version for the same price as an iphone 16 gb 6. So my question is, is it a trap or are just willing to pay more for larger phones people? I had some problems with my iphone 5 on the ios and space plan (it's on ios7 because of space constraints, limiting the applications that I use) so this option is really appeal. Would I be wasting on what whether on the parts internal battery/camera photo/life/nothing else by getting the is instead of 6?

Yes, more big iPhones are more expensive to manufacture and sell.

    You use is your choice.

While I'm excited about my first Suite, I am disappointed that, aside from the other CS5/Lion questions, I seem to have a problem with users on the network can use the software.

Illustrator does simply not at start and first is slow to start.

I called support and was very surpirsed to be told that Adobe does not support users on the network? Really?

I have an iMac and a mini server using open directory that houses all my user data. It was a great Setup for me for backup purposes and others, but to be told Adobe that they don't support it's really disappointing.

The Adobe tech rep was incorrect?

Adobe will not support such a facility home simple network?

I have to use a local account just to use CS5.5?

My fear is that Adobe does not support this simply because they want to buy licenses to user which in my case is absolutely ridiculous.

I thought her no. through an overseas Adobe technical support. I thank God for the web and it's infinite resources.

I have an iMac and two different users on it (because my girlfriend insisted that she wanted to separate * yawn *). In any case, now, when I save the iMac by Time Machine on MY account, is there also to back up his account, or would I need to log into his and do it from there?

If everything goes well, it backs up both my GF will force me regularly save hers as well (it is unclear how). She is sweet, really, but he makes me do a lot of things for her.

    Thank you very much!

    Yes, it saves both.

  • iMac G4 not accomplishments RAM

I have a 2003 model iMac G4 equipped with a 1 GHz processor and I tried to put a stick of 512 MB of ram in it and when I turn it on it still boots in leopard surprisingly but it says that it only has 256 MB of ram. This iMac used to have 1.25 GB of ram, but I put the ram in my G4 iBook because I use it for school and the 512 stick came from the iBook. That these machines use different ram?

Can you identify the iBook G4? There were several different versions over the years

the G4 was manufactured; the first models all use PC2100 DDR266 200 PIN SO-DIMM.

    Only the last iBook G4 12 to + 14 - from mid-2005 use the DDR333 PC2700 200 pins

SO-DIMM; and this chip is the same as that which corresponds to the iMac G4 USB2.0 user upgrade

    specifying the location.

There were two models iMac G4 with 1.0 GHz processor; We use PC2100 DDR266 200-

pin SO-DIMM, while the model later used chips of SO-DIMM 200-pin PC2700 DDR333...

Some models can use the chip of RAM spec later (at slow speed of original memory due to)

limits on computer hardware) so the DDR333 is considered DDR266 in older Mac G4s.

A SO - DIMM DDR 266 since an old iMac G4 probably will work not in later model G4 iBook.

I have a Mid-2005 model iBook 12 inch 1.33 GHz that can use the same chip RAM upgrade

    the latest models of USB2.0 iMac G4 (PC - 2700-DDR333 200 - pin SO-DIMM) in a direct exchange.

And I have a little iMac G4 1.25 GHz models. The factory RAM chip is a different specification

pin count and requires the ritual apart take special upgrade to greater capacity.

You could exchange the chips where they came to test and see if both are OK.

If you touched the metal contacts on the RAM, which may have shorted the chips; or the RAM

was not entirely (if the parties were right in the first place.)

And you may need to reset the PMU in the iMac G4 to see if changing the RAM is recognized

Resetting the iMac (flat panel) Power Management Unit (PMU) - Apple Support

As a last resort; This reset could drain the battery if not done correctly PRAM. And in order

to change the battery in the clock, a major takeapart is necessary. Enough effort to keep also has a

upgrade the factory RAM slot. Thermal paste, tools extra and handled with care are required.

  • Rate of Logic Pro... I think the move to it

I've been a user of Digital Performer for years, but happened to be so complex, there are bugs and stability problems arise. DP7 used to be excellent, but DP9 introduced a bug in the automation of volume which made a usable and motu is hesitating on setting, or even acknowledge the problem. I also have performance problems. Often enough, the application will freeze for about 2 seconds, before he meets my keys, click mouse or command. There are other things, but I think to deserting a ship towards the camp of logic and wanted to know how he's doing.

I stuck with the older operating system and Logic-9. No worries.

Reported the exact same problems that you are having, in my Logic users there are now Beta-testers for the program reviews. Depending on the machine you have, the logic may or may not fail. It seems to do well on the newest equipment of the Apple. I suggest browsing this forum to get an idea.

  • Can I change my iMac G3 DV400 SE PRAM Battery?

    Hello

I need to change the battery of LANDAU of my iMac G3 DV400 SE he has not been put in service for a few weeks now. I post here to get a safety advises to avoid death by electrocution myself and to avoid damaging the electronics. Please keep in mind, I am a complete novice and a layman. I have found the battery behind the trap door RAM map Airport - and I intend to change the battery by here rather than remove the entire bottom half of the machine.  In any case, I kept it unplugged for a few weeks. Now, should I get anti static gloves / mast, wrist strap etc,? What tools do I need - for example pliers to remove the battery, or is it safe to do so only with your bare hands? And what would you say to wear clothes and shoes? Is a bed in a carpeted room OK? Or what kind of environment do I do this? Besides, I do myself or must it be handled by professionals?

    Thank you.

You have that gave a lot of thought... Everything you can reach through this opening, as long the iMac is turned off.  Danger (high voltage) is at the back of the CRT, which makes Apple (by design) hard to reach (unless you intentionally take the iMac goes beyond the 'user level').  It's just a battery low voltage, as the replacement of the battery a flashlight.

To avoid the unlikely but possible damage to the Mac, you should discharge static electricity from your body.  Work on a floor without carpet is better.  If you do this on the kitchen table, touch a metal surface ground, like the faucet to the sink.
