Images in the address bar

I'm a bit of a newbie to web design and probably simple help. I have Dreamweaver 4 (yes I'm a little late) and I would like to add a small picture of bar when someone sees my site address.

For example: http://img350.imageshack.us/img350/2668/urlgifms9.jpg

I'm sure that this is not too difficult, but I don't know where to start. Thank you.

Open your favorite photo editor, create an image 16 x 16, save it as
favicon.ico (you may need a program to convert it for you) and place it in
The root directory of your Web site.

  • Image in the address bar

I am just a new user training in Dreamweaver. However, I am at a loss in how to create these images of 1 cm * 1 cm with some websites upward in their URL address bar. To be honest I don't even know what they are called or anything. Any help much appreciated.

This image in the address bar of your web browser is called a favicon.

There are several ways to create the image. I create mine in Photoshop or Fireworks. The image must be in .ico format and located in the root of your site.

There is a tutorial possibly on the following site:
    http://www.PhotoshopSupport.com/tutorials/Jennifer/favicon.html

There is also a free service on a web site that makes this process very easy. The site is:

    God bless you

  • Where is the shield, I used to have in the address bar?

I don't see the small shield next to items in the address bar. Now all I have is a lock green or gray, which is not bad, but I want the other "indicator" armor of return. See the image attached to the shield of a Mozilla help page

If you think that mixed the active content blocking does not work on your Firefox, you can check here to verify that it has not been extinguished:

    (1) in a new tab, type or paste Subject: config in the address bar and press enter/return. Click on the button promising to be careful.

    (2) in the search above the list box, type or paste mix and make a pause so that the list is filtered

    (3) If security.mixed_content.block_active_content preference is set to false instead of true, try double-clicking it to restore the normal behavior. If the status is 'locked' and you can't reactivate, likely to indicate a unwanted "autoconfig" file that we can help you study or malicious software.

  • Text on the buttons labels have disappeared, and the legs went above the address bar. Why?

Last night, I've updated for Firefox 29.0.1. Now, I don't mind not change - and reworks - doesn't bother me but I HATE it when the options are removed. I want text labels on buttons (the ' Home' button, for example"). In the previous version of Firefox, you can click in the gray area at the top right and select "Customize". From there, you could drag and drop of what things you want to appear in your toolbar or not - and there is a check box for Select if you wanted the labels of text appears under them or not. Now as hard as I look, I can not find this option. So you're now forcing people to use ONLY icons. I hate this. My brain processes the word 'Home' much more quickly that it recognizes a bit the image of a House. You must understand that people act in different ways - and all simply because the developers of Firefox can not personally use text labels, which does not mean that person only!

What is the point in removing the option? Not at all. Please re - introduce the option. In the meantime, I'll be back to the previous version of Firefox.

In addition, I see that the tabs are now moved on top of the address bar. New - WHY? I love them below. Why do you feel the need to make changes - and then not giving people the ability to customize things how they like?

You can watch the classic extension theme restaurateur restore some features that has been lost with the arrival of the Australis style in Firefox 29.

You can check for problems with preferences.

Delete a possible user.js file and files numbered prefs-# .js and rename (or delete) the file prefs.js to reset all the prefs by default, including the prefs set via user.js and pref which is no longer supported in the current version of Firefox.

Not much in the way of images of example here.

If it has nothing to do the Web site you are viewing, then this isn't a favicon. Please provide a screenshot of what you are referring.

    Hi ApolloSerenus,

You are probably referring to location bar history. If you click this button, a list of Internet sites must appear. This article will give you information about the history of compensation.

You should also look Awesome Bar - find your Firefox bookmarks, history and tabs in the address bar for other cool things you can do with the address bar.

  • Firefox only allows 4 Web sites to save in the address bar. How can I change this?

My menu bar dropdown location used to be able to hold as many sites that I wanted to and it was convenient power drop and click on a site rather than constantly typing the address of sites that I frequent. A few months ago after an update (I don't know which) the address bar has begun to limit my addresses to 4 in the bar. I looked in the preferences options and online and I can't find someone who had the same problem who knows a solution. I am running version 7.0.1. Thank you.

    You have the FastestFox extension?

    • FastestFox Options > general, uncheck the 'Awesomebar improving '.

See the 10 image in the image gallery: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/9825

Start Firefox in Firefox to solve the issues in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is the cause of the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > appearance/themes).

  • Need help with the address bar of Internet Explorer

Hi, I have internet explorer 6, and usually I can rely on the address bar and show beyond Web sites visited. When I delete history and cookies, however some Web site links that I haven't visited for a long time. For example when I type b, a bbc link is displayed in the bar. However it does not appear if I do not press b. What's also weird is that sometimes the bar shows some word files, images or folders that I visited on my desktop, and other locations on the computer, as well as research on sites such as google as well as downloaded files. So I was wondering how can I remove it, so that, for example when I type www. It only gives me the possibility of weather or a Web site called www1.bottomdollar.com. I hope it is clear that basically I would like to erase everything from the address bar. I would really appreciate if someone can help me on this. Thank you

    Hello

Stefan suggested in the previous announcement, you can delete this links in Internet Explorer under:
--> Tools/Internet options, delete cookies, delete files, clear history.

Don t forget to mark the option delete offline content all under delete files.

Also if you want to clear the AutoComplete please go to the content tab.
You will find buttons in the privacy area.

  • My Favorites icon when muse my site is saved in Favorites does not match the favorite icon to the address bar. How can I fix it?

Hello! I have a bit of mystery on my hands. Recently, I bought a Muse model site and there corresponding favicon and favorite icons. I've updated the favicon on the model site on the master pages in the Page preferences and not for the life of figure me out how to update the Favorites icon. Initially I thought that setting the favicon would automatically do an icon of the Favorites, but is no longer, I think that this is the case. Someone knows how to fix this problem or where you load the favorite icon?

I know there must be a way to match them. See below. In the address bar it has the favicon updated dove logo that I added. In Favorites, I get the logo that came with the model site?

Here is the favicon for this site address bar. The favicon is a symbol of white doctor or Caduceus on a teal background

But it's the image/icon that appears in the Favorites.

(™ wesite is what I renamed the site in the Favorites bar). The image is always blue-green, but there the image of generic clock on it. I do not load this image of the clock in my site anywhere. In fact, it appears as theIcon for many sites on my favorites page.

Can you please help me solve this mystery. How to make icons match?

    Thank you!

Favorites icons do not use the favorite icon. It's something called apple touch icons. If you look at any website that have the icon and look at the source code for it, you'll see that it uses Apple Touch icons.

If you look at the source code for those who have the icons you will see code like this in thesection:

  • How can I stop Firefox giving search suggestions in the address bar?

From the last update, if I start typing something in the address bar, I get random search suggestions as if I was using the search instead. How can I disable this? It is kind of annoying, and it really bothers me. I read in another article that I went to about: config and checked "I'll be careful", it would stop, but I'm worried it may screw up my browser. Is there another way to solve this problem? Or do I just move a superior browser?

No it won't cause other problems as long as you do not change other preferences.

  • How to turn off the suggestion of "Search with Google" on the address bar?

Since the new update of Firefox that it appeared and I would turn it off if possible. Basically, it turns out whenever I type a title/name of a Web site but I don't need.

Screenshot is attached. Or here's another link if that didn't download: http://i.imgur.com/3lfJHvo.png

    Thank you!

    Hello FelipeMarc

    1. In the address bar, type Subject: config and press enter. The subject: config "this might void your warranty!" warning page may appear.
    2. Click on I'll be careful, I promise! to keep the comments: config page.
    3. Copy and paste into the search field the next "BOLD" browser.urlbar.unifiedcomplete
    4. Double-click on it, to make false
    5. close the topic: tab config, exit firefox and restart.

    Thank you

  • I want to search in the address bar

I have the new firefox 43, when I type things in the bar recipient, my most used web sites pop up at the top and I press down arrow once and get the website, I want, but now article 1 is always the search option, I don't don't need or want it to be there I have a search to the search bar.

How do I 100% completely remove the search from the address bar icon so that the 1st item in the list goes back to be web addresses?

PS I also find it very disconcerting that during this update we asked me if I wanted to search option/suggestions in the address bar and I said no, but when I was looking into options to get rid of this 'new' this option has been activated.

What others of my preferences during the installation you just ignore?

This is a new feature in Firefox 43. To turn it off to do this:

    1. Go about: config in Firefox
    2. Click on the I'll be careful button
    3. Locate the Boolean browser.urlbar.unifiedcomplete
    4. Change the false value

Note: You may need to restart Firefox for the changes to take effect.

  • How to prevent the address bar to view the same site twice

Since your 43.0 update, whenever I type in a URL, it first shows me "visit [site]" then "[website]" by itself directly underneath. It is redundant and was not here before and I don't like it much.

For example, when I type "t" in the address bar, it shows 'visit tumblr.com'first, then tumblr.com se below. How can I stop to say "visit [site]" and just display the site itself, as before?

It is a new feature in the latest version of Firefox. To disable this feature, follow these steps:

    1. Reachabout:config
    2. Press the I'll be careful
    3. Locate the browser.urlbar.unifiedcomplete Boolean
    4. Change the value byfalse

Note: You may need to restart Firefox for the changes to take effect.
